Default Lusitania: The Ship of Dreams

Bridge
Grand Admiral Mithran looked over the navigational charts. "Lusitania!" he called.

"Hey there!" A young girl, dressed like a Japanese schoolgirl, with blue skirt, white blouse, and a fluffy pink bow, cartwheeled into the room. She came to a stop in front of Mithran and smiled. "Need something, sir?"

Mithran nodded. One should not be deceived by the apparent youthfulness of the girl. Lusitania was older than human civilization. "How soon before you can make the jump?"

Lusitania's wide grin fell off her face. "In roughly two hours, twenty-six minutes, and seventeen seconds, Admiral. The Dreamdrive has been somewhat slower of late."

Mithran nodded again. For Lusitania, a "slower" Dreamdrive meant one that took three more seconds than normal to finish charging. She was a woman of extremes.

"You will inform me when you are ready?" Mithran queried.

Lusitania nodded in reply. "Well, if there's nothing else you need me for, I'll see you around." She walked out, but not before waving at another hologram of one of her avatars working with the navigational officer. The other Lusitania waved back, then got back to work.

-------

Kiron Forest, 20 miles outside of Kiron City, Marglot Capital

Kairo stood on a cliff, watching the forest below. Beneath him, a squad of soldiers moved through the forest. Human soldiers, from above. They thought they were stealthy. They thought they were undetected. They thought they were safe.

They weren't.

Kairo raised his hand into the air and blew. A blue sphere appeared in the air, the size of a basketball. He made a motion with his hand, and rushed forward, spewing out an insane amount of blue fire onto the forest below, instantly searing off half a square mile of forest. The soldiers never knew what hit them. As the flames burned, Kairo made another motion with his hand, and they died down into nothing, leaving only ashes.

----------

Floroma Meadow, outside Bridgetown

Arin lay against the ground, her face towards the sky, looking at the clouds.

Clouds. Indoors. For Arin, it was not a strange thought. All of Lusitania's great chambers had skies of their own, from purple, to blue, to pink, to green, with clouds of all colors. They were worlds in their own right.

She brushed a hand against the soft grasses of the meadow, feeling the petals of a single flower of the thousands within the massive chamber. So delicate. Like her, in a way. That was the same hand, that, a year ago, a human teenager had unwittingly torn off in his eagerness to get to Arin. Humans tended to be fascinated with Travelers, and they tended to share the same fascination, although theirs was more cautious.

"Hey!" sounded a voice. The one she had been waiting for. Sitting up on her back, Arin looked across the meadow. Wading through the sea of flowers was Lusitania, wearing a sunny dress and a sombrero-style hat, carrying a basket of flowers. "Sorry I'm late!"

Arin grinned. The ship itself was one of her best friends. Odd, yes, considering that Lusitania was an intelligence larger than entire planets. A frightening thought, really, and Arin wondered what their relationship was like from her perceptive. She imagined it being like making friends with a dust mite, or a bacterium. In terms of relative scale, she was much, much less than a bacterium to Lusitania.

"No you're not," Arin called back. She teleported next to the ship's avatar, causing a slight whoosh of displaced air. "You're always here."

Lusitania only smiled in reply. "Well then, shall we begin?"

Deep in the superstructure

Radarr hummed to himself, moving around on the dreamdrive and running his repairs. He'd seen some damage from overuse, so he'd increased the time it took to charge and was upping the system strength. Stork was there as well, because Radarr coldnt get to the dreamdrive easily withought the help of Storks ship. Radarr finished tightening the last bolt and restored the power, wiping oil from his hands and putting the wrench back to where it had been on his belt, and went back onto the Condor, finished with his work. He turned on the walkie-talkie he had and screeched his report and appology to Lusatania for he inconvinience, then went on about his buisness

Careful, quitely open the door. Don’t make it creak and your home free

Creak

“Damn it!” the Marglot girl swore under her breath. The slight vibrations coming from the ceiling above told her that her father had heard the door.

She leaned on one hip next to the open door, counting the second until he would arrive.

“Three…two…one”

“Embry? What are you doing?” her father came down the stairs, his glasses on, tie undone.

“I was going to go outside.” she replied. Taking a step towards the door.

“where are you going?” he asked. She took another step

“Oh you know here and there.” she said, another step towards freedom.

“Your not leaving Marglot again are you?” Another step “You know how your mother and I feel about that” he said.

“Yea dad I know, see ya!” she said slamming the door behind her.

Ah sweet freedom.

Embrythia walked down the road, smiling at the people that went by. It was a warm day in Marglot, totally sunny. If it could be called that, considering they didn’t really have a sun. She looked up at the sky, a beautiful pale blue like her mothers eyes. She looked to the left. A giant gray pillar reached into the sky. The elevator to the Ship Lusitania. It was crazy how they had always been there. It was crazy to think a ship could hold her whole world. Not to mention a living ship.

Her father had been spectacle when she told him that the ship had spoken to her in the form of a girl around her age. Even with solid proof he didn’t believe her. He thought the girl was a hologram the humans had made to fool the Marglot’s. That was father, always strong minded, like daughter like father.

Embry made her way to the closest elevator, which wasn’t more then 3 blocks away from her home. She has already been on the lower levels several times and enjoyed searching the ships many rooms. It had whole ecosystems in one room!

She ducked under one of the chains that one of the random hippie had put up. Some of her people had decided not to venture to the higher up land. And wanted no one else to. But they didn’t have any real power over anyone. They were just a group of people who wanted to stay away from humans. She stepped into the elevator which wasn’t really crowded. No one really wanted up in the Lusitania anyway. So there was never any line. She tapped her thigh as the elevator shot up at hyper speed, she faltered a bit and had to grab onto the side. She was never going to get used to that.

The elevator stopped with a ding and she got off onto the lower level of the Lusitania.

She put the key to her home into the pocket of her jean shorts and zipped up her hoodie, it was colder here. She slung her back pack over one shoulder and began walking. Hopefully she wouldn’t run into anyone

Lower Echelon of Lusitania

Michael wandered across the lower echelon, almost dragging his steps on the metallic floor. Michael had nothing better to do but, walk around Lusitania and learn more about the massive structure that held more and more mysteries. Michael looked toward one of the avatars of Lusitania, who smiled at him with her young appearance. Michael's physical features were only machine, so all he look into her direction to confirm that he noticed her greeting. Michael didn't see that as enough so he decided to stop and start a small conversation.

"Hello Lusitania, you are looking happier than usual." Michael said with his deep monotone voice.

"Thanks for noticing. you know you don't have to walk everywhere" Lusitania siad with a joyful smile.

"I've told you before, I'd move slow and notice things that aren't seen when moving quickly. I have forever to see every aspect of you anyway" Michael said as he began to walk again.

"I guess I'll see you again somewhere else." Lusitania said as Michael walked away.

"I guess I will." Michael answered.

Michael walked without saying a word to any that passed him. Anyone who was a stranger to his presence, often stared at his immense size. Michael stood at 12 ft and could easily startle someone with his mysterious and intimidating presence. Michael had passed many Scirin, Pragma, and those of the Marglot race. Michael had been curious of the world of Marglot and how it and how its people came to be. Michael was very close to the elevator that led to planet within Lusitania. Michael needed to know of this world, in order to learn more and give the Collective more information.

Upper East Section of Lusitania: Pragma Information Level K-23

Numerous translucent numbers and symbols zoomed around and about Daigali's head as he stood by his floating holographic information terminal within the brightly lit Pragma section of the Lusitania. His eyes glowed brightly as the streams of mathematical data continued to download into his core memory unit via his inner transmitter.

"Fascinating..." he said quietly to himself as bit and pieces of the geology of the strange new world of Marglot began to fuse together forming a rough skeletal map of Marglot. "A whole new world right below our feet." he repeated quietly to himself as he moved his hand to touch the skeletal map when suddenly a holographic image of a female Pragma formed next to his map of Marglot stopping the upload almost suddenly.

"Forgive the intrusion Daigali. I did not which to interrupt your upload." said the holograph in a quiet and calm tone.

"Ah Kalia! To what do I owe this pleasure!" said Daigali as he raised his right hand touching the air causing the skeletal image of Marglot to disappear in an instant before turning his attention back to the image of Kalia.

"Well Daigali we seem to have a situation in level K-03. A Marglotian male has demanded to speak to a information specialist regarding his son, however my access to the proper information is limited and I was wondering if you could..." her voice trailed off a as sudden crashed turned her attention to the side before facing Daigali once more.

"And you want me to come down and assist in the matter..." said Daigali as he adjusted his hair with a flick of his hand.

"If it wouldn't be too much trouble.." Kalia replied hesitantly wringing her hands together.

"Say no more." he said as he raised his hand slightly. "I will be down in a few moments." he said as Kalia gave a short smile before his terminal shut down with a flash and he walked out through the sliding double doors behind him.

The hallways outside the equaled the lighting inside as he walked down the hallway towards the elevators leading to the lower sections of the Pragma center passing by other Pragma downloading various data on the new planet of Marglot that seemed to peak nearly all the Pragma's curiosity these days.

