Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Well, if anyone cares, here's my speculation:
It's head has sort of an Egyptian look to it from this angle, so it's probably going to be some ancient Pokemon awakened or s/t. I would definitely agree that this is NO fusion. If anything, it is an evolution of Mew into a new level. I doubt that Blaziken has any relation to it whatsoever. It probably also has nothing to do with the Fire Pokemon type, my guess is it's just all Psychic (because Gamefreak goes crazy with legendaries and Psychics).

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
And, most importantly, legendary psychics.
That's a good point about the egyptian look, I'd realised that but forgot to mention it. Since the old ancient mew TCG card had egyptian-like characters for the text, perhaps this could be some kind of a clue to suggest a link to mew?

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Pokemon Trading Cards generally have no relevance/link to the Pokemon Games(Not the Pokemon Trading Card Games on the GBC, dum dums).

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
I think that Rukario is either Psychic or Water.

Nintendo and Game Freak have no control on making new Pokemon. that's all for the Japanese Pokemon companies to decide. Nintendo and Game Freak just translate and sell for Americans.
egyptians... hmmm.

Actually Jack, it is Game Freak that have total control over the Pokemon; Ken Sugimori, who works for Game Freak, is one of the main people in charge of Pokemon development, if I remember correctly (He designed all of the first 151 Pokemon, and most likely every Pokemon since).
Anyway, let's look at the setting of the Movie (Some Pokemon have been created specifically for movie purposes, after all): there is an old ancient castle, the three Regis which happen to be ancient Pokemon are making an appearance, and Mew is an ancient Pokemon, said to be the first Pokemon of all. The movie is definately going for an "ancient" theme, so an Egyptian-style Legendary in an ancient-style movie would actually make sense.

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Maybe this rukario helped defeat the regis in ancient times ???
I also think it looks a little bit ancient, like anubis.

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Don't double post...
Maybe you're right about defeating the Regis though, maybe Rukario helped seal them away as they are in the games?

Actually the ancient Mew card was part of (more like jest in) the 2nd movie. Thats where they got the card idea in the first place, and so thats why in both Japan and America you got a chance of getting the card when you saw the movie (I did).
And seens how ppl's mouses seem to all be broken (ERRRR!) I'll paste the last part of my other post here then!:
"Edit: I jest had a eureka moment! Look at the 1st movie poster...... Whats that Mew's holding?!?!
Edit (again): I jest translated the web site and so weird, Rukario, translated to Luke Rio?! Jest copy the link: http://www.pokemon2005.jp/movie/index.html and paste it in the bottum box here: http://world.altavista.com/tr. It also says the movie name is "?ƒ…? (that it couldn't translate but its Mew) and wave derived hero Luke Rio"."

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Ok, it looks like Anubis, its an ancient pokemon, and it could have possibly helped the ancient people lock the regi's away, has anyone concidered that this pokemon was worshipped by the egyptians as anubis in the pokemon world. Rukario could have been like, sworn to keep the regi's sealed and its been sleeping for a bloody long time, as all ledgendaries have been, and now that the regi's are out again and cousing havock (going by the poster in coro coro), Rukario is awakened again to seal them away and ash will somehow stumble in on the problem and yeh, you know the drill.

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Hm, it does look rather Egyptian. Seems fitting too. I think I'll do some research on Ancient Egypt and see if that hurts or helps Rukario's chance of being Egyptian. O.o;

Re: New Pokemon: Rukario!
Rukario:
and
Anubis
If Rukario, helps Mew defeat the Regis. The three Regis are weak against Fighting type, it's possible that Rukario is a fighting pkm or part fighting pkm. And Anubis looks like a mix between Houndoom and Machamp, would be cool if Rukario was a dark/fighting pkm.
Here's the story of Anubis:
