Re: TMI: Art Department
One big round wouldn't make sence at all. It's to see how well you are as a Spriter. More rounds will give people a better chance to show what they can do.

Re: TMI: Art Department
Ok here's the deal. I'm putting Shane in charge of the Spriting Contest. She'll choose the judges and all ideas about the contest will go through her. I think Surly Professor is also more than qaulified to be second in charge. I'll talk to Ryan about putting a Pixel Art Board, but all contests would just go in the PE2K Art Events Board. For now, you can put the contest in the Graphics Board. Gather as many ideas as you can, and if the contest is a success, we'll keep it open. If not, then we'll have to gather some more ideas on it in order to re-open it.
Since I know almost nothing about spriting, I'll probably won't have much to do with how the contest goes. =P

Good idea Nefarious. I'm glad all contests have to go through someone first so we don't have every Tom, Dick, & Sally creating one at the drop of a hat.

Look, I'm not gonna argue about it. And, I'm not saying that we shouldn't have those big drawn-out contests; because actually we should have both types. I'm just sayin' I'm personally not that interested in entering a big long contest that's gonna take forever and make me do stuff I'm not into. When we could have little single match contests more frequently. We could have a trainer contest, a splice contest, a scratch contest, and so on; not all at the same time mind you, but... yeah.
Since there's going to be a whole board for it we can have something for everyone. kk

I guess you're the "Shane" Nef was talkin' about?
I'ld like to discuss the judging a little if we could.
The categories set forth so far are "Color", "Originality", & "Over All".
So we'll be judging these categories like:
"Color" which covers the colors chosen (if they "hurt your eyes") & the shading.
"Over All" ...In the case of fusions how cohesive the constituate parts are (how well it's put together) & how difficult we think it was to fuse the monsters.
And... in the case of scratch: line art (we have to judge it in one category or the other), construction (pose, anatomy, & proportion), & difficulty.
"Originality" How inventive and interesting the sprite is as a whole.
Just wanna get all of this straight before hand, ya know.
Your thoughts on this would be most appreciated.

Re: TMI: Art Department
I talked to Ryan and he said that the Boards will be arranged soon. But I don't think the Pixel Board is going to happen. And the PE2K Art Events Board may not be up anytime soon. He said that it may go up once we get mroe activity. So when the Spriting contest goes up, it'll stay in the Graphics board. Hopefully we can get the Events Board up soon though, so we can have all the contests in one board.

OK thanks, I just wanted to be sure about that stuff.
I don't know anyone's RL name, I just look as folk's posts not thier mail or diaries.
I'll be judging the way I layed it out above then.
One more question about judging: we'll be giving a 1-10 in each category, or as whole?
Also, may I make a quick suggestion?

Let's ditch the "Name:" thing it's clear for all to see who posted what, and I already see people posting their RL names and that's just going to muddle things; at least for me. If we must ask for a name let's ask specifically for their Username.

We're keeping the name thing. The contest is fine how it is.

Re: TMI: Art Department
Well, that was rather terse. :(
You didn't even answer my question.

Re: TMI: Art Department
I realize we already got a "no", but I'ld like to see the sprite forum idea floated again.
Anybody else notice the explosion in the sprite populate over the last week or so?
It's crazy.

Yeah I totally want a sprite forum too. And I asked Ryan, but he didn't say yes or no, but he said he had a lot to consider before he did anything with the art boards. So we may very well still get that sprite board.

Re: TMI: Art Department
I feel bad for not posting in this at all...I apologize.
I'm waiting for my family to get a scanner so I can finally enter the monthly art contests. Otherwise, I am not sure how I can help with the Art forums yet.
So, is there anything I could do now that would be of some help?

I'm all for the Sprite forum. It's getting way too crowded in there. Are we working on anything right now? Like, what are we here for unless we do something. Are we waiting on Ryan to fix the boards, and that's all? Need an update here.
