Time Capsule question

I'm completely at a loss... trying to trade my Yellow pokemon to my Gold game. I have ONLY RBY pokemon on my gold team, and I have everything set up right, but it won't work. The yellow game sits for a second and then says "line closed due to inactivity", and my gold game eventually just says, "your friend is not ready yet, come back later." I've traded between my pokemon games before and know how to do it, I just haven't done it between these two games. My only thought is: I currently have both games in GBA's with a GBA cable, for whatever reason can this only be done with two GB's and GB cables?

R U using time capsule instead of regular trade on Gold? do both games work? does the link cable work?

Just to tell you, you can only use the OLD Link cable. You cannot use the newest version.(the purple and grey one.) Since the games are for game boy color, you have to use the GBC link cable. (Which is a solid black) I know you have to use it to trade between two Generation one games. And with the Time Capsule, it must be the same.

Same thing happened to me!

So, you have to have 2 GBCs and a GBC cable?...

Crap.

Don't have either, but i do have ONE GBC.

I do not under stand why it is not working, you should keep on trying or trade your pokes to red/blue and then trade them in to see if that works.

It might be because you have G/S/C moves on your pokemon on your gold team?

I think it warns you if that is the case......

just to update in case anyone else has this question....

you DO have to have 2 game boy colors and a GBC link cable for it to work. i was using advances and an advance cable, so that's why i was not able to make it work.
