Default Want a REAL Super Smash Brothers Brawl tournament? Click here

Since the OP of the "first" tournament thread seems incapable of properly setting up a tournament, I feel the need to open a more legitimately run tourney. If you're reading this thread because you want competition, you've come to the right thread.

Of course, there are a few guidelines for the tournament, just nothing ridiculous.

I will accept 16 reliable members to play in this tournament. If we get 32, we'll play 32 people. You will be randomly paired with one opponent each round. Each round will consist of a battle to win 2 matches (so a maximum of 3 matches played per opponent). Each match will have the following rules:

-4 lives
-8 minutes
-no items
-character changing is allowed

The first game of each round will be played on Final Destination. The second game of each round will be played on a stage selected by the loser of the first game. Should a third game be required (meaning both players have each won one game apiece), the loser of the second game selects the stage. The following stages are banned:

-Mushroomy Kingdom
-Rumble Falls
-Norfair
-Spear Pillar
-WarioWare
-New Pork City
-75m
-Mario Bros
-Flat Zone 2
-Hyrule Temple
-Big Blue
-Distant Planet
-Pictochat
-All Custom Stages

Here's an example of how two players will play a round:

Player A is hosting the match to be played with Player B. A sets the match rules to 4 lives, with the timer set to 8 minutes, and the stage selection set to "loser picks". Player B joins the game hosted by Player A. Player A and Player B select their characters, and then Player A selects Final Destination as the map. The first game is played. When that game is over, both players may change characters, and then the loser of the first game selects the map for the second game. Should the winner of the first game win the second game, a third game is not to be played. Should the loser of the first game win the second game, a third game is to be played to determine the winner of that round.

Now, when you play, please remember the scores of your matches. To determine your score, count the number of lives you have at the end of each game. Scoring will help determine rankings for the 2nd round, and also help break ties, should there be any.

When you sign up for this tournament, please post your contact information (AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, etc) and Brawl Friend Code.

Obviously, I'm partaking in this tournament. So now we wait for 15 more people.

Sounds ok to me.
Tiers are according to win/loss ratio, then stock points, correct?

Anyway, I can play on weekends (and only weekends). Info are on my sig.

I'm not going to set tournament dates until we get all the competitors. Also, Blackmag, your sister is welcome to play.

You are not required to tell us what character you are going to use. Sometimes it is a good idea to surprise your opponent. In any case, I'll be updating the original post.

And yes, kenny, rankings will be based on w/l then kill scores.

Ok. You might want to try this instead:

1. w/l ratio
2. Opponent w/l ratio
3. stock #

The reason why #2 is used is because this way you can determine the quality of opponents the people have played against on average. For example, a guy with 2-1 lost to a 3-0, won to a 1-2 and a 2-1 would be better than a guy who lost to a 2-1, and beat two 1-2's. Usually all you do is just add up the w/l ratio of all opponents that person faces, and use that ratio to determine who is better. This has been tried and true for mid-scale tournaments like yours for a better prediction of the quality of a given player.

Stage list: I think the one I have is pretty good, but it's your choice in any case. ;)
