Default Journey from the Valley [RP]

Journey from the Valley

Plot:

Wild pokémon have lived peacefully in a large area consisting of forest, plains, rivers, and lakes. All types of pokémon live here, but in spite of there being various types, there is not a large number of these pokémon living here. Why? It lies in a hidden valley, where for some strange reason, only the pokémon born there know about it. These pokémon haven’t seen the world outside the valley. No outsider has ever stumbled upon it-until now.

It started when a lone growlithe stumbled upon it by pure luck, and that growlithe was soon driven out by one of the valley pokémon. The growlithe, a young pokémon named Firestorm, wanted revenge, and had seen what a marvelous place that valley was, and so he later evolved, and recruited other pokémon-tough pokémon used to living in harsh places, and told them of the amazing valley he’d been to and seen, and soon left to travel to the valley and take it over, to claim it for themselves...

Firestorm and his army have now taken over the valley, and driven out the peaceful valley pokémon, after killing and injuring many. Now the valley pokémon find themselves out of the safety of their home, in lands they have never seen before. Their only hope is to find a new home, and one day come up with a way to stop Firestorm’s army and reclaim their territory.

Some of the pokémon have now banded together and have crossed the wastelands to reach a swamp.

Old Roleplay Thread

Nightfang glanced nervously at her surroundings, still not at ease with the place she and the others had found themselves in. The swamp was so unlike her home in the valley and everything she had been used to growing up. It was foreign, and she wasn't sure she knew all the potential dangers. That unnerved her. The mightyena shook moisture from her fur as she glanced toward their small group. They were the only survivors from the Valley and Firestorm's attack on it to band together, as far as she knew. She wondered if there were any more of them out there. There had to be...this certainly couldn't be all of them. Yet memories of the arcanine's ruthless attack surged through her mind, and she felt doubt creeping in. Trying to put it aside, she told herself that it was irrational. Of course there were others. The wasteland was a big place; they could have very well gotten lost. Gotten lost, she thought, and then what? The wasteland had plenty of danger.

Near her was one of her friends from the Valley, one who had managed to escape. She had known Bladestrike while living in her old home, but she still hardly recognized him now. The confused look had not left the scyther's eyes, and even now, seemed a bit nervous around her and some of the others. This unnerved her too. Bladestrike shouldn't act this way. His injuries also prevented him from flying, which was something that could have easily been used to their advantage.

Peering ahead, she could see that the swamp went on for quite a while. It was exhausting traveling through the mud, but they couldn't stay here. Fresh water was still hard to come by, and there was little food for them. Nightfang wasn't even sure where exactly they were going, in the long run, but she hoped they would find a place where they could rest and recover until they could decide for sure what to do. The wind ruffled her fur as she scanned the way ahead, trying not to let her worry and apprehension show.

Soon they would have to keep going.

Not far off, Sy was wandering around this seemingly endless swamp making sqwelchy noises as his feet hit the soft and moist ground. The expression on his face was down right miserable. And to think that not long ago he was sitting at his favorite Oasis drawing pictures in the water and just having a good time, but apparently that Arcanine thought it would be hilarious to storm in and cause a massacre. The Riolu let out a mournful sob as he remembered his parents and older brother who he saw get killed before his eyes, but no tears came out. He figured he already cried them all out.

sy rubbed his left shoulder which was struck by a Pin Missile in his escape. He did his best to ignore the pain up until now but it was starting to get unbearable. Sy glanced at the green scarf his brother gave him just before he died and sighed.

Feeling exhausted, Sy sat down by a dead tree shivered from the cold. It was official, he now hated swamps. He hated being alone, and he hated that Arcanine for putting him in this seemingly hopeless situation.

Gladewing (Scyther)
Currently: Hunting

Gladewing dug his scythes into the wood of a branch, hanging his head in defeat. Last night had not gone at all as he planned. The day before, he had encountered a group of refugees, many of whom were injured or starving. The young Scyther had been moved by compassion by them, and had been eager to assist them in any he could. He was given the challenge to find food for them, yet the swamp was a hard place to hunt in. Many of the prey here were difficult to find in the murk and mud, and half of them were poisonous—certainly not what the sick and wounded needed.

With the sun now rising, Gladewing’s chances of finding something were slimming. It was probably time to report back to the pack… But the Scyther did not want to return empty-handed. If he did so, surely his honor would be damaged. At the same time, he couldn’t just leave them…

The young Scyther let his eyes wander across the swamp; perched atop a low-lying branch of a swamp tree, he was safe and dry above the bothersome muck, with a fair view of what laid ahead. What he saw wasn’t promising. He couldn’t tell how far the swamp ran, nor could he guess how long it would take for the refugees to cross it. Still, he had sworn to assist them, and assist them he would.

His eye finally caught a flash of pink within the rotten green colors. Curious, Gladewing took to the air and flew over. His wings buzzed as he hovered over a familiar-looking plant loaded with pink and yellow berries. It looked promising, but in a swamp like this, he had to be careful; for all he knew, they could be poisonous. Yet after some inspection, he finally discerned what they were: Qualot berries.

