Hmmm, you really do know what you are doing, impressive. Well I wish you luck on your project, A suggestion for the title, keep everything simple. Its quite good at the moment but dont get carried away ;).

Mine: http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/a...emonLinked.png

Not fantasic, and the image is from the first version, but as you can see there is not cramming. The only effects are when you touch the buttons they change.

Good work :).

For those of you who have been waiting on an update or thought this was another abandoned pokemon project here is some good news! For one I scratched the original design for the main page and got a much more attractive looking one designed, I'll post pictures later. As for game updates. The mapping engine is almost complete! Fully featured with multiple layers(including walk under tile layer), map loading spots, and shop entrances. Now just to show how the mapping will work I am releasing a link to my map editor I designed for this game, feel free to play around with it (saving is disabled for demo purposes) get used to the way the map maker works because later in the game players will be able to buy land and construct it with a modified version (which this version is still in beta as well) anyway the link...Map Maker Enter the tile width and height then it will take you to the main page. NOTE**This Map Maker is not for the faint of internet connections as there is 1000+ tiles and its on a free host at that...bare with the 3 minute load times it is worth it... let me know what you all think this is 1 of the many things to come to Pokemon:Evo! Sincerely, James.....

I hate to keep posting after myself here but a new update has arrived! My mapping engine is 97.5% complete!(Few MINOR things to add) I will provide a link where you can register login and test the map engine out first hand! (It is a very generic shotty map, along with everyone being the same sprite, and yes I said everyone it has Multiplayer Display Support) so please before I have to post after myself again someone comment on this. And I am in need of some help here as well if anyone can lend a hand.

I need the following:
1) Anyone experienced in Ajax/php/javascript/mysql to help with the main coding of it all.
2) Spriters...yes everyone needs you sly devils but as said before I plan to create my own game using this engine when it is completed and am going to need original work. Please anyone interested give me a shout.

Now onto the Map Engine Links
Register First
Login Page

That is all your gonna need the login page if authenticated will auto direct you to the game. Which right now is only a very basic setup on the page, it will look alot better once the entire thing is finished (Engine work first then comes webGui).

WARNING: I have no image preloading so the map will come up looking funny for a little bit it shouldnt take long to load and once loaded will save cached versions of the map so the next visits will not take long at all. Just let it load and test it out let me know what you all think.

Thanks again .....James.

I've tried accessing this site twice now. After logging in, I get escorted to a page with a little empty chatbox-looking thing that says "UPDATES:" and a picture of a gym with Rhydon dolls scattered around it. However, I can't interact with it at all, and it doesn't load any further. Mind you, I kept the window open for about half an hour while doing other stuff, so it can't just be slow.

I can probably take some grading requests now. But don't all rush me at once. :/

Hey,

Thanks for registering to check it out Nerd, I see that you created an account and are at the top left of the map (generic starting spot) Have you used the arrow keys to move around yet? Depending on your browser you may have to click on the screen once and use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate around the map. Youll see my character sitting on the gym roof. As for interactivity there isnt much at the moment you can walk around and test the map scrolling, walking, and solid/walk under layers. Let me know what you think and if you still cant get it working Ill look into it albeit it works on all 4 of my computers though using Firefox and Internet Explorer. Let me know....James

Quick Edit here...The layout as said before will not be this shotty when completed this is just a quick thrown together on a page layout right now..

UPDATE: Layout got a quick throw together of something better than the crappy screen before. It auto adjusts the size based on your screen size and has some images now....

Wow... I didn't even try moving around the first couple of times. When the screen came up, all I could see was the upper-left corner, as you need to scroll to see the rest of the screen, so I thought the map was glitched up and not fully loaded...

I feel stupid now.

It is pretty cool, though.

Hey no problem, it makes more sense now that I have borders around it showing its not glitched. I dont know your screen size resolution but if its less than 1440 in width the screen looked small to you im sure, I have the auto adjust feature on it right now but any browser larger than 800x600 and small than 1440x*** then yours is not complete so hang in there. Anyway Ill have instructions as to how to operate the game once its finished. But yeah that was the basic map there will be alot more things to come. Do you like the feel of how it went though? Screen scrolling and movement I mean. Im making this a real time browser based game and its going to be hard to get everything to work for everyone. So let me know how it worked out for you. Thanks again nerd!

The movement was fairly smooth, and it definitely didn't lag at all. (Which is awesome; one of my hugest pet peeves with Crater was that the screen had to re-load with every movement). However, I think you could use extra animation frames to make the movement 'flow' a little better, at least in later versions/the finished game.

What I mean is that, for example, in mainstream Pokemon games, whenever you press a direction to move to the next space, you actually see yourself take a step. In your game, the little Rhydon doll just moves to the next space, as if pushed by some unseen hand, rather than looking as if it is actually walking.

That's all I could see; it looks great so far.

EDIT: Also, as the production of the game comes along, I may consider contributing a few of my sprites. I'll keep thinking about it as you make updates and such, and I'll keep you posted.
I'm not an experienced spriter (most of my computer-drawn Fakemon come out looking a little... meh...), but I do have a lot of hand-drawn sprites I'm proud of, which I can scan in, so long as someone else is willing to touch them up a bit. As far as helping out in other ways, I don't know anything about scripting, but I can put maps together with tiles, among a few other little tasks.

Wonderful! I appreciate for one the feedback and for two the offer to help out! And yes you are correct the movement isnt fluid at all its just a 4 frame animation for that sample there will be 3 frames for each direction that alternate left leg both legs then right like usual game animations, in the end that is. Again I appreciate it and I will keep all posted...James

Hey, I just found this just by browsing along, so I tried out the map for ya, and I have to say though it is pretty glitchy and I don't like how there's only Rhydon and stuff, the movement is VERY smooth and there is zero lag. I'd say you're off to a very good start.

Oh, by the way, I'm a spriter, but I have not done any work for a long time and I cannot do originals, but if you need recolors or fusions or something you can tell me and I'll help.

Thanks for the reply, what did you find that was glitchy about it? Out of curiosity. The sprites used and the directions used are just a beta phase I could easily add more movement, but the sprites are static atm because I may not even make it pokemon walking around it might just be trainers etc. As there is no full blown registration yet you couldnt choose your pokemon either. But other than that did you notice anything? Im glad to hear that there is no lag on a free host :) that is going to mean flawless execution on a paid host or dedicated server even. But thanks again to all that replied, I will continue to post updates. (Today is my daughters birthday so probably nothing being done today. Give it a couple days and Ill have some new stuff to test out. Thanks again.

Alright! This game is certainly going to be great when it comes out.

The glitchy sort of things I found were(but I didn't do it for long):
While moving, all other sprites would sort of flash from being there to not being there then being there again.
The camera would move from the sprite instead of keeping the sprite in the middle.
Couldn't go inside buildings.
There was a Rhydon doll on top of a building.
