I know, i know...
hey all
just got pokemon ruby for the VBA (virtual boy advance for those who dont know) and im having trouble with Wattson.
I know, normally i give advice in the RSE boards but this time i need help.
Here's my team so far:
Gekkoman the Grovyle
Lv 27
absorb
fury cutter
quick attack
pursuit
its serious nature so both its attacking stats are respectable. getting leaf blade soon.
Wing-Girl the Swellow @ silk scarf
Lv 25
Wing Attack
Quick Attack
Focus Energy
Double team
a very fast bird, indeed.
BLAARGH the koffing
Tackle
Poison Gas
Sludge
Selfdestruct
I see much potential in the ball of toxic gas.
Annoyman the Mawile
Lv24
Vicegrip
Fake Tears
Bite
Sweet Scent
My 'wall'/stat dropper/sweet scenter because my comp is too slow for consecutive button-holding required for running in tall grass to find pokemon. not bad overall.
Pyroturtle the Torkoal lv 19
Ember
Smog
Fire Spin
some other move that i never use, i think its smokescreen
i needed/wanted a fire type, and torkoal is really cool.
Psyman the Kirlia
Lv25
Calm Mind
Confusion
Double team
Teleport
My upcoming sweeper. as soon as i get calm mind and psychic, that is.
any ideas how i can beat flannery and improve my team?

Here's my team so far:
Gekkoman the Grovyle
Lv 22
absorb
fury cutter
quick attack
pursuit
Any ground move potential?
its serious nature so both its attacking stats are respectable.
Wing-Girl the Swellow @ silk scarf
Lv 22
Wing Attack
Quick Attack
Focus Energy
Double team
Raising another poke in place of this for Wattson then bringing this back afterward might help
a very fast bird, indeed.
Seedman the Nuzleaf @ pecha berry
Lv20
Growth
Nature Power
Fake out
Bullet Seed
Can it learn anything helpful against Electric, or strong overall?
Not bad overall, but doesnt seem to contribute much.
Annoyman the Mawile
Lv21
Vicegrip
Fake Tears
Bite
Sweet Scent
Not a fan of Fake Tears, but the rest seems good.
My 'wall'/stat dropper/sweet scenter because my comp is too slow for consecutive button-holding required for running in tall grass to find pokemon. not bad overall.
Zig-Man the Zigzagoon @ whatever item he picks up after battle
Lv17
Tail Whip
Odor sleuth
Sand Attack
Headbutt
Train more and give some more good moves
My weak link. mostly here for item grabbing so i dont have to go shopping.
Psyman the Kirlia
Lv20
Growl
Confusion
Double team
Teleport
How soon can u get Psychic?
My upcoming sweeper. as soon as i get calm mind and psychic, that is.

Re: I know, i know...
My team looked similar to this when I played. Is there any chance you can get Nosepass or Makuhita? Anything with Fighting/Ground-type moves can be a big help here. I think I had Aron can do it too. As far as I remember, these guys could all be found in Dewford cave(though I think Makuhita was one that I got from trading Slakoth)

Re: I know, i know...
hey all new update: sorry for checking in so late but about half an hour after i posted this i managed to beat wattson with a combination of Kirlia with calm mind and mawile with fake tears (take THAT, Abcnonn! )
now im fighting flannery, and im having trouble taking down her torkoal. its massive defenses are whatre really bugging me, even though i managed to get kirlia with 4 calm minds in there and hit it with confusion, it only did less than half :O
new team update, any suggestions for flannery?

Re: I know, i know...
Lol, get a good Water-type. Whiscash would be your best bet. Again, get something with Ground-type moves. It'd be best if you take out Mawilie for this fight, it'll do more harm than good.

Don't forget this is Generation 3, all ground type moves are physical. And Torkoal IS Defense. Its base Special Defense is half its regular defense, Water is probably a better option if you can get a good water mon with a decent water type attack.

Re: I know, i know...
Ugh, that's right. I believe Pelipper is what did the trick for me. Other than that, I guess all you can really do is get Kirlia Psychic.

Re: I know, i know...
In any case, you need a Surf/Dive HM user eventually, so yeah, getting a water type (like Pelipper) is recommendable.
Edit: I don't think Pelipper can learn Dive, but it's an example of a water-type in general.
