Which Pearl/Diamond Starter is the Best

The new Pokemon games are coming out in a few weeks and I don't know which starter to choose. I was wondering which starter you think is better and why?

Secondly, it all depends on what type of team you're aiming for, during your in-game journey to beat the Elite Four.

However, if you're aiming to use this very same starter in either WiFi or Pokemon Competitor, then, again, it depends on what type of team you are looking for.
