Chapter 1- Dawn of Hope

Mew

Mew awoke in the middle of a desert, in the heat of the sun. He stood up and looked around, then leaped off the ground, sand flying everywhere. As he floated, he slowly turned, looking all around. Then he glanced down and looked at his hands. Who was he? Where was he? What was going on? He knew almost nothing of his previous life. It all felt strange. How did he get here? He slowly floated on, and shouted, "Hello!" There was no reply.

...

By sunset he had traveled quite far. He came upon a small hole in the ground, and he crawled down in it. For a long while he floated through the dark, drifting endlessly down a long passageway, before atlast he saw a light. There were several flames centered around a small pool of clear, cool, yet warm water, which was being fed by a small waterfall. He quickly flew towards the water and leaped into it, and relaxed. He was sore and tired, and he needed rest. Little did he notice that there were other pokemon laying all around him, cautiously watching his every move.

He soon got out and dried himself out, before moving next to one of the flames and laying down on the soft, smooth cave ground, and falling asleep in the warmth and the light of the fire.

...

That night Mew dreamed. He dreamed of a place, one that seemed familiar but he could not recall it. It was beautiful, and lush, and full of life. It was green and blue and bright and clear. Water was everywhere, in crystal clear springs that sat all around. On the horizon was a vast, endless sea, stretching out into the west. And high in the sky was a great, warm sun, yet... it's rays did not hurt to feel on the skin.

He dreamed about many other things- dreams about places that were all... they all seemed like somewhere he had once been. But again, he could not remember ever being there. In fact, there was much he could not remember.

When he would wake up he would not remember any of these dreams... save the very last one.

He was in a bright place- there was a great light, and standing in the center of it was a beautiful, yet terrifying figure. The great beast stood there for quite a while, until at last turning its head and looking upon Mew.

Some things had been troubling the mew very greatly. He had only lived with these troubles for a short day, but they were so... bothersome. He needed his questions answered now. Was this the one to ask? Mew slowly began to float forward, toward the great being. He had seen this being before, but he did not know where. Either way, he could tell that it was very wise and knew many things, that it was strong, and powerful. He drifted forward and reached out his hand to the being. In bowed its head and then stood back up, looking at Mew.

"Um..." Mew started.

"Yes, Mew?" Came the voice.

He had heard that voice before. But... who was Mew? In a few moments it only dawned on him that he was Mew.

"My name is... Mew?"

"Yes, Mew. Don't you remember anything?"

"Anything..." The Mew repeated. "Anything..." He said several more times. "...No..."

The magnificent being raised its eyebrows, and then looked sad, frowning and bowing its head.

"I sent you to a place... called Earth..."

Mew tried to recall the previous day, drifting endlessly through the desert. "Was that the place I was in? That... endless plain of rock and sand?"

It bowed its head once again. "Yes... how long have you... been asleep? When I sent you... Earth... it was not like that. But it still needed you. Now, I see... the pokemon need you more than ever..."

"I was... asleep?" Mew said. "You sent me there? And... I was... asleep..."

"How is it that you arrived there so late?" The being said. "How?"

Mew could not understand very much of what was going on. He looked at the being, trying to recall what it was, where he had seen it before. He looked all around, and could see nothing but a soft, bright, warm, pale light. And he knew not what the being was speaking of.

But it was not long before the dream soon began to fade away... slowly, into the darkness. The being was disappearing with it. Mew's eyes widened.

"Huh? Being? Wait..."

But it was all in vain.

...

Mew sat up, and looked around. There was a small flame flickering on one side of him- on the other was a pool of clear, shallow water. It took a few moments for the small pink pokemon to remember where he was. After processing it all for several moments, Mew layed his head back down on the warm ground around the fire. He attempted to make something out of his dream.

