15 years ago, the planet was once defended by the likes of Sonic, Shadow, Tails, and Knuckles. The world had been viciously attacked by the evils from other planets. These four heroes were the only defenses against these highly technologically advanced mutants. Earth's weapons were no match against their meteorite and solar technology. Only the superhuman powers of Sonic and his friends were enough to defeat the threat. In the fight, the Sonic team, excluding Shadow, were eliminated. This had left only Shadow to defend the world. Without a motive, as the Sonic team had been his only motive to fight, he abandoned Earth to the advancing aliens. Only ruin and slavery were results of the one sided war...

"Scanning... scan complete."

No heroes had stood up to the advanced aliens and sunk back into the shadows to hide from conflict. Those who had came out of the shadows to fight, were eliminated without much effort. The world had to wait for capable heroes that had the courage to liberate them from the onslaught that was brought upon them...

"Alien war Codenumber 666 memories have been deleted. Error, memory database has been deleted. Please log off..."

Yellow-green eyes gazed down at the desert like ruins that surrounded it. Those eyes, deeply slanted, sat on a sky blue face, which gazed emotionless, mouth set in a frown. A tattered brown cloak swayed in whatever wind there was, concealing his features. What you could not see was the six quills on his head, pointing upright, while the two on his back were much longer than other hedgehog's, pointing off to the side. The cloak was long enough to cover them, and conceal the white shoes and gloves that he possessed, along with the white glow that surrounded his body. On his forehead, a glowing, crescent scar, the "bite" facing to the right (his left), shone brightly.

Formally Skye, the hedgehog had met his fate at the renowned hero Sonic's hands long ago only to be reborn as the villainous Nazo, but he had exacted his revenge 15 years ago...Yet the pain had not left him. If anything, it had only intensified. His powers had begun to wane, and he did not know why.

Sighing, a black portal, rimmed by white, formed behind the hedgehog who turned. As the portal closed, the last thing someone would have seen was the swishing of a torn cloak, disappearing into the darkness...

" 'Cmon, Espio, hurry up!" Vector urged the purple chamelion, who was hacking the invaders databases.
"I cant work with you breathing down my neck, Vector, Back off." Espio replied, annoyed, and Vector shut up. Finally, the computer teminal offered the information they wanted. Espio wrote down the chaos emerld locations and deleeted their information from the database. "Vector, we're going, hurry up!" Espio said before dashing down a corridor
"Hey! Wait up, Espio!" Vector ran after Espio, down the corridor to the exit

Darkness surrounded the hedgehog, albeit for the glow that surrounded him. A light up ahead, dim, greeted him as he slipped through the entrance to the main cave. Large white crystals thrummed with glowing energy, illuminating the cave with a soft light. A crystal clear pool, not very large in size, sat at the end of the cave, bubbling up from a fresh water spring. Nazo slipped off his cloak, tossing it onto a crystal. Peering into the water, he gazed at the scar on his forehead. Black jagged lines, comparable to lightning, had begun to spawn off of it at various points. They weren't very noticeable right now because they were small-but they were steadily getting larger.

"Espio, Vector, listen to me. You know the location of the Chaos Emeralds now, correct?" A craggy voice came from the walkie-talkie Vector carried. Espio took it from the large crocodile and spoke into it
"Yes, we do. Unfortunately, Nazo seems to have one."
"That is unfortunate...Locate Nazo, and take the emerald from him!" The device flicked off.
"And we're supposed to do this how?" Espio sighed and shook his head.
"Hey Espio, this is perfect for me! Lets go find this Nazo guy and beat him to a pulp for his emerald!" Vector pumped his fist itno the air enthusiastically, but only aroused a look from Espio
"Vector, do you even know who Nazo is?"
"No, do you?"
"As a matter of fact, I do. His name was Skye a long time ago. I dont know how, but he's alive, and he wants to kill anyone in his way, including us. He was the one who killed Sonic."
"How do you know that?"
"because I was there. Now quit wasting time." Espio took out a map and pointed to a place on it "Wait for me here. When you hear me call out 'Now' I want you to rush in and attack Nazo while I take the chaos emerald."
"Are you sure this'll work, Espio?" Vector asked, but Espio was already gone.

Espio was waiting for Nazo, camoflauged inside the cave he'd read about that Nazo visited often. He waited silently, looking for any signs of an emerald

(Nazo's cave is suppossed to be hard to find XD, and he doesn't actually have an emerald. He may know where it is however...)

Nazo cursed to himself. "Everyday the pain grows worse, the sickness spreads...And everyday, my powers grow that much weaker. Why? I am immortal, yet I am dying from this pain..." The hedgehog was peering at his reflection, trying to find answers. "This must be Tatsujin's work...He must have done something so that if he perished, I would as well. Or perhaps he had planned that the whole time?"

Espio stayed as silent as he could, his deep purple eyes scanning Nazos form for an emerald, and the rest of the room...He tried to manuver to see better, and knocked a Stalactite down from the ceiling. He froze. the rock hit the ground and echoed loudly in the cave

Nazo whirled around, eyes narrowed. He could see nothing-but he knew there was something. His body was tensed up, and a white glowing spear had formed in his hand. Someone was here-but who?

Espio remained still. He dare not move, lest he become visible. But, already, the strain of resisting gravity for so long was making him weaker, and he also feared that his camoflage may drop before he could get a safe distance away. His tail hit another stalactite, and it dropped.

Nazo's eyes narrowed further. "Show yourself...I do not wish to eradicate my haven." The hedgehog stood alert, the glow from him slightly more instense. His sky blue fur was raised in agitation-something few ever saw, due to him being so hard to anger. As it was, this was his home-he would fight to protect it.

Espio cursed silently and dropped down. He let his camoflauge drop, and was in a defensive position "How nice to see you again, Nazo." He said scornfully, but kept ready to leap to either side or up if the silver hedgehog attacked "The name's Espio, if you didnt know. Now why dont you just make it easy on yourself and tell me where the chaos emerald is."

Nazo merely smirked, yet made no move to attack. "Why do you need the emerald? Surely not for your own gain...For walking down the path towards gain, whether it be revenge or wealth, only leads to pain." The hedgehog closed his eyes briefly, as if reflecting on his own rough path.

Nazo shook his head, turning his back on the chameleon. "I do not possess the emerald you seek. I do not wish to have anything to do with the emeralds, for the Chaos they possess only accelerates my already degenerating condition." Surprisingly, there was sorrow in the hedgehog's voice, but if he truly felt it, he showed no signs.

Espio sighed and looked disgusted "Do you know where the emeralds are or not?" he asked angrily. The walkie-talkie at his waist crackled
"Yo Espio, is it time to break the door down yet?" Vector asked over it. Espio clicked it off. "If you know where they are, tell me. I don't like the rule of these 'Superior Life Forms', and I'm tired of you helping them! I saw what you did to Sonic, and the only way you can redeem yourself from that is by helping Vector and I collect the Seven Chaos Emeralds, or at least tell us where they are. Now, are you going to cooperate, or not?"
