I would say Espeon and Alakazam for Fire Red and Leaf Green. For Diamond i would say Gallade and Slowking.

I'd go with Hypno, it has great SP. Defence and, though it can't learn every other attack like an Alakazam, I'd still prefer a Hypno to it. Or a Gardevoir, those are pretty good too.

Alakazam's good in FR/LG, since you can't find Gardevoir or Metagross until after the Elite Four. I used to use Hypno, but I figured out he kinda sucked at lv. 35 and replaced him with my trusty Kadabra. I don't have my GBA anymore, so I can't get Alakazam. D:

Alakazam is pure win once you breed a male Medicham with all elemental punches with a female Abra. Then you get...AN ABRA WITH TELEPORT, THUNDER PUNCH, ICE PUNCH, AND FIRE PUNCH!!!!!!! Too bad that would suck in D/P....Alakzam was MUCH better in R/S/FR/LG/E.

Slowking also has pretty high Special Attack.

Alakazam is going to do the most for you in-game because the storyline favors sweeperish Pokemon.

Also Alakazam gains levels with less exp than Metagross, who we probably wouldn't be using in FRLG anyways.

I would have to say Metagross, he is very powerful with strong stats and moves. But, in the 1st generation of pokemon, I'd have to say Alakazam.