So.. his name was... what was it? It was Mew. Yes, Mew. And for some reason he had come to this place from somewhere... somewhere he could not remember. That being... it had sent him here for a reason. And for another reason, he had arrived late... had he been asleep for a long time? These thoughts ran through Mew's head. But it was not long before his head slowly began to ache. Taking one last, big breath, Mew finally closed his eyes and drifted away, back off to sleep.

...

Xatu

He stood high on top of his hill, wings spread wide, spread far. He was a silhouette against the dark night sky and the stars. It was as cold as ever, but Xatu did not mind. He was asleep. Yes, it was like this every night. He would fall asleep standing up after speaking to the stars. Earlier that night he had been searching through the stars, looking for answers. He asked them of a place called Paradise. A place that he knew of some way or another... was it from a dream, or had it been instinctual? The xatu did not know. But, yes, he knew of this place.

The stars had told him many things. And he had fallen asleep processing these things. He would awake in the morning to gather all the pokemon around and tell them what he knew. For he had mentioned to them this Paradise before and they were eager to know more about it.

Xatu did not move a single muscle in his sleep. He stood, unmoving, eyes closed, breathing softly, calmly. In his dreams he dreamed about many things. He saw tracks along a sea of sand, stretching far off into the distance. He saw... stars, millions of stars. He saw a great journey, an adventure. Yes, in his gut he knew what was to come. Part of him longed for it, but yet... a part of him was nervous, almost... scared.

Suddenly everything grew dark. There was a black void, and a dim red glow. What did this mean? Xatu was not frightened- long had he learned to not fear nightmares, but to rather make sense of them. What did it mean? Then it started. A slow, deep, mysterious laugh.

Xatu woke up. He suddenly stirred and opened his eyes, remembering every detail of the night's dream. Now Xatu stood, pondering his dreams, breaking down every part of them, analyzing, and trying to make sense of them. He sat there for a long time, in the darkness, and in thought. When the sun would rise and all the pokemon would wake up, he would have much to tell them.

Yes, he would have much to tell them.

OoC: Oooooh, mysterious! xD

IC:

Tangela
Tunnels
Time unknown

He wandered through the caves as if he was lost, he sometimes stumbled from rocks on the ground and shuddered at the slightest sound. But Renegade knew exactly where he was, he knew his exact coordinates at every step he took, he knew what tunnel he was in and most importantly, he knew how to get back to the Middle. He decided it was probably getting dark outside and he should be sleeping, so Renegade made his way back to the Middle slowly but surely.

....

The thought ran through his head as he walked through the entrance to the Middle, he didn't dare speak the words, but he thought them, Ah, Home-sweet-Home..
The Middle was a huge cavern that Renegade had carved out, it was at least 100 feet high and the roof was actually the peak of the mountain that his series of caves ran through. All along the walls there were small ledges and rows upon rows of intricate gold symbols. Renegade was a master sculptor, he had dead accuracy with his chisel, and perfectly controlled strength with his hammer. On the floor of the Middle was a bed, a bag full to bursting with his hand made gold coins, a platinum hammer and an amber chisel. As renegade climbed into his bed, he thought of the usual thing that helped him sleep, laughter, he had a few jokes of his own to tell himself,

What happened when two people tried kissing in the fog?
They mist!

It broke out of his lungs liked a caged beast, he couldn't help it, but his voice was layered, it sounded like there was many things talking all at once, their voices were deep and demonic and it sounded pure evil. Even though Renegade feared his own laughter, there was no-one else to accompany him, his eyes closed from exhaustion and he breathed deeply.. In.. Out.. Finally he drifted off and began to dream.

Caeus
11:48 P.M.
Outskirts of the Community

Caeus stood there, in the dead of the night, motionless. He barely moved, only breathing slightly. The blaring heat was somewhat nullified by the winds that blew across the desolate and barren wasteland that was once the luscious, thriving planet known as Earth. A rain of sand pelted the largest, but he cared not. He left the flying debris wash over him like the hot springs of the underground tunnels. The tree on Caeus's back shook violently, causing a leaf to be plucked off and dance around in the wind. He sat there, waiting. But for what? For whom? A steadfast look in his eyes, Caeus glared towards the horizon, as if he was expecting to see something, or perhaps someone. Then he turned around and slowly ambled his way back into the system of caverns that was home to a small group of Pokemon.

11:53 P.M.
Inside the Caverns

As the Torterra walked, his massive body shook the entire cave. Most other Pokemon were already asleep, while some others were just heading to bed now. Caeus made his way through some tunnels and reached the watering hole. A large well produced a stream that poured through an artificial hole and spewed forth, supplying the community with fresh water. Several chambers were carved out for the multiple uses of the water; bathing quarters, the watering hole, and a few others. After Caeus had his fair share of water, he exited the room, weaved through another set of tunnels, and reached his room. It was simple, containing only a large bed compiled of leaves the fell from his tree, a few pieces of cheap ore to gnaw on, and a storage area for food. Caeus settled down on his bed, and fell asleep.

Xatu
Dawn
Upon his hill

A warm glow slowly began to shine from the east, entering through the mouth of the caves and dancing along the walls of the tunnels and into the little burrows where all the pokemon sleeped. The frigid and windy night air began to grow warmer. A new dawn was approaching.

Xatu stood pearched on top of his hill, looking to the east. It felt good, the sun on his face, warm, and rejuvinating after such a cold night standing up on his perch. Xatu smiled and relaxed, and for the first in a long time, he sat on the ground and let the sun run over him. He layed on the peak of the hilltop, bathing in the warm, yellow light, letting it sooth him and comfort him.

The other pokemon would be waking up soon. They would step out of the caves to a new day, yawning, stretching, smiling. Yes, they would be coming soon. Xatu needed to be there waiting for them. And he would be. He slowly pulled himself off the ground and flapped his wings. He let out a piercing cry and then leaped off the side of the hill, and slowly glided down to the entrance to the caves. He drifted in the wind, and it felt good, letting the breeze move him around in the air. All the while the warm rays of the morning sun kept him warm and cozy. Xatu landed softly on the ground below. And then, he spread his wings wide and far, and closed his eyes, and began his patient wait for the other pokemon.

Pluffi awoke with a start. He leaped up and whipped around to make sure his fan club was still with him. They were. Pluffi smiled. He began to stroll around his section of the cave, waking up the various pink pokemon laying around him.

The Pink pokemon all slowly stretched, looking up at Pluffi and giggling. He was a star. And he knew it.

...

The group left the cave for their morning jog to the pond. Running briskly, they reached the cool, shimmering waters and looked up. Above the pond, a single hole in the roof of the cavern opened up to show a beautiful moon. No one knew what time it really was.

Pluffi began to drink the water slowly, pondering about the moon and stars, vaguely remembering what they even were. Looking across the pond, he saw another pink pokemon asleep. Curious, he stumbled around the pond to where the pokemon lay. Another recruit? Pluffi chuckled. Glancing down at the pokemon, he suddenly leaped back in surprise. He had seen it before. Was the pokemon in his fan club? What was the pokemon's name? No, wait. A picture. Yes! A painting. Entitled... um... Mew... Pluffi gasped. He poked at the small Mew just as a cry sounded from Xatu's mountain. Meeting time. With a start, he rushed towards the mountain, his fan club following close behind, all but forgetting about the little pink Mew.

Caeus
Roughly 7:00 A.M.
Sleeping Quarters, Caeus's Room

With a roar mixed with a yawn, the large Torterra awoke from his slumber at the sound of Xatu's one-of-a-kind screech, signaling it was time for a meeting. Caeus slowly rose to his feet, and muttered something about not getting enough sleep or something or other. He waltzed into the main chamber of the underground tunnel system, stretching his neck in the process. "Greetings, everyone." Caeus's voice rumbled through the cavern. As he came out, Pluffi, a fellow community member, along with his legionnaires, rushed in towards the source of the cry from earlier. Smiling, Caeus continued onwards.

