Default Bulba, Squrt or char?

(I wanted a poll for this)

What do you think is the best Starter for Pokemon fire
red or leaf green? Just wondering cause I might be buying it.

One solid answer.

Charmander. I believe mine learned Metal Claw at some point before reaching Brock. Misty might cause some problems, but from then on out, it should be smooth sailing.

FR and LG are really great games! xD I enjoyed them rather much! As for which starter to go with...It's all up to personal preference really. xD

I picked Charmander since it was the first Pokemon I picked in the days of RBY!

Easiest to use to get through the game? I would definitely have to say Bulbasaur! Helps you get passed the first to Gym's rather easily! Anyways, it's really up to you in the end though! :3

I pick Charmander, because you have weaknesses to the first two gyms. It's a good challenge.
I also occasionally pick Squirtle.

Even though Charmander is a fail against the first gyms, he learns Metal Claw @ 13, so he can now prevail against Brock. And on the way to Cerulean, he can learn Mega Punch/Kick from the tutors teaching that.

For the early game, Bulbasaur is great. He had type advantages over the first two gyms and will have solid defenses for later in the game.

Charmander, as previously stated, will learn Metal Claw prior to Brock. This'll allow him to give an easy win early in the game. Charizard is a powerful pokemon that has the ability to be a sweeper in a lot of in-game situations.

Squirtle isn't that impressive, at least in my opinion. He'll have good defenses but wont be that powerful against the in-game trainers. There are better water type pokemon that you could catch throughout the game.

Overall, I pick Charmander. There are just so many advantages to picking him, and unless you really want an Arcanine (FireRed only) there aren't that many other good fire types to choose from.

def bulbasaur. although he isnt as powerful as charmander and evos, he sails through the first 2 gyms pretty easily.
dont even get me started on squirtle *lol* too many water types in FR/LG already!
i could be very wrong about this. pick the one you personally prefer!

Charmander for sure, he'll be most useful in the game.

My preference has always been with Charmander. There's pretty much no other good fire types to choose from, aside from Arcanine.

Charmander... It's cute and strong.. Plus, it's a Fire-type! I enjoyed battling with my Charmander in my FR game. Now it's a Charizard. Try not to pick on the starters for it's popularity... You should enjoy the game...

Squirtle! Blitz past the first gym like you would with Bulbasaur, Pretty even with the second gym due to both types been water. Third gym is electric, but from what I am aware, Mt. Moon and Digletts cave are available so you can get a good rock/ground type. Theres the game corner for a fire type for the fourth gym... I beleive you get Vulpix, not sure (Im going by R/B/Y)

Squirtle. You'd go straight past the first gyms with only him and one other 'mon. Catch a Weedle or a Caterpie on the way tehre and you're already smooth sailing. If you're able to get a Pidgey then it'll be even easier, since Pidgey is essentially easy to train. I'd stay away from Rattata since there's not much use for him. I'd also recommend catching a Paras early on since it'll help with it's various status changing moves. ;D

Forgot about Caterpie and Weedle, they're both good when they're fully evolved, I prefer Beedrill's myself.
