you need to breed for good ivs there what stats your pokemon start with.
Evs you train for you fight different pokemon to get up different stats.
I have no clue what ev berries are.

In moron terms IV are called individual values or stats
EVs are Equivalent Values and you train on pokemon which give certain EV's to make your stats better, but go to the guides section and go to an EV guide

IV calculators show how many evs you have gained, but to know your pokemons IVs just go to summary and press right twice

If you are battling competetively they are pretty important.

IV's range from 0-31. Each of those EV's represents a boost in a stat.
Let's say an Azumarill has 0 Iv's in Hp, its Hp is 373 with 252 EV's in it
If it has 31 (MAX IV's) it has 404 with 252 Ev's in it.

That is a BIG DIFFERENCE
.

those are not normal IVs those are IV bred pokemon trying to have lvl 5 pokemon have 31 in each stat or a few stats is the maximum and you have to have EVd parents....even an EVd ditto....But Normal IVs are your Stats: Attack, Defence, SpAttack, SpDefence, Speed and Hp....Go to your pokemons stats and thats their current IV's....EV's are a bit difficult every 4 EVs=1 iv point so 1 more added to your stat...
