Gay is a word, not a phrase. :D

Yea, I see more cross-cliquing at my school than alot of other schools.

What I'm trying to say is that people get too easily offended by things that don't really matter. Calling people "Black" and "White" for example offends alot of people, but does it really matter? It's just a title. Or the fact that in Animal Crossing, you can only be a white girl or a white guy. People get mad about that, but it's not that big of a deal. Heck, even the fact that in games like the Sims, it's way harder to make a gay couple than to make a straight couple. Even that offends people.

Sure, it's a fine thing to know, but people are making a HUGE deal out of it. Thousands of news reports, people stopping using their phones; it's ridiculous. You have a better chance of getting mugged walking around a suburban neighborhood than getting cancer from a phone.

Oh and we're forgetting all the other words that are offensive to certain races but are used regulerly by people too. The N word for example. X_X

Imo there's just wayy to many things that are worse than calling someone or something gay.

Yes, but calling someone gay is still relatively important. If we ignore the problem and it grows into a bigger one...

Just because something has a majority following, doesn't make it right. History will tell you this.

Over the past century, many rights have been challenged in different races, gender, and nationality. The immingrants in the early 1900's. The asians in the 1940's. The blacks and women in the 1960's. And from the 1990's to now, the gays. And with each era, words were used to describe these different classes of people, many negatively. And before these rights came into question, society deemed these words appropriate.

Now we look back at history to see the hardships these groups had to deal with. Still today, many of these words are taken as an insult. Five, ten years from now... what will we say about this era of rights.

The english language itself is plentiful with valuable words to use. It's like we became lazy in our own speech, trying to create and use words as a noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, and adverb all at once. And with many of these words being used rather than quality language, we limit our vocabulary immensely! A little effort in eloquence will help you prosper in life.

I concur. Negro is still rather offensive to black people, and to the point of majority, your parents have probably said this to you before; if all your friends were jumping off bridges, would you? Even though some of you would say "How high is the bridge?", the correct answer is no because the blunt truth is that you're not supposed to jump off bridges. 300 years ago, you weren't supposed to beat white people, but you could beat blacks, and most people did, does that make it right, no. Just because everybody says the word gay as something more than an adjective, that doesn't make it right. Gay, in my opinion, should be used only as an adjective, such as in "She's is gay," and not to insult or debunk anybody. Also, on a final note, I find it interesting that there are slurs for people of all colors and religions except for Christian Whites, if I'm wrong about this, though, correct me duly.

And how do YOU know that? I'm Black and I don't find it offensive in the least. Negro means black in a few languages. Its the name of a color.

And Christian Whites = Cracker

"Cracker" is also the nickname for a native-born Floridian. Unfortunately, I am a true "cracker".

Nicknames don't really matter. The only exceptions to that would probably be;

1.) The "N" word (obviously)
2.) White $#*%.

Believe it or not, someone yelled the "N" word at me while I was walking home from school in the last 24 hours. If you haven't seen a picture of me, I'm white.

Yes, and your parents are telling you to be politically correct. In any case, I found very few blacks that find Negro offensive (and I live in a black community as a child), and they do call each other by the other "n" word, which IS offensive from nonblacks.

As much as I like to talk about the discourse of racism, isn't this more about the discourse of sexism?

I think that they shouldn't call each other 'n's' and then get insulted when they get called one from someone of another race. It's plain hypocrisy.