OOC: I'd like a little more effort to make the posts longer, like maybe... two paragraphs or something (about 10-15 decent sentences atleast)

OOC: Gotcha.

Xatu

Xatu screeched once again. He made it loud and clear- a morning wake up call to all the pokemon asleep in the caves. Every morning they gathered around him to hear news. He was hoping that they would all come soon. Though he waited patiently, he was eager to share what he had found with the group.

Slowly but surely the pokemon popped their heads out of their burrows and tunnels and into the bright morning sunshine. They then began to crawl out of their holes, all making their way to Xatu, who stood, wings spread far apart, like a totem pole, silhoutted against the rising sun. Xatu calmly waited. The pokemon of the community, though so very few, were slow at starting the day off. It often took them a long time to all egress from the caves. For a long time, at least an hour, Xatu and a few pokemon who were the early risers waited for the others. The whole time, Xatu remained in his great position, managing to hold himself up just fine.

His wings... they were a majestic sight to behold with the sun shining through them, and bouncing off, shimmering in many different, beautiful colors. Xatu was truly a mystery to the rest of the pokemon. But he was probably the most important to the community. Almost everyone knew him- he made a point of getting to know each and every one of the pokemon. They would all feel like they knew him well, like... like they could really connect with him. Yet, there was so much about him that no one knew. To some of the pokemon it was... bothersome. But Xatu still had much to offer- he always had fresh news, fresh thoughts- inspiring hope in the pokemon. His powers he truly lended to the other pokemon, making the best use of them and doing it for the benefit of everyone.

The morning air was fresh and crisp and warm. At this time of day it was not yet burning hot- it was a comfortable temperature. The wind had died down to a soft and quiet breeze. The desert all around them was calm and bright and shining. Though it was bland, there was something about it that just felt... good.

Xatu loved mornings best.

So, as he waited, the bird relaxed and opened his mind, floating downstream, letting the wind catch on his wings and balance him, hold him up. He closed his eyes and smiled peacfully.

Mew

Mew awoke on the soft, smooth ground of the cave floor. He had heard a loud screech, like that of a bird. He slowly stood up, and looked around. The pool was still there, the flames still flickering. From above, a shaft of light cam down and landed right on the waterfall, creating an array of colors- a tiny, yet beautiful rainbow.

But beofre Mew could think about anything, he was hungry. Yes, he needed food. He looked around, in vain, and frowned. There was nothing.

Mew drifted along the dark passageway, looking all around. He wondered who created these holes... He wondered if he would meet anyone. And most importantly, he wondered if he could find food. It seemed like almost forever, as he drifted down the long and endless dark hole. The air was cold and Mew was freezing. He had no flame to keep him warm now. All he had was himself. But that's all that matters.

He was startled when another loud screech sounded from somewhere far above. Not just because it pierced his ears, but because it caught him off guard. He lost focus, and fell. The mew braced himself for a hard landing, but found none. He was still falling.

He knew there would have to be an end to this eventually. He tried to re-focus, take flight, but he could not. He squeezed his eyes shut and shouted, but only a soft mew came out.

It was a soft landing. Mew bounced up into the air, and then back down. Another soft landing.

The small pink pokemon laughed. That was fun. He pulled himself up and bounced again. For a moment all the worries of the world were gone as Mew jumped up... and fell back down onto the soft bed of... something. For a long time he bounced, enjoying himself.

This feeling- he was... happy. He had felt this before, but... where? All he had felt in the last day, and indeed, the only day that it ever seemed like he had even existed, was sorrow, while traveling though the blank, lifeless desert. He had felt a little happiness at the light and warmth of the flame, and he had felt little happiness in the waters of the spring, but now he was truly enjoying it. Mew leaped high up into the air for one grand finale, and then landed on his bottom, sinking far down into something. It was comfy, and warm. It felt good. It also smelled good. His tummy groaned.

