Countering the Legendaries in D/P

I'm not a netbattler, but I'm trying to prepare myself for wifi and possibly tournaments. And of course, when playing with the public you'll encounter many, many legendary pokemon.

Trying to keep away from legendaries myself, anyone got any ideas on countering them?

I was theorycrafting with garchomp as a counter to both dialga and palkia with something like this:

Garchomp@[need something]
Ability: Sand Veil
EVs: 252 atk, 252 speed, 6 HP
Adamant Nature
-dragon claw
-earthquake
-swords dance
-substitute

With 1 swords dance, it should OHKO dialga/palkia. But, if it somehow doesnt, a 4x ice weakness would send garchomp freezing in the grave. So I was thinking of getting a baton passer to pass swords dance onto garchomp. I was thinking scizor with SD or Umbreon with mean look + screech.

Any ideas? I'm thinking that we'll see a lot of the other legendaries as well. Oh btw, the last pokemon game I played was Blue, and that wasnt even competitively. So be easy on me

hmm really? That's a relief. I dont have diamond yet so I'm not sure how wifi works. In the 10th anniversary tournament in Australia, almost everyone used mewtwo, groudon, kyogre etc. There weren't any rules against using those pokemon :|

Here's to hope that there will be rules that promote pokemon diversity :]
