Default 12 letters limit for moves?

I don't post here much, but, I noticed something I don't know if others have.

Have any of you noticed that when a move's name is going to be more than 12 letters long they just stick the words in the name together?

Like, Poison Powder is 12 letters, but the space makes it longer than 12 letters. The move itself is called Poisonpowder.

Dynamic Punch>>Dynamicpunch
Aroma Therapy>>Aromatherapy
Ancient Powder>>Ancientpower
Feather Dance>>Featherdance
Self-destruct>>Selfdestruct
Smelling Salt>>Smellingsalt
Extreme Speed>>Extremespeed

All of those attack would be longer than 12 letters if the words were separated correctly.

Did anyone else know this? Was it public knowledge and I didn't know? XD

Um, yeah, it's called name limits.
That's why Feraligatr is called Feraligatr instead of Feraligator.

One that drives me mad is ThunderPunch, since it is inconsistent with Ice Punch and Fire Punch. In any case with these moves, I always type them out seperately (Thunder Punch, Ancient Power, etc).

Extrasensory is one word, and Dragon Dance is actually two in the games.

Double-Edge/Mud-Slap/Sand-Attack, for some reason, has a hyphen.
BubbleBeam / Softboiled / Crabhammer / DoubleSlap / MegaHorn / SolarBeam / Tailwind, for some reason, is a word and not two

Acupressure/Flamethrower/SmokeScreen may count

FeatherDance / GrassWhistle / ThunderShock definitely counts

Roar of Time and Wake-Up Slap have three words and fit in nicely in the 12-character limit. Will-O-Wisp has three words, but doesn't have 12 characters.

They hyphen words to make one word that serves a single meaning.
Also, will-o-wisp is based off the name they call ghost fire, "will-o'-the-wisp".

Flamethrower, Acupressure and Tailwind are already one word.

Never really noticed. Too preoccupied by the 10 character (well, that's more likely than letter) limit for names of Pokemon. :O

I guess there has to be a limit, otherwise we'll have a Pokemon called Onetwothreefourfivesixseveneightnine with a move called Super-Duper Ultimate Omni Armageddon Kamikaze. Or worse. XD Besides, it probably won't fit in whatever game console we play. Hence the limit.

But yeah, the character limit for moves should be increased to 16. That would clear things up a lot.

EDIT: Hey, why does eveyone ignore me? DD:
