Default How to beat the Elite Four

It seems that every week, there is a new person asking how to beat the elite four. So, to prevent veterans having to constantly post the same thing over and over again, I thought I would start a thread that explained how to do it first time for all the people that are struggling out there.

Raise all of your pokemon to around level 60. Vary the types of your pokemon so that your team doesn't have too many weaknessess, a good mix IMO is Fire, water/ice, dragon, ground, electric and psychic. Take in lots of revives, max potions, full heals and full restores.

If you are still having trouble beating the league, then train em some more, maybe post your team here and someone'll help you with their moves

The following is by Beech Daly -

It has been noted that I have been answering a lot of questions about the Elite Four on this forum, mainly on if their team is good enough or when they have problems with them. When you first play them, it seems hard, and even after then, the second time isn't a joke. So now I think having the lineup of them will give you an adventage on what to await for when you face the Pokemon League, on both the first and second times.

Beech Daly's Pokemon
70 Marowak
59 Blastoise
77 Electabuzz
61 Moltres
74 Fearow
60 Persian
(This was my Pokemon when I first defeated the League)

There are 26 total Pokemon, 5 each for the Elite Four, and six for the Champion Rival match. Here is the Lineup for Round One, and the attack types to use for great damage.

1-1 --- Lorelei
- 52 Dewgong (Electric would work on it.)
- 52 Slowbro (Electric or Dark.)
- 51 Cloyster (Definitely Electric!)
- 54 Jynx (Electric or Dark.)
- 54 Lapras (Just Electric!)

1-2 --- Bruno
- 51 Onix (Water)
- 54 Onix (Water)
- 53 Hitmonchan (Psychic or Flying)
- 53 Hitmonlee (Psychic or Flying)
- 56 Machamp (Psychic or Flying)

1-3 --- Agatha
- 54 Gengar (Ghost or Psychic)
- 54 Haunter (Ghost or Psychic)
- 54 Golbat (Psychic, Ice, or Flying)
- 56 Arbok (Psychic or Ground)
- 58 Gengar (Ghost or Psychic)
(NOTE: Night Shade is a Ghost attack, but it does not do any super effective damage as say ... Shadow Ball).

1-4 --- Lance
- 56 Gyarados (Electric [4X]
- 58 Aerodactyl (Electric or Ice [4X])
- 54 Dragonair (Dragon or Ice)
- 60 Dragonite (Dragon or Ice [4X]).
- 54 Dragonair (Dragon or Ice)

1-5a -- Rival, Bulbasaur Division
- 59 Pidgeot (Electric or Ice)
- 59 Rhydon (Water or Ice)
- 57 Alakazam (Ghost or Dark)
- 61 Gyarados (Electric [4X])
- 59 Exeggutor (Fire, Ice, Flying, or Poison)
- 63 Charizard (Water or Rock [4X])

1-5b -- Rival, Charmander Division
- 59 Pidgeot (Electric or Ice)
- 59 Rhydon (Water or Ice)
- 57 Alakazam (Ghost or Dark)
- 59 Exeggutor (Fire, Ice, Flying, or Poison)
- 61 Arcanine (Water or Rock)
- 63 Blastoise (Electric or Grass)

1-5c -- Rival, Squirtle Division
- 59 Pidgeot (Electric or Ice)
- 59 Rhydon (Water or Ice)
- 57 Alakazam (Ghost or Dark)
- 59 Gyarados (Electric [4X])
- 61 Arcanine (Water or Rock)
- 63 Venusaur (Fire, Ice, Flying, Poison, or Psychic)

Okay, so you beat it the first time. You been through the Islands, and even caught some Legendaries. However, the second time around, you seem to be in a steep hole. Time for Beech Daly to break out the Pokemon League Round Two Lineup. Same Elite Four members. Still 26 Pokemon. Except at least 10 levels higher.

Beech Daly's Pokemon - Round 2
91 Magcargo
88 Murkrow
95 Xatu
83 Dragonite
94 Electrode
98 Togetic

(w/Mewtwo)
81 Mewtwo
88 Kangaskhan
89 Togetic
86 Dragonite
83 Hitmonchan
80 Golem

2-1 --- Lorelei
- 64 Dewgong (Electric [4X].)
- 63 Piloswine (Fire)
- 63 Cloyster (Electric [4X].)
- 66 Jynx (Electric or Dark.)
- 66 Lapras (Electric, [4X].)

- 65 Steelix (Fire)

- 66 Kingdra (Dragon)

2-5a -- Rival, Bulbasaur Division
- 72 Heracross (Flying [4X], Psychic, or Fire)
- 72 Tyranitar (Water, Grass, Ground, Fighting [4X], Bug, or Steel)
- 73 Gyarados (Electric [4X] or Rock)
- 73 Alakazam (Ghost or Dark)
- 73 Exeggutor (Fire, Ice, Flying, or Poison)
- 75 Charizard (Water or Rock [4X])

2-5b -- Rival, Charmander Division
- 72 Heracross (Flying [4X], Psychic, or Fire)
- 72 Tyranitar (Water, Grass, Ground, Fighting [4X], Bug, or Steel)
- 73 Exeggutor (Fire, Ice, Flying, or Poison)
- 73 Alakazam (Ghost or Dark)
- 73 Arcanine (Water or Rock)
- 75 Blastoise (Electric or Grass)

2-5c -- Rival, Squirtle Division

Raise all your pokemon to lv 100 which are the types neptune's disciple said then get as many as you can get of hyper potions, full heals, full restores, max potions, max, revives, and maybe revival herbs. That will make the elite 4 easy the first time you face them.
That was how I defeated them in pokemon ruby & sapphire.

Thats pretty much what I said, apart from the level 100 thing, which most ppl dont have enough time for, and anyway, its only for the elite 4, not like you're battling some person outside the game where you have to worry about EV's and stuff. And also, try to only have 1 type of move on each pokemon, for example, Charizards moveset should NOT look like this:

- Ember
- Flamethrower
- Blast burn
- Fire blast

There should be different kinds of moves on each pokemon, and each pokemon should have a different role, though this doesnt matter as much for the elite four.

I would say Zapdos because it's Flying/Electric and not all of it's attacks are one type.

I would suggest evolving Pikachu and giving it
- Thunderbolt
- Thunderwave
- Attract
- Focus Punch

Well I like it anyway, its the set I use and it works very well, just make sure you're raichu is a female, if not, replace attract with toxic maybe, and Focus punch with Brick Break. Use thunderwave and attract first, to stop it from touching you, then either focus punch it or t-bolt it as you see fit!

O.K, here's a hint...
1st person: Thunder for all exept Jynx: then use fire. KABOOOM! Bye bye Lorielle!
2nd person: Use water type for Onixes and a psycic or flying type move(I recomend drill peck) for the rest. KABOOOM! So long, Bruno!
3rd person: Psycic from a strong psycic pokemon for all of them or earthquake = dead Agatha.
4th preson: Aerodactyle's the hardest. Try a psycic from Mewtwo if you can get one from a friend... Ice for Dragonite, Thunder for Gyrados, strong attack for Dragonairs and I think that should be Lance dealt with.
Rival: Executor: Fire/ice. But be quick!
Blastoise: Thunder Charizard: Thunder/water, Venosaur: Fire/ice
Arcanine: Water
What else does he have?

What? Beating Elite 4? What a joke, just bring your starter at Level 100 with 99 Revive+Max Revives+Full Restore and you'll be pretty much a winner.