Mew sniffed around. All around him was a wonderful smell. He suddenly found himself sinking his teeth into a soft and squishy something. It tasted good. It hit the spot. Did the job.

Soon the mew found himself tearing apart the soft bed he had landed on, and scarfing it all down. He had tasted this stuff before. What was it? It was... was... it was... Mushrooms! Where had he tasted mushrooms before?

It didn't matter. Mew was satisfied.

The screech echoed across the plains, carrying to the mountains in the distance. The echo rebounded off the walls, it hit every nook and every cranny and finally settled upon the Middle. Renegade sat up abruptly, startled by the sudden screeching ring in his sensitive ears, he recognized it as the morning call and slammed his head back against his pillow, every morning it woke him up from his dreams. Why, he thought, must he do that!? It's freaking annoying, awaking every morning to a piercing call.. All the same he picked himself up off of his amazingly comfy Latias Down bed and began to pace sluggishly to the cave mouth, God I need a coffee..

Renegade stood on the cliff where the entrance to his tunnels began, his slightly transparent amber colored vines shrouded him like a orange veil. He raised his arms to the sky and in a split second the vines around his body unraveled and his arms were sent flying across the plains towards two very tall, very large rocks. Each hand grasped a rock each, back at the cliff Renegade was positioning himself. Finally he was ready. He retracted his hands but didn't let go of the rock, thus creating a slingshot effect and he was propelled through the air.

Pluffi rushed onwards in the heat of the action. Pokemon stumbled onwards as Pluffi and his followers swarmed on to be the first out of the caves. The opening to the "above world" as the "youngsters" came to know it beheld a brilliant sight. Dawn was breaking as a radiant red and purple glow illuminated the caves--A sight that would not be forgotten.

Pluffi hurried his little lovers along sighing to himself. With a clap of his furry graspers, he was hoisted into the air by a group of clefairies and carried up the spiraling column that led to the mouth of the cave. As the entourage reached the top, they winced due to the sudden sunlight, but slowly adjusted.

There, in front of them, was Xatu's peak. It stood, rimmed by the sun. Pluffi noted that the sun had become considerably closer and hotter since he was last on Xatu's peak. Maybe he had been in the caves too long. He hopped off of the bed made by the arms of the clefairies carrying him and onto the cracked ground. As other pokemon crawled out into the light, he stood up and began to jog up the mountain. He had to be first.

Tripping over sticks and stones, the hord of pink climbed the mountain like a swarm of ants. If you had seen it from a distance, you would have realized its brilliance. Suddenly and without precaution, a thought flashed through Pluffi's head. Mew? Where was that Mew? By the pond... I have to tell Xatu...

Xatu was older than every pokemon left on Earth, save a legendary few. He had outlived what seemed like the world itself, often recalling times when gladiators were pitted against lions and other such beasts of earthly creation. Beasts not unlike pokemon, yet very different. These beasts were often referred to as animals in his stories. This greatly puzzled [almost] everyone.

...

Pluffi often considered his greatest teacher (besides Caisy) to be Caisy's Steelix. Steelix, as he was simply called, was possibly the second oldest pokemon besides Xatu. And he was found by chance. Steelix was once part of the earth. But when pokemon began to inhabit the earth, mysteries occurred beneath the earth. Onix and steelix of all sorts arose from the rocks and were considered pokemon. Steelix was not ordinary. He arose from gold. Steelix's body always shone in the sunlight as Steelix, originally Onix, rested on top of Mount Moon. When lost in the night, travelers often followed this light, as it shone into the entrance of Mount Moon's caves.

A great dust storm came, encircling the land. And Onix, though powerful, could not stop the storm, tumbled off the mountain in an attempt to stop the storm and awoke in a Pokemon Center under the care of a nurse. He had never interacted with humans. In reality, Caisy had saved the pokemon, being an already well-known trainer. Though Onix, startled, awoke and rampaged across the pokemon center. As the nurse calmed Caisy, she asked him to flee while he could. Caisy left into the caves without further warning.

