Default Akira 2009

What are your views on the upcoming remake of this anime classic? Also, do you think them making it a two-parter will make it like the original manga (except having the Great manhatten Empire instead of the Great Tokyo Empire)?

Personally, I am excited that Akira is making a comeback, but what scares me is:
a) It had a setting change, from Japan to the USA
b) Produced by Leonardo DeCaprio
c) We ruined Godzilla and other japanese movies when we made remakes.

I predict the first half will be great, but once Matthew Broderick discovers that Akira has laid its eggs in a Madison Square Garden it's all over.

I thought Godzilla was at least bearable.

My opinion is reserved until I see a Trailer for the remake. Though, I don't see why we need to remake a movie in which the original is still great to watch.

I loved Akira, when I first saw it (Which was in 2007, I know, but I couldn't get R rated movies as a kid.)

I would "love" to see Leo's interpretation of it, though, that being said, I'll bet he is a fan of the original.

edit: inb4 Leo is a clost weeaboo
