Since I was watching the trailer live and as soon as I saw Fennekin I picked it, I think that everyone is copying me by wanting one. xD

I highly doubt that. Fennekin is adorable, no matter what your opinion is.

It does somewhat depend on their evolutionary lines though.

Most definitely going with that Chespin. I can't make myself take fire starters first play through anymore, I used to take Charizard all day everyday when I was a kid. xD

I'll probably end up getting all three as usual anyway but my main one/my starter, depending on evolutions, types, etc, will probably be Chespin this time round, though I might end up using Fennekin a lot too.

Time will tell I guess, though I get the feeling that at least one of these starter evolution lines will come as a shock to us.

I always pick via final evolution because I know that that is the Pokemon that I will be using for the largest percentage of play time. Based on the lowest evolutions I actually think that Chespin is the cutest:

Now having evolutions on the table. These are my favorite fake evolutions:

I think if those were exactly what they ended up looking like I would have to chose Fennekin.

But a further point that I think should be made is the other half of picking a starter for me is the availability of in game catchable fire, grass, and water Pokemon. If there is a lack of good representation of any of those types and I'm more likely to pick the corresponding starter, assuming it's final evolution isn't ugly as all get out.

I'm going Chespin!

There seems to be an African theme going on with the starters this generation.
We have the Fennikin the Fennec fox, native the the northern sahara desert. I personally think Chespin is going to turn out to be a Porcupine; It has the rodent tooth and the spines on it's head. Porcupine are totally fearless so that's awesome. Then we have Froakie, there are lots of frogs in africa, i'm sure it's based on one of them.

I personally think the starters look pretty good so I'm looking forward to finding out what they evolve into in April some time when the English game is released =)

Fennekin because it may be the most elegant pokemon I have seen in a while. However, all of that could change depending on the three starter's evolutions.

I'm astounded no one sees any resemblance of Zorua through Fennekin.. I mean... they look almost exactly alike, ESSPECIALLY the tail.

I don't see any resemblance to any Pokemon from any game ever. xD All Pokemon are original in my mind. They do share biological features though, they are based on a fix. It's only natrual you'll see resemblance.

Some people ACTUALLY SAY stuff like, "OMG PIKACHU HAS A TAIL. LIKE, 300 OTHER POKEMON HAVE TAILS TOO SO UNORIGINAL."

I agree with TE. They are similar in the fact that they are both foxes, but besides that that aren't horribly similar. It is a pretty obvious that foxes are way more popular than most other Pokemon. So it makes sense for them to make a lot of versions.

Fennekin vs Zorua.
The tails are different shapes and Zorua's is mono-colored.
Fennekin doesn't have a mane.
Ears are completely different shapes.
Legs are completely different shapes.

I hate redundancy as much as the next person, and I'll be as peeved as everyone if Fennekin turns into a Fire/Fighting, but one thing I've been pretty satisfied with the diversity in the starters. They fit a general mold for starters but all the types have a pretty good mix of shapes, sizes, furs, and scales, etc.

But that's just my take on the situation. I'm holding on getting upset for when they really mess things the hell up.

I have had my eyes fixated on Chespin. I always decide my starter based on first appearances, because that is usually the state I leave them in (Bulbasaur and Torchic were the only exceptions.)

As of right now, I have high hopes that Chespin will evolve into something cool. Froakie might be my next option. However, Fennekin looks the coolest right now.

Meanwhile, I don't think Chespin really has anything going for him, mm-hmm. :/ I would play X with Fennekin and Y with Froakie. Imma play both, mhm

I want to take Fennekin when I get the game, because Fennekin is so cute and looks like Eevee :)
