Default Arcanine

Can Arcanine form a decent lead?

Arcanine @ Shellbell (Life orb ???) (Flame Orb???)
Trait: Intimidate
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-SAtk)
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/ 6 HP
~ Thunderfang
~ Flare Drive
~ Extremespeed
~ Rock Slide/Crunch

Thunderfang for Bulky waters, save Swampert. Flare Drive for STAB and good hit and counter Sceptile. Extremespeed, for Bpers & Endure/Reversals. Rock Slide for flying Zapdos, Ninjask (Salamence?)/Crunch for Gengar & Alakazam, and Azelf, if anyone uses it.
(Would this work?)
OR

Arcanine @ Shellbell (Flame/Toxic Orb???) (Adherence Glasses???)
Trait: Intimidate
Nature: Modest (+SAtk/-Atk)
EVs: 252 SAtk/252 Spd/ 6 HP
~ Sunnyday
~ Solarbeam
~ Overheat
~ HP Ice

Sunny day set up for bulky waters. HP Ice for Dragons. Overheat for STAB
(This wouldn't work as a starter but just a guess/try.)

for starters, Arcanine doesn't learn Rock slide

Howl/Flare drive/Thunderfang/Extremespeed is decent, specially if you have spikes or any other way to weaken waters. Pity Swampert will walk all over you

Will-o-wisp is also a cool option, as is Dragon pulse if you're using HP grass for Swampert. But in general, i'd have to say Arcanine is inferior to most other fires, and being weak to Stealth rock doesn't help either

Awww, well I am looking for a competitive starter that isn't Overused (not the tier, just plain not overused) and I understand Intimidate is one hte best ones to start wait, any other traits that I can look at for starter pokemon?
Also any suggestions on which starter pokemon?

A good starter Pokemon would be something that can possibly lay out Stealth Rock/Spikes, CB effectively or Baton Pass something. Sandstreamers /T-tar and Hippowdon) also work fine.

Your Ninetails/Arcanine threads could've just been posted in the moveset discussion as it's useless to make threads for separate movesets when there's an indicated thread for that.

He probably would've been more inclined to do so, if people would actually respond more often than threads seeking attention.

My two favourite starters to use are Ninjask and Skarm (I think that Ninjask counts as BL so maybe try that).

Skarm is a horrible starter, you just let the opponent know who's your physical wall before turn #1

And after 1 turn I know they're Special Sweeper, helps if you also have Bliss/Lax on the team.

^makes no sense

If i see skarm before making a move, i already know i have to use Fire blast/Focus punch with my CB'er, when to send in Magneton/Rapid spiner, etc. Plus, every common lead beats Skarmory
