Default The game boy games die after awhile?

I heard on a thread that the gold/silver games do not save after awhile. Is this true for every pokemon game, including the ones for game boy advance? and if so, how long into the game do they die? because i have 120 hours already. thanks for any help :)

If the internal battery runs out, then yes, the game dies. You have to replace it for it to work again. I'm not sure about the GBA games. Luckily, I can still play my Crystal and Silver. :/

The strange thing about Emerald is that when the battery runs dry the time based events stop working but you save file is still there. Or maybe the battery isn't all empty; maybe when it's weak the time based events stop working, then later you cannot save. That happened to my Sapphire. No time based events worked and after a while the save file began to disappear more and more often. But don't worry about the GBA games, they warn you when the internal battery is low. Remember that when the battery is replaced the old save file will disappear.

What about on the DS games? They don't use the same battery, I'm assuming. Will they run out eventually too? Or did they safeguard it somehow?

Time-based events stop working do to a thing called "the Berry Problem." Basically, once you've amassed a certain amount of time on a file (not on the game itself, the individual file), all time-based events, such as berry growth or getting gifts from other people, stop working. This has no effect on your save file. You can restart, and the events will work again until you have reached the time once again. If you've got a copy of LeafGreen or FireRed, you can fix the Berry Problem. There are instructions in Serebii.net's FR/LG section somewhere...

Not sure how long the batteries go for but on my Silver I have near 230 hours and it still works fine.

Meh, I don't even notice it. It hasn't ran out yet, and I have about 200 some hours on each of my Pokemon games. (But I have about 300 some hours on Pearl.)

How is that funny?

Well all mine still work and lucky for me, I don't have the berry problem. I have about 200 or so hours on my pearl, over 600 on my emerald, ruby and saphire would have amassed over the years about 800 hours.

I don't really know anything about this, but I know that in RSE, if your game is about a year old, the time system will most likey fail. Meaning all time events like berry planting/growing will be stopped.

My diamond has hit 180 hours. Is it me or are most of the saving issues on the game boy colour games? Also time based events don't work at all on the pokemon GBA emulator.
Im scared my pokemon will die...
