Battle Tower help, hopefully the last time I'll ask...
The Battle Tower has been my greatest pastime lately. In the earlier rounds, I seem to do well with my physical and special sweepers, Weavile and Starmie, respectively. But I've been running into some trouble in the later rounds, and my two Pokemon agree with me when I say that we need a competent third member. Due to my team's weaknesses, I have formulated a list, if you may, of what we're looking for in our third and final team-member:
Good/Great Offensive stats
Decent Defensive stats (Decent if sweeper, good if tank)
Decent/Good Speed (Decent if tank, good if sweeper)
Moveset can have great type-coverage
Resistant/Neutral to most of these (listed from highest to lowest priority): Bug, Rock, Fire, Dark, Steel
BONUS: If this Pokemon can OHKO Regigas with a strong Fighting-type attack)
Possibilities (and why I'm considering/pending them):
Slaking (GREAT stats, good moveset, can learn Focus Punch, Substitute, EQ, and Giga Impact /weak to Fighting, Truant Ability
Rampardos (mind-boggling ATK/weak to Fighting, poor defenses [This can be remedied with Rock Polish and a Focus Sash, right?])
Drapion (good defensive stats, only one weakness/offenses are somewhat lacking)
Metagross (good offensive stats, good defensive stats, good type-coverage/weak to Fire and Ground)
Failed Attempts (and why they failed):
Dragonite (double weakness to Ice, unable to settle for anything but Life Orb)
Rhyperior (Fighting and Ground weakness, double weakness to Water and Grass, poor Sp DEF)
Mixed-Infernape (Naive nature couldn't take a hit)
So...can anyone help me?

Re: Battle Tower help, hopefully the last time I'll ask...
I'm thinking Infernape or Heravross.
Infernape@Life Orb
Jolly/Naive
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP/126 Attack, 126 Sp. Attack, 252 SPeed, 6 HP
Flare Blitz/Flamethrower(naive for this)
Grass Knot/Stone edge(Naive for Grass Knot)
Close Combat
T-Punch/EQ
Heracross@Choice Scarf
252 Attack/252 SPeed/ 6 HP
Adamant
SE
Close Combat
Pursuit/EQ/Night Slash/Aerial Ace
Megahorn
I prefer Heracross, but that's just me.

Yeah, I tried Naive Infernape, but it couldn't take a hit. So maybe I'll give Heracross a bash...

i might use a weavile with a focus sash, it's a great physical sweeper, and as long as they don't use a super effective attack you should be o.k.

I am using a Weavile currently, and she doesn't even need a Focus Sash; use her as a lead-off and she works perfectly.

Infernape is good with a Focus Sash. I'd say Rhyperior or Heracross.
Rhyperior@Leftovers
Solid Rock
Adamant (252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def)
-Stone Edge
-Earthquake
-Avalanche
-Hammer Arm
Hammer Arm because you wanted a move to try to OHKO Regigigas.

XD That's EXACTLY the moveset that I used, though the EV-spread was slightly different. Though, may I ask; wouldn't a Shell Bell be better, since it has all attacking moves?

Hm? I read on Serebii that it restored 1/8th of Maximum HP when damage is inflicted, while Leftovers restores 1/16th...or am I wrong?

Shell Bell restores a certain amount of HP depending on the damage you do, but based on what you said, I'd say the max it can restore is 1/8.

Oh...so it varies? Serebii needs to correct its description, then.

Yeah it doesn't restore the same amount all the time... I'd say Shell Bell is better.

Re: Battle Tower help, hopefully the last time I'll ask...
I got to 100 win streaks with this team
Gyarardos@Leftovers
Adamant Nature
214 HP 16 ATT 180 DEF 100 SPEED
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
Anyways Classic Bulkydos, this makes a great lead. and in all versions i find that the BT loves to hax you with Double Team, Taunt puts a stop to that and also prevents status conditions which really helps.
Garchomp@Expert Belt
Adamant Nature
252 ATT 252 SPEED 6 HP
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance
- Fire Fang
not much needs saying here really, helps Gyarados with its weakness to electricity, fast and great for finishing stuff off.
now for the last pokemon, i use a Specs mence, but by all means use a Specs/Scarf'd Porygon-z or Starmie like you are currently doing, those items really help if you tend to switch alot like me.
Anyways ill still give the moveset for it.
Salamence@Choice Specs
Modest Nature
252 SP.ATT 252 SPEED 6 HP
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump
Two dragon moves, one for inflicting major damage and will almost always OHKO it if it doesnt resist it on almost all the stuff you will see in the battle tower. Dragon Pulse is for finishing stuff off, Hydro Pump and Fire Blast are just for coverage. Also note that this set covers every type in the game for at least neutral damage.
Im not saying you should use these, but im more like trying to give you some ideas to use.The basic line up for the battle tower is Bulky Pokemon, Physical Sweeper, Special sweeper.

Re: Battle Tower help, hopefully the last time I'll ask...
Leftovers is definitely better than shell bell, in my experience. With Shell bell, I always seem to get much less regeneration than with good ol' lefties. Especially if I have Protect in my moveset lol.
Try a Lucario?? It's resistant to all those types except fire, and most of them doubly so, as well as having a good Sp moveset.
Otherwise how about Metagross? 'Tis a beast.