Stepping inside the small elevator Daigali waited a few moments before the doors closed behind him. "Level K-03 please" he said with a firm tone as the elevator quickly responded to the voice activated tone plummeting the elevator downward suddenly stopping on level K-03.

As the doors opened Daigali spotted the trouble instantly as a tall, muscular middle aged Margoltian male with dark black, medium length hair continued to argue with three female Pragma assistant workers one of which being Kalia.

"I want to know where my son is!" demanded the man as he slammed his hand once more onto the metal desk deepening the indent he apparently made earlier.

"I believe that I may be of some assistance." said Daigali in a polite but firm tone as he walked up next to the man.

"And who might you be?" shouted the disgruntled man in a angry as he turned to face the sleek looking Pragma.

"I am Daigali XJ-339. A informational specialist for the Pragma. I hear you are looking for your son?" Daigali said as the mans eyes widened suddenly.

"You know where he is?" said the man frantically as he grabbed Daigali shaking him slightly.

"Now now! We'll have no more of that!" he said as he broke free of the mans grasp. "Come, follow me. It is far too public here." he said as he led the Marglotian down a corridor to the right.

"Hey Kalia! You better call level K-19 to repair that desk of yours..." said Daigali to Kaila via a mental transmission as she flashed a quick smile before the doors closed behind them.

Bridge

Someone had accidentally spilled some sort of drink onto the main circut board, again, so Radarr had come to repair it, as usual. He gave a little salute and screech of greeting to the admiral, and set to work inside the console. Some parts had come loose and were in the bottom of the conduit, and Radarr threw them out after checking to see if they were broken.

"Hey, man, Sorry but is there a bathroom up here?" Stork asked, looking a slightly paler green at that particular moment. All the people pointed to the bathroom, and he went there quickly.

Radarr hooked in new circut breakers, and new wires for them, and crawled from the conduit, closing it behind him, and scrambling back to the outer halway after giving another salute and a farewell. Stork exited the bathroom and made his way back as well

Likona Bridge, Somewhat Seven Miles from Kiron City

"Scum."

The single word passed through Thomas' lips as he reloaded his K-2 Battle Pistol. He was crouched behind the dusty old stone beside the bridge, as flames of burning red blasted over the top of the rock, slowly chipping away it's existence. Thomas turned the side of the rocket, shooting the narrow bullet directly into a Pairso's head. "One down..." he said. Suddenly, a huge black ball of flame smashed into the rock, smashing it into pieces, most of which rained down onto Thomas' back. "****!" he yelled, noticing one of the slick black robes of the Fotia. However, Heaven was looking down on him, as it wasn't Kairo.

"Dieeeeeee." The Fatio said, it said, droning the "e" like a snake would with an "s". He smiled with his dark black, cracked lips and hurled another black fireball, which Thomas narrowly managed to dodge. Thomas reared behind another boulder and brought out what looked like a small penknife, but was actually a micro walkie talkie.

"Lusitania! Get me some god damn help now! We got a bloody Fatio!" Another black fireball hit the boulder, followed by miniature red ones, and once again Thomas narrowly dodged. He blindly fired two bullets, one impounding a Pairso's shoulder, the other shooting far off from where they stood. The Pairso with the bullet in it's shoulder collapsed, and Thomas ducked behind another boulder. Come on Thomas, he thought to himself, hit the bloody thing! The boulder was smashed, once again, by a black fireball, and Thomas was struck by the volley of smaller red ones. He fell to the floor, a huge burn on the side of his face, and fired a single shot, which shot straight forward for the Fatio.

The Fatio was not pleased. This was supposed to be a simple operation, he had been told. One human, two tops, take him out and done. Never did he expect Thomas Thalsan, however. No one expects Tom.

Tom eyes open wide as the bullet penetrated straight through the Fatio's armoured robe and straight into his chest. The Fatio clutched his chest and fell over the side of the bridge, into the now-waterless river. The Pairso's suddenly stopped throwing fireballs and stared in amazement at their dead commander. They stared at the Fatio, then Thomas, then the Fatio again, then Thomas, before running off. One stayed however, unknown to Thomas, as he limped back to the nearest stop, he was followed.

The Pairso following Tom, known as Slevan to his race, smiled at his luck. With the Fatio gone, there was a space open, and this was obviously his ticket to the job.

OOC: Slevan is going to be a "rival" to Tom in my later posts...like, someone who never really gets killed but keeps appearing to Tom over and over again.