Within the caves, Caisy lost himself. Pokemon swirled in the darkness around him. But Caisy saw a light. And he found a way out of the cave. He wondered where the light came from in the pitch black of the night but never found out. Until he was strolling around Mt. Moon some time many years later, a Steelix, whose body shone like gold in the moon and the sun, approached him, eager for a battle. Caisy won in surprise, as the Steelix volunteered to be captured. Caisy eagerly followed.

Pluffi often counciled with Steelix, asking for advice, even though Pluffi had been with Caisy longer. Steelix later, after the war, took his place amongst the rocks in the cave, where his imprint shines like gold in the dawn. He gives advice to passer-bys and eager pokemon who want to fight.

...

Pluffi reached the peak, looking up, although panting. Xatu slowly turned around. Hello Pluffi. Xatu spoke to Pluffi's mind through telepathy, a skill Pluffi and Xatu had practiced over the years. Pluffi blushed. It sounded so... so... adorable when Xatu said his name... Pluffi was releived to remember that no one could here his telepathic conversations with Xatu. We shall wait. Xatu said, glancing down at the mountain as pokemon climbed up. We shall wait, and then we shall talk.

Mew

Mew summoned his powers to create a small, warm, light. Like a tiny flame. He watched it, a light in such a dark place. As his eyes soon adjusted, he was beginning to notice his surroundings. He was standing on them- thousands of them- great big, blue mushrooms. They seemed to take in the light of the flame and then shoot it back out. Big, glowing mushrooms. Mew looked around in awe. He had never seen such a thing, not even... no... there is not even a not even, because he could hardly remember anyhting that happened before his time on this world. Mew then looked up.

He looked up into blackness- for as far as he could see there was only dark walls on all sides of him going forever up. He looked back dow...

Wait, did the wall just move? Mew looked back up. There, imbedded in the wall was a long, shimmering, snake. Massive, and bright. Only its head stuck apart from the wall, and it had two great eyes nestled in a bony, rocky skull, that were staring Mew down.

"Welcome." The beast said, moving its mouth and head. The rest of the body did not move

Mew just stared at it in fright.

"I suppose you better go check out today's news. Xatu's already screeched twice."

A confused expression spread over Mew's face. He did not know what any of this was about. He wished he had never made that light. In sudden panic, he put the flame out between his two hands. With the light gone, he felt... not much better. What if there was another one of those big snakes right behind him? He looked down, to see a glowing bed of mushrooms, glowing blue like the coals of a fire glow red. But there was no time. Mew was frightened.

Suddenly he flew up into the air and up, going faster than ever. Yes, he was going up. He wanted to get out of these dreadful, dark caves, with big... scary, metal snakes that talk. Below him the mushrooms grew ever more distant, until they were only a faint blue glow far below.

It seemed forever that he traveled up, up to the top. But at last, there he saw it. A light! It grew brighter and brighter. Mew reached for it, pushed himself to go faster, and then he burst out of the hole and into the broad daylight. He twirled around in the air. Oh, the dry air and the light felt so good after being in those stuffy, dark, wet, caves!

Little did he know that other pokemon were watching him. And none of them had ever seen him before.

Default Re: Pokemon: The Search for Paradise (RP)

Renegade landed his perfectly executed slingshot maneuver amazingly well with practiced ease. His strong, amber colored vines reflected from the early morning sun, creating a red reflection on the ground. In front of him, his old savior Xatu was facing the rising sun with his wings outstretched. Renegade put out a vine and touched Xatu's shoulder, making a telepathic link between them, Hello, old friend, he began, I have nothing better to do in the mornings other than sleep, I should really get some exercise these days. Who knows, maybe I'll evolve, eh? he said with a grin spreading from ear to ear. It was an inside joke.
