Dusknoir and Cacturne in. Dusknoir has fire punch, so he’ll try to attack with it. Cacturne, in turn, will use Dark Pulse. Who’ll win in the end? Cacturne, by speed and damage. Switch or do something non-attacking, but don’t try to out-power him!

Oh yeah, that's totally me. Nice guide!

Not if you wanna be a ref/grader/wanna learn to write stories/battle without a cheesy guide/hate Marth.

As a wise man once said, yes, let's blame it all on the Mexicans >:O

Not necessarily. Marth's rules seem more aimed at people who aren't familiar with competitive Pokemon at all. I'm an alright battler on Shoddy, but didn't really know how to transition to this. Adam advises me on what TMs to get, and on what kind of strategies from standard battling work in the URPG. So yeah, I find it useful :p

Thanks, Marth. Maybe now when I ref again I won't be internally screaming at someone to switch instead of trying to Megahorn through Encore. T_T

If you’re not a ref, you can always ask a simple question such as “Does Flamethrower KO?” Most of them will answer with a “yes” or “no”. Even refs will sometimes ask this in order to confirm their results.
You can ask, but the Referee of that match can't answer. The ref isn't there to help make battle decisions, all they do is calculate the moves that are called. Otherwise the neutral role the Refs play is put into question.

I've always been under the impression asking the ref if a move KOs is completely acceptable.

And if both battlers are allowed to ask that question, and the ref is willing to answer it for both people, then the refs loyalties are not put into question.

How is that changing the neutral role? Both battlers have the option of asking. If anything it would make the battle more fair because if a newbie is battling a ref, they're at a disadvantage. The ref can calc all of their moves to choose the best one, while the newbie has to guess until they figure out how the calcs work. It helps them figure out which moves do more and which to use, and imo helps make URPG more competitive.
