Default General Spriter's Showcase! **PLEASE post! Critique others' work and post your own!**

GENERAL SPRITER'S SHOWCASE

The old thread can be found here.

----------

Welcome all!

And congratulations for finding your way to the spriting showcase thread, where anyone can display their own Sprites, Scratches, Trainer Cards, and many more!

The reason behind this thread is so that this board isn't cluttered with hundreds of sprite threads that end of dying after a week. It would be appreciated if you would display your sprites here.

Happy spriting!

Rules

- 1.) All general forum rules apply.
- 2.) Please DO NOT POST sprite sheets or more than 4 sprites in a single post. If you have a lot to show, you can either post them four at a time (as in, when you can post next - no double posting - you can post another four for C&C) or alternatively, make a gallery with those sprites. However, it is recommended that you post sprites you want C&C for in the GSS first, but it is not required. If you have to, ask a friend to comment on them so you can post another four after they post.
- 3.) Do not ask for requests here. Requests for sprites belong here or in other members' sprite shops.
- 4.) Please use this recommendation when you post:
[*] If you plan to post a sprite (or sprites) of your own, you must comment on another person's sprite in the same post. This way, everyone will get their sprite commented on and it means you give something so that someone can give it back to you. You can comment on however many sprites you like, but if you only aim to comment on one, comment on the sprite posted before yours so that we can ensure the person before you can get their sprite rated.

If the person above you posted a sprite but didn't comment on another person's work, feel free to ignore them and you may instead comment on the sprite before that person, and then post your sprite.[/LIST]
So, by following these rules (especially the posting one) we can harbour a better showcase for our spriters, and we can all have our sprites graded. If you do not know how to comment and criticise people's sprites to help them become better spriters, just take a look at how some other members do it, and take a leaf out of their books.

HAVE FUN! 8D

Aaanyhow, this was a Spinarak sprite I did in the style of Pokémon Pinball R/S. Done for a roleplay site. :3

The Pokemaster:Those are pretty good, but the 1st sprite needs some major work on the flames.

Giratina:That's cool! But the legs make it look like jelly.

-the pokeball to be completely honest needs work, the major thing about making the pokeballs is your limited space. also the horn isnt in a good place, the front of the pokeball is facing you, and the horn is facing away, things like that u may need to scratch, also the flame is way to big for the ball

-the magikarp egg looks very good :D, the only thing I see that is wrong with it is that the outline of the egg wasn't colored magikarps outline color

-Just keep it up, practice makes as close to humanly perfect as you can get

-i do like this one, you did a very good job at fitting the frames together, but like niko said the legs need a little work, dont get me wrong its better than i could do but maybe put some joints in the legs. Very good though

Great but the outline of the horn looks a bit jagged and the egg's outline doesn't look recoloured.Good choice of parts for the both of them though.

Yay! New thread! The old one got to clustered with...er...well anyway, me and Retro are sorry about that XD

Anyway, It looks great. Like Blood said, you need to recolor the lighter outlines with Magicarp's outline color and the darker outlines with the black used on the Pokemon sprite.

Last post on the old thread and first post here? OMG that's freaky...

The way the Pokémon Pinball sprites are laid out, there can only be three separate frames; two "idle" shots and a "reaction" shot. Considering Spinarak is climbing down a thread, the legs may look a bit jelly-like... |D

I think I've said this in the last thread (not to you, but to someone else) but those aren't Pillow shades. They're self colour infernos. If you go to the Gotta Sprite 'Em All thread check Azumao's pillow shade tut, you'll notice that pillow shades and SCI's look very different.

But otherwise, they look very nicely done.

Everything's pretty much perfect for the first time. I like it a lot! :3

The only things that seem to bother me are the eye, as you pointed out and things that I marked down here:

A: It's a bit too straight here, but sometimes you're forced to do that. :/

B: The mouth just seems odd.

C: There's an unneeded lump there. O:

That IS pillow shading...and pillow shading IS inferno "shading"...it's named after its pillow-like result, doesn't matter if it's pixel-by-pixel or freehanded.

I just really felt the need to point that out, because that post made me...cringe...a bit, but no offense. 8<

Pillow shading, as I have always known it, is when the actual SHADING is soft like a pillow, not when the lines get gradually lighter. I don't know who started calling it pillow shading, but they obviously don't know what shading actually is.

In other news, that is one awesome Vileplume.

The Spinarak is so cute. <3 But the lines are a bit jagged, and the frame transitions are also really.. erm, straight. xD So, yeah! Just smooth out some of the lines.

I need some CnC on these old things, plox. :3
