Pokemon.com Responds to Pokemon The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon!
-05/05/06-

From Pokemon.com:

Dear Pokemon fans,

Whew! The last couple of days have been exhausting for us -- we've been going through all of the emails concerning the television special we aired recently, The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon. The show was fantastic, with a mostly positive response. Many said the action was "awesome", that the plot and storyline were "outstanding", and that the overall look of the animation was "very, very cool." Once again, you've proven yourself to be the best fans in the world, and we always appreciate your comments!

We also heard you were concerned with the new voice actors, and many of you have voiced your concern (pun intended) through your e-mails and letters. Believe us - we are fans of the TV show, too, and we care just as much about something like voice changes as you do. We changed the voice actors for the main characters because we were told that the actors who used to provide voices to our characters had conflicting contractual commitments. So, we hope you will help us welcome the new voice actors into the Pokemon family - we think they're great, and they did a great job on The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon during the shortened transition period between production studios... Nothing else was changed, and it is still the same awesome show you're used to seeing every week, with great storylines straight from Japan, original music, and a well-thought out plot (which is the most important thing when producing a TV show)!

Pokemon has always been about fair play and teamwork, and we expect the same from our fans. In other words, if you have comments, complaints or praise, let us know directly at Feedback@pokemon.com. We always welcome constructive criticism!

We are, and always have been, dedicated to our fans and how passionately and strongly they believe in Pokemon. We promise to always take your concerns to heart as we continue to make the show your favorite every week. Watch this space in the upcoming days for even more exciting news about Pokemon, and don't forget to check out our Pokemon coverage from E3 next week!

Yours truly,

Lawrence Neves

Personally, I thought the special was fine, not horrible or great, just fine. A lot of people have expressed their opinions to me as well, and I can say the same, it's a mostly positive response, but obviously there are still plenty that are frustrated with the voice changes. But if you take away the voice changing fact, most people liked how the special looked.

I never cared much for anime, Pokemn is not an exception. In general, season one was okay, but when Ash became so friggin' good it got annoying.

lol he became "good" as in literally fluking out every single matchup, and using simple type-matching strategies. Not to mention he's got access to "god mode", "top player glitch", and "release that pokemon glitch".

I have to admit that I doubt voice acting changes would affect the series much anyway. The old voice actors were nothing special to begin with.

I'd expect they would have got a whole lot more negative feedback than positive...

Finally, there's something to dispute all the nonsense that's going around the community. Maddie, Rachel and other voice actors have been criticising PUSA and causing fans to believe that PUSA never tried to contact them, and from this statement, it's obvious to see they were told by someone that the voice actors could not be used (As 4Kids sent out the actors they did use, it's simple to assume 4Kids was the one behind it).

It seems like the old VAs just don't know as much as they let on. I doubt PUSA would make an announcement mentioning this if it were a lie, as such lies can be refuted.

Hopefully now people will quit assuming PUSA found new VAs in order to make more money.

Sarah, it seems there are a lot more people who are accepting - or even just openly admitting their like for - the new dub, which at first was indeed responded to by a unanimous dislike. I'd expect there aren't as many people who dislike it as it might seem.

I was too shocked by the voices to even notice the movie plot, story, or even the pictures. Then I prayed for a regular Pokemon commercial to hear the regular voices again. The acting sucked bad...bad....BAD!!!

What are those AIDS-orphans in Africa naggin about? They don't have to deal with changing voice actors in a pokemon cartoon!!

In other words: stop. complaining. about. something. as. dumb. as. voices.
