Besides the Kanto, Johto, and Orange Island, I don't, either.
Two animes I suggest are:
Zero no Tsukaima: You can find the episodes on Youtube (it's only airing in Japan so they're in Japanese with fan subs). I really, really like this anime because it's both humorous and action-y. :)
Detective Conan/Case Closed: It's not chock full of action, but if you like CSI-like mysteries, you will adore it. It's also a manga, and the first 25 volumes (from a a whomping 62 so far :o ) have been translated and sold here in the States.

Re: Anime / Manga Shortage D:
Why does nobody ever mention Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann? :( It is made out of epic and win.
I also recommend Prince of Tennis, Vampire Knight, Getter Robo, Mazinger Z. XD I watch almost exclusively mecha.

I have the mp3 for Voltes V no Uta. l3 It's good for marching to school with.
Yes, you should watch Voltes V for historical reasons. It's a bundle of firsts.
It was the first ever anime to have a villian with a backstoryZOMGWTFBBQ.
It's the first mecha anime to have its theme song sung by a woman.
That said, Combattler is nice too, but Voltes is a more deeper and satisfying robot anime.
And Tenkuken: V no Jigiri is definitely one of the most remembered mecha finishers ever. I still think Chodenji Spin is cooler though. Not only that, V no Jigiri is one of the first few sword finishers in mecha, if not the first.
We need moar old-school mecha. Like GaoGaiGar, TTGL, Getter, Mazinger, and the like. Things like Evangelion are just too much.
RahXephon is a much better Evangelion, and it has one of the best soundtracks simply because RahXephon operates on music. x3
And OMG nobody mentioned Gundam. Watch a Gundam series. Any one. Except SeeD Destiny, and SeeD if you can avoid.

Re: Anime / Manga Shortage D:
Higurashi No Naku Koroni series. Also known in America as When They Cry. I'd also recommend watching the second season right after it. Name is basically the same only with "Kai" at the end.
Martian Successor Nadesico is another great anime despite being a bit on the old side. Still great none the less.
