I would say Caesar, Napoleon, or Alexander.

I agree minus alexander.
He killed many innocent persians by burning persepolis, destroying much culture with it. He was just a bloodthirsty genius, but genius does not make up for the former.

"Best" ruler doesn't mean the ruler who has done the least evil acts. The greatest men in history are usually very bad men.
I picked Napoleon.

Re: Best General
Alex the great was the best but I chose Hannibal because of his wicked battle tactics that could only be copied by JRR Tolkien

ALEXANDER THE GREAT.
Man history owes him big time, a general like him can never be forgotten.

Re: Best General
Hail Caesar. :D
No really, he was the person who prevented Rome from falling into chaos, andhe seemed like a decent person. I don't like any of the others, anyway.

Re: Best General
I must disagree about Alexander being bloodthirsty, his men got out of control and burned the city, he did not support this act.
Also, I forgot one important person, Cyrus the great. Cyrus was the founder of the Persian empire which Alexander defeated.
And I do mean William the conquerer, I've seen both names used.

Re: Best General
I'm sorry y'all who think that Caesar was the best, but Alex the Great o'er thar in Egypt was quite a conquerer. He had the... largest empire before the Romans, am I right? That was quite a long time before, as well. And he's a tad bit less evil than The Hunster. :o
Go Alexander! :D
