Default Moveset for Sceptile

I don't know what kind of moves and items I should make him learn.

I dont know much about sceptile but you could try this ( this is a physical based set, so probably not the best)

Swords Dance
Leech Seed
Crush Claw/Brick Break/ EQ/ AA/any other physical move sceptile can learn
Crush Claw/Brick Break/ EQ/ AA/any other physical move sceptile can learn

Again, not the best, but Im just trying to stay off the standerd.
So you just leech seed, then Swords Dance while you heal, and then you attack. Probably better than novelty at best, but its not standerd which anyone can look up at smogon.com. ( you might want to try smogon too. Its pretty good)

That's the direct standard...?

Anyway, you could try this;
Sceptile @ Leftovers
Timid Nature
EVs: 252Sp.Atk / 252Spd / 6Atk.
~Leech Seed
~Earthquake
~Dragon Claw
~Leaf Blade

Earthquake to remove pesky Poison types. But don't harp too much on it. Seed the opponent, then use the appropriate sweeping move.

I suggest Leaf Blade in its move set because there's also good chances of getting crit, as I heard. Keep Pound or Slam, or some move that isn't grass since there's also chances you might fight something resistant to grass-type attacks.

That's all I can really suggest, I like the idea of the Earthquake or Thunder Punch tm being added to sceptile, so those might be useful as well.

-Slam
-Leaf Blade
-Earthquake
-Thunder Punch

I personally don't perfer the non-offensive moves, but if you can think of any replacements, go ahead. XD. I'm getting ideas from this thread myself for when I get Emerald.

go with lugialords set, but you can do focus punch>Tpunch if you wish snice you might be behind a sub. also seeders get more HP back each turn if they have less HP Evs, the only exception being rain dish ludicolo with leech seed

Leaf Blade
Crunch
Thunderpunch
Draogn Claw

If you don't like all out attacks, this moveset isn't for you. I, personally, LOVE all out attacks! I find every move that is NOT an attack to be for people who suck at battling, but those n00bs still win even though their Pokemon have crappy movesets.

Actually, going with all damaging attacks and little to no strategy is pretty much useless unless you're using a CB, you'll need some real strategy. Non damaging moves can be more useful than damaging ones at some times

As for the moveset, Lugialord's fine, Endeavor can work over leech seed, but Endeavor doesnt hit ghosts ingame, though it does in NB

ok, no. 2 damaging moves of the same type is dumb, and cut is useless in battle. If you don't know what you're talking about, please refrain from rating

If that's a moveset you made when you didn't know anything, then why post it in the competitive board? Like i said, if you don't know what you're talking about, don't try to impart wisdom over here, kthnx

No. Solarbeam needs 2 turns just to use a 120 power attack. 2 Leaf blades are more powerful then 1 solarbeam.

argh ... no HM's except for surf.

Not Dragon Claw. Substitute is better.
