SHAPE-SHIFTING ALIEN POKÉMON TRANSFORM BATTLE STRATEGIES

IN POKÉMON TRADING CARD GAME: EX DEOXYS

Popular space-born Pokémon clash with powerful opponents in their debut expansion

REDMOND, WA, January 25, 2005 – Nintendo of America Inc., distributor of both video and card games for the Pokémon franchise, boosts the popular game into a meteoric orbit with the announcement of the February 14 release of the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG): EX Deoxys. Appearing for the first time in a TCG expansion, the morphing Deoxys, who change abilities and attacks as they change forms, will require players to utilize all their strategic skills to master the cosmic visitors.

Players can use one of three different versions of the legendary Rayquaza as their first line of defense. Rayquaza’s battles with Deoxys highlight both Pokémon’s unique abilities. Players can also use the recently-unveiled Pokémon which have powerful new types of attacks. But even the challenging power of Pokémon won’t guarantee victory -- the epic clash between the stellar force of Deoxys and the skyborne power of Rayquaza may not be decided until the last card is drawn.

The EX Deoxys expansion fills the Pokémon skies with over 100 new cards, including new Trainer cards geared towards stimulating battles and expanding game strategy options. New Pokémon-ex, the powerful attacks of the new Pokémon , and proven Special Energy and Trainer cards all mix with the versatility of the Deoxys cards to bring the game to new heights.

"The popularity of the Deoxys from the video games and film insured that they would be a powerful force in the trading card game,” says Gail Tilden, Nintendo's Vice President, Brand Management. “Their changing abilities will challenge players’ deck building skills as well as the level of game play itself.”

Pokémon TCG: Deoxys theme decks and booster packs go on sale February 14, with a MSRP of $10.99 for the theme decks and $3.29 for the booster packs. Each pack features nine randomly inserted game cards (five common, two uncommon, one rare, one parallel foil card). Theme decks include a 60-card deck, including one holographic card, game coin (with Deoxys and Rayquaza design), damage counters, an updated rulebook with card list and a one-player playmat.