Cliché, some might say. And HELL YEAH, I say. xD

(OOC: I dunno, I probably stole that name from somewhere too without realizing it (like I did the name of the ship, until Alana told me where I stole it from), but I can't remember

And it's Pairo, not Pairso. Geez, never look to Alana Marie to spell stuff for you.

Oh, Redmario, Funnyguy, seeing as how there's a war going on, Marglots don't generally run around in the open, certainly not interacting with the other races, but I'll let it pass this time. Don't let it happen again though. Alana doesn't count, she's not running around in the open. Most of the ship is empty, btw. )

Lusitania
The ship passed into Dreamspace without incidence, as smooth a transition as one could hope for. Her passengers, many and varied they were, felt nothing of course (save the Socalts, who were always sensitive to the interdimensional passages), but Lusitania herself had the sensors to see it. Every individual had a different perception of Dreamspace, and everyone saw something different in it. To one of her passengers, her view of Dreamspace would be impossible to comprehend, as was every other part of her existence. At the same time, she wondered what Dreamspace was like to each of her passengers, and wished she could see it from their eyes. They were so much like children to her, billions and billions of them.

A sense. One of the elevators from Marglot had been activated. The planet's purpose and origin where unknown to her, but she had her suspicions and theories. Even now a battle raged down below. A soldier called out for reinforcements. Unlike the rest of her body, Marglot didn't have the cameras, sensors, hologram projectors, or field generators that allowed her to keep track of everything that went on down there, so she had rely on the sensors of the soldiers were fought there. She relayed the information to commanders higher up, who in turn sent down more troops. So much senseless violence.

She opened up a line to one of her friends.

Lusitania Monorail
"Hey, do you want to meet someone new?" Lusitania queried Arin.

"Someone new?" Arin asked. "What do you mean?"

"There's a young female Marglot wandering nearby. She appears to have snuck off-world. Maybe you could become friends."

"Friends?" Arin scratched her head. Marglots weren't exactly the best candidates for friends these days. After all, there was a war going on. The Marglots were trying to overthrow the Grand Admiral and his Captains to commandeer the ship. She wondered how Lusitania felt about it; it was, after all, her body that they were fighting over. "Sure, why not?"

A slow deceleration could be felt as the monorail came to a halt. The doors opened, and Arin teleported outside onto the train station. Lusitania teleported after her. No, not really teleporting, just the hologram projectors shifting location. "This way," the ship pointed, and they walked towards that direction. Rounding the corner, Arin spotted a girl with absurdly pale skin and copious amounts of curly red hair, looking as very much like she was sneaking around. "Hi," she greeted. Lusitania's avatar, she noted, had disappeared.

Embrythia had been fishing for something in her backpack, but after fiddling around in it for over 6 minutes she couldn’t even remember what I was she was looking for.

“Hi” a voice to her left called.

Embry spun around. There was what appeared to be a human standing in front of her, though it was almost impossible to tell the difference between some humans, marglots and travelers. She seemed harmless enough, and it wasn’t as if she was attacking her.

“Uh..hi” she muttered under her breath.

There was a war going on between Marglot and the rest of Lusitania. Why? She had no idea, the ship was plenty big enough for everyone. And besides there were at least 50 giant rooms she had entered completely lacking life. If the humans had so graciously let the Travelers and other creatures live among them, why couldn’t they? Marglots looked enough like humans that they weren’t scary (though in some cases, like Embry, Marglots had features different form humans, bright hair colors, skin shades and eye colors. Not to mention the different eye shapes and sizes. All of which Embry possessed)

She tossed a lock of wavy, almost candy apple red, hair over her shoulder and stared at the girl with her neon eyes.

Embrythia was a walking clash of colors. She thought she looked like a clown sometimes. Though her features were soft, yet striking, and not painted on. With the clash of colors she stood out for sure with the humans. The only way she had managed to fit in once was by covering every inch of her pale skin, pulled up her hood and donned a pair of dark sunglasses. Even then, her lips and nose were slightly different.

Embry stuffed her hands into the pocket of her navy blue hoodie and blew her bangs out of her face.

First interaction with someone besides the Ship…interesting

[[OOC: I think you said the Marglots were the ones that started the attacks first not the humans right? If that be the case, lets say Embry's Father had fudged some of the truth to her (as most goverments do to their people) ]]

(OOC: Yeah, it's the Marglots rising up against the humans, not the other way around.)

The Marglot (if that was what she was) merely put her hands in her pockets and blew her bangs out of her face. She was oddly dressed and looked somewhat like what the humans called "clowns". Arin had difficulty telling the difference between Marglots and humans most of the time. Even though Travelers looked a lot like humans, save for the changes in color, she still had difficulty discerning from the human sub-species, and Marglots weren't all that different. She supposed she would have to take Lusitania's word for it.

