Lightbulb Is Togepi a baby Pokemon?

my one friend says it is, but i say it isn't. i can see the argument both ways, it has a move set treated like most baby pokemon's moversets and evolves with friendship, like most baby pokemon. however, i say it isn't because it is not a new "deevolution" of a prior pokemon (from the original 150 in this case), much like Magby or Elekid. Unfourtuanly, it is unable to be caught in the wild (nor Togetic, which would make this possibly very obvious). Therefore, i am confused, is Togepi a baby pokemon, or just a normal pokemon that evolves with friendship (like golbat to crobat)

Togepi is classified as a baby Pokemon by many sources, including Nintendo (I think), so I'll just say that it's a baby. ;/

I understand your arguement. You get Togepi in the beggining of the G/S/C games, and Togetic is'nt found in the wild. So it would actually make more sense if it was'nt a baby. But it's always been officially classified as a baby mon.

even if it is classified as a baby pokemon, it still doen't make logical sense to me. The only reason I currently would see to call it one is simply because it is officially classified as one and its moveset is like one. Other than that, it still seems to me that it is lacking many other qualities to make it an actual baby pokemon, asit would seem to the average player (or one who has thought about this and been annoyed by such for a few weeks now...not much else to do...). darn, why can;t things be logical? Oh well, I guess this'll go in with my other inexplicable Pokemon questions including, Why are there building you can't enter? Why are there so many dead trees and why can't I just torch them? and Why did my (older) sibling delete my game after I just caught my Blue Snubull? Why?

Togepi even showed up in the anime BEFORE the Johto region...

It's so weird. I know it's been classified as a baby but it doesn't make sense. Perhaps it's just an exception.

Togepi is a baby pokemon. It is classified by Nintendo as a baby pokemon so there should be no doubt about it.

But their in lies(pretty sure this is the wrong one) the problem. The card game says it`s a basic, not baby. If it was a baby I could use both Togetics I have in the TCG, but I can't because I only have one Togepi. But also the Hitmon family doesn't appear in the wild, yet Tyroge is a baby pokemon. I guess the only way to solve it is to call it a basic baby pokemon...

It doesn't matter if you can bread the pokemon. You can bread two Pichu's and make a baby Pichu and Pichu is still a baby pokemon.
