Default The Worst Part!

NAMES.

That's the hardest thing for me. I need names for my fictions, and no matter how hard I think, it's hard to come up with anything good! Sometimes I already have the names planned, but other times it's completely dreadful when you have a great idea but the main character doesn't have a name. DX Looking up names and stuff doesn't always work either because you want to be original.

And I don't mean 'Bob' or 'Jane'. XD

What the hardest part for you guys?

The hardest part for me would be to make people happy with a story about something many people didn't see (or like). Plus, it's hard to get the personalities of the characters down exactly right, down the way SEGA intended. Still, it's fun to experiment, and things have gotten rather interesting with some changes I've made.

Descriptions are also killers, although they seem to be a strong point of mine once I get it done. However, I still prefer making truly evil villains XD.

The title.

Seriously, though. It takes me a while to come up with a fitting title, but once I find the right one, it is like something clicks in my head.

Lately, I have found one word titles to fit my stories perfectly and display the most, I don't know, strength? of my stories. (Ex. "Authority" , "Perplexity" , "Shirley").

For names, I usually have a nifty list of 100+ male and female names with definitions and random background as such.
Behind the Name is an awesome website, really.

Continuing stories after long breaks, and titles. I'm fond of dual-meaning titles.

Thinking up of an interesting plot for my stories is almost always challenging, but making a good beginning is even harder. Once you get into the story, though, everything runs smoothly.

REVISING. D< I hate that part since it usually takes me just as long to revise a story as it does to write. Going over and nitpicking for errors, inconsistencies, and ways to reword things is a nice way to get a daylong headache.

Haha, me too. XD I love writing and all, but I get bored checking for grammar error and such. XD

Besides that, making sure my story has no plotholes. For instance, "Nothing, Everything" is part police story, so I had to make sure the policemen in my story look at every detail in the case that I didn't have them forgot to do something and such.

Getting the idea is easy enough for me. Ideas for plots are always bouncing around in my head, and I have two fic ideas right now that I've only just put prologues onto paper for. It's fleshing it out, adding plentiful description, and just turning it into an actual story that sucks for me. Sometimes I just lose all my will to write...

Don't lose your will, Larvi! O_O

But I'd say that fleshing it out is the hardest part for me, too.
I have plenty of ideas, but getting them to work can be tricky.

Proofreading is one of the worst parts. It's just so boring, it makes my head hurt, and I get discouraged about my story because grammar isn't my best section. I now understand why some authors prefer betas. =s

Story-wise, it has to be how to get through the boring parts. You know, those parts that have no action whatsoever but are crucial to the plot? I hate those, I always get stuck on them until I figure out a way to write it in a way that totally doesn't bore the reader. Yeah, give me action to write any time.

There's also the way you end a chapter or a story. I have a hard time wording the last sentence(s) just right, to give it that bang it deserves.

The hardest part of making a fan fiction for me has to be writing the chapters. I'm pretty literate and I'm a fast typer but I'm also a first class procrastinator. It took me two months to write the third chapter of Operation Main Frame because I just lost interest for it, I guess. Naming my characters is a pretty hard feat to accomplish too; when I'm writing stories, the name has to fit the character, otherwise I put the story on hiatus or kill off the character.

I keep lists of names I like as far as names go; naming is a time consuming process, for me, because in writing, names are crucial. The reader formulates a great deal about a character and story based on the chosen names.... But I enjoy it. c:

My hardest task would definitely be writing the first chapter. I can never seem to find a starting point that doesn't make me cringe, teehee.

I actually find the start the easiest piece to write. I love penning down expositions. It's what comes after that begins to get on my nerves. I love writing, but after I've finished introducing my characters and plot, I lose the spark to write. It's odd, but a common problem. I guess I just need to overcome it.