"Uhh... what are you doing here?" she queried.

“Looking around the lower levels, I am curious.” she stated flatly. She wasn’t doing anything wrong obviously, other wise the ship would have notified someone the last time she was here. She wasn’t hurting anything.

“If you found out your whole world was inside a ship the size of a bigger world you would be curious too.” she murmured more for herself.

She looked down, there were small goose bumps on her leg. Maybe she shouldn’t have worn shorts, though it was warm and pleasant in Marglot, obviously the ship was air conditioned. Next time she would wear pants.

By the girls face she could tell she thought Embry looked different. Of course, she was different. Always was. Maybe Travelers dressed differently from Humans. She had noticed Humans and Marglots wore the same sort of clothes. She looked down at herself.

What was so stranger about jean shorts, a blue tank top and sweatshirt? She didn’t see it, but then again she didn’t see through the eyes of the girl.

radarr rounded on him, screeching his disapproval
"Ok, ok, I get it, no more gloom and doom today!" Stork said, and continued following, Radarr still giving him a disapproving look. He wasnt looking where he was going and ran into a girls leg.
"Uhh, Hi. Can I ask what you guys are doing out so close to the elevators?" Stork asked, and gave a nervous chuckle. radarr gave him a look again, then turned bact to the two people who'd been talking and gave a greeting sqwawk and a wave

“Looking around the lower levels, I am curious," the girl stated flatly. "If you found out your whole world was inside a ship the size of a bigger world you would be curious too.” This last bit was softer, as though to herself.

"Well," a new voice said. Arin turned to see Lusitania's avatar, still dressed in that sunny dress and hat, appear suddenly between the two of them. "Glad to see you two have met. Arin, this is Embrythia. Embrythia, this is Arin, a Traveler. Be careful with her, or you might tear off a limb," she added towards Emrythia, waving around a finger like a parent scolding a child, but then she smiled.

Suddenly, an odd-looking human male (or maybe it was a Marglot) with greenish skin rounded the corner and bumped into Arin. She jumped forward, sharp pain shooting up her leg. She bent over to look at it, it didn't appear to have suffered any kind of damage, but there was a possibility the bone was fractured. He was followed by what looked like a llama that had learned to walk on its hind legs. "Uhh, Hi. Can I ask what you guys are doing out so close to the elevators?" the greenish male asked.

Arin shrugged. "Just walking around," she replied, then glanced back at Embrythia.

(OOC: Crap, now I have to edit. Excuse me for a sec. And if you mean by "Neutral" as in "Neutral territory", no. The entire ship is claimed by the humans and the other alien races, and Marglot is for Marglots. It's just "empty", but human soldiers can go anywhere within hours.)

Emrby frowned. She was a Traveler. Well that was rude. It was painfully obvious she was in pain, no pun intended.

“Unsafe how? The definition of ‘Safe’ varies by its user. And my definition of safe would probably be your definition of ‘unsafe’” she grinned wryly.

Embry turned her eyes back to Arin.

“Your leg okay? she asked. Unlike most of her people she knew a thing g or two about the many creatures that roamed Lusitania’s levels.

Lusitania appeared beside Arin, Of course Emrbythia jumped, she had only ever seen her once.
She waved with a nervous smile, it was creepy sometimes. To talk to the being that was the Ship, but you were in her. It was kind of a brain bender but if you thought about it too long it felt like reality was warped and then it took you several hours to be able to view the world the way you used to.

Embry loved the rush of almost getting caught, or pitching the perfect witty comeback. Sometimes her parents grew tired of it, as did most of the adult figures in her district. Several officer’s knew her by name, and Embry always thought that any other adult figure could sense she was a trouble maker. She didn’t want to hurt anyone. But rules were meant to be broken. If they weren’t revolutions would never start.

If you thought about it, if rules were never broken. She wouldn’t be here. Adaptations in DNA were broken rules. The DNA sets out a set plan, and then pop it is broken and a new trait is born from it. Which brings on evolution. At least that was Embry’s theory. That’s what got her through the day. That was what she was going by.

She chekced her clock, she only had 30 minutes left to explore the ship before her father would come looking for her. And she definatly didn’t want that.

“Well I better be off. Things to do places to explore.” she stated.

“See you later?” she said directed to Arin and the green man.

“Except you, I will be seeing you everywhere…” she said to Lusitania’s avatar.

Oh geeze don’t start thinking like that again…

She turned on her heel and walked down the hallway.
