Default Pokemon Strategy Terminology?

Is there a thread here that explains certain terms when it comes to Pokemon Team Strategy, such as "lefty" and "bulky water"?

That would be a good idea. I'm pretty sure 'leftys' means leftovers, but Bulky Water? Maybe a water type poke with lots of hp? Can you tell I really haven't a clue?

I've never heard of lefties.

"Bulky Water" refers to a water type used for tanking. Water type tend to be really big and heavy (think Blastoise) so water types are often used for tanking purposes. Thus, the phrase "Bulky Water."

Ahhh, thanks! ^_^

Also, thank you for adding the Terminology page; it really helped me with my vocabulary.

Query, is Milotic considered a bulky water?

It could, because of it's high Special Defense. I'm not sure.

Edit: Oops. You're welcome. Didn't see that thank you.

Bulky Water: A water pokemon traditionally used to absorb physical hits. An example of a bulky water could be Swampert or Milotic. Bulky waters are generally employed to prevent physical sweepers, usually Dragon Dancers and some of the less brutal Choice Banders although the more vicious ones (like Heracross and Garchomp) tend to tear through them. In ADV they were on most teams to protect against a few otherwise destructive pokemon. Namely Salamence, Tyranitar and Metagross. Something of note on Bulky Waters is that who they counter is actually fairly small and limited. Outside of pokemon they damage with SE moves or stall out with resistances (etc), they actually outright counter very few pokemon. However, they do tend to fill in holes in teams fairly well (from a physical defense perspective).

Lefties: Leftovers.
