help mystery gift

hi, i am trying to do the mystery gift thing with a pokemon silver and a pokemon crystal game, but when i am pressing A button they say on the crystal game: Must retrieve GIFT at POKEMON CENTER. on the silver game they: Your friend isn't ready.... what am I suppose to do. Thx

It means you already have a Mystery Gift waiting for you on Crystal.
Go to the second floor of the Pokemon Center and speak to the man behind the counter closest to you to receive your gift.
Then save and restart and you can do Mystery Gift.
