My idea, however, is that because GBA compatibility has been lost during the transition into DSi, games such as R/S/E and FR/LG will become "DSi-ware", downloadable through points and automated into the DSi's system. If my assumptions are correct, then something similar to a memory card will accompany the DSi.

Thanks for the news, but I don't get it. China usually gives Nintendo systems to the U.S. first. The Wii relased in U.S. first. Nintendo DS (regular one) released in U.S. first.

Hey, here is the catch, since this is comming out in North America in early 2009, they might make a Platinum Version package with the DSi. I really hope it is in black with that package.

Most things are made in China because of such available resources. China also makes a good portion of its economic industry off of manufacturing products for companies, so it's a symbiotic relationship of sorts.

*Inner Nintendo-fanboy makes a high-pitched squeal* That would be badass. I hope they do make a bundle-set, because that would be epic. The downside....no GBA insertion activity. DSiWare will have to make up for this loss.

Yeah, thanks for info the.

Yeah, when I first heard that it won't have GBA slot, I wonder how the creators will fix how to get unobtainable pokemon, like the starters, while using the new ds. My first thought was that they was going to remake G/S/C. But downloading the games to the DSi-ware will be much better. (even though I still want g/s/c remakes >.<)

Well, I suppose it's wrong to make such a big deal out of losing the GBA slot. Despite having lost backwards compatibility, Nintendo is taking the DSi in the right direction. It's pointless to take up room for a gaming generation that no longer has new releases. Nintendo excluded GBA compatibility for a much bigger, newer approach onto 7th generation gaming.

Platinum was released before the announcing of the DSi and its possible that Game Freak was not alerted of the third platform. There's also a chance that current DS games can be inserted into future portable handhelds by Nintendo, whereas then it can also be considered backwards compatibility (Way into the future, people).

News

It has been confirmed that the DSi can download and store games from the online DS Shop. A built-in web browser is the used method for accessing it. The system uses points and works the same way as it does with the Wii. Sadly, it won't make it for Christmas and will be released in 2009, estimated pricing predicted to be around 180 U.S.D.