“That’s right,” the young Scyther said to himself as he recalled a memory. “Galloran said that these berries could grow in even the wettest of places. What luck!”

Of course, he knew that these wouldn’t help the refugees as much as a fresh carcass would; but for now, it would have to do. The least they could do was sustain them until fresh prey could be captured. He imagined that the pack leader wouldn’t be too impressed with him, however… Deftly maneuvering his scythes, Gladewing sliced through the bush and harvested as much berries as he could; then, cradling them between his blades, the Scyther took off once again, heading back to camp.

Before he could reach them, however, a sound stopped him abruptly. The Scyther paused midair, tilting his head to listen more closely. It came again—a soft little thing, mournful and miserable. Something was sobbing. Following his senses, Gladewing came across a dead tree, where a mud-caked creature sat shivering beneath its leafless crown.

Pity immediately welled up in Gladewing as he looked upon the little creature. Speaking gently, he asked, “Pardon me, little one, but are you all right?”

Snowsong (Glaceon) // Embyr (Charmeleon)
Currently: Following Nightfang

Snowsong watched Nightfang closely as the Mightyena strayed a little ahead from the group. When she glanced back, the Glaceon quickly looked away, flicking her ears in annoyance. She hoped the “leader” knew what she was doing, leading this pathetic pack into a swamp. Though the wastelands had been terrible, the ice-type had to wonder if they were any better off here. She gazed at the muck dismally, loathe to muddying her pale fur. Perhaps she could freeze a path through the swamp—then again, that would require too much energy. Energy that she would need later on.

The muck troubled Snowsong for another reason. The Glaceon glanced back over her shoulder, where a wounded Charmeleon stared despondently into the ground. The reptile was in terrible shape, and Snowsong could only imagine what travelling through the muck would do to her. Her wounds could easily become infected in this environment—hers, and the others’. Wouldn’t it be better to move around the swamp, to avoid this?

Snowsong kept these thoughts to herself. Afterall, she wasn’t in charge here. The only reason she stuck around was to see the Charmeleon receive medical attention; this pack had some healers with them, and they had already helped the lizard some. Snowsong would stay until the Charmeleon showed signs of recovery—even if it meant putting up with… others.

Snorting haughtily to herself, Snowsong stood and shook herself, causing tiny ice crystals to fall the earth. Turning to the Charmeleon, she prodded it in the shoulder gently with her nuzzle.

“Come on,” she ordered. “On your feet; it is time to move on.”

The Charmeleon didn’t respond, as usual. Without giving Snowsong so much as a glance, the reptile rose to her feet.

Sy's ears perked up as he heard a voice behind him. He glanced around to see a Scyther. The Riolu immediately jumped up in fear and backed away slowly. He remembered that his father told him that Scyther can be quite vicious at times and it wasn't wise to make one angry, but when he realized that the Scyther was asking if he was okay he calmed down a bit thinking this pokemon may have good intentions. he looked down at his feet and rubbed his left arm shyly. He never did feel comfortable around strangers but he figured that he may as well get used to them. there would be many strangers now that he was away from what he used to call home.

"N...not r..really." he said in a barely audible voice. "I'm...l....lost....something bad...h...happened where I...came from."

Sy shuddered violently at the memory. it wasn't something he wanted to recall but knew the incident at the valley will live with him for the rest of his life. Sy sat down and hugged his legs. he had been running since he got out of the valley and was now too exhausted to care if he was gonna be eaten or not. A growling sound emitted from the young Riolu's stomach causing him to blush.

Gladewing (Scyther)
Currently: Interacting with Sy

As soon as Gladewing spoke, the creature scrambled backwards. Fear was plain in its eyes as it stared up at the young Scyther, which immediately saddened Gladewing. He had not meant to scare the little one--but who could blame it? This was unfriendly territory, and... Well, some Scythers were known to be a bit rough around strangers. Gladewing, however, was an honorable and mannerly Scyther.

The creature--which Gladewing now recognized as a Riolu--seemed to relax a bit after the Scyther made no threatening motions. He glanced down timidly at its feet and whispered in a quiet voice, "N...not r..really. I'm...l....lost....something bad...h...happened where I...came from."

Gladewing looked at the Riolu sympathetically. He could see know the tell-tale signs of a struggle for life and death on the pup's body. Though young, he seemed to have been through much. It suddenly came across the Scyther's mind that this poor Pokemon could possibly be yet another refugee from the legendary valley. Those that he had encountered the other day were in a similar state... Lost and wounded...

A low rumble suddenly broke Gladewing's train of thought. The Riolu blushed shyly, apparently embarrassed by his stomach's protest. How unthoughtful! Gladewing scolded himself, staring down at the berries in his scythes. This poor creature must be half-starved, and here I am standing with these in my grasp! Surely, the others wouldn't mind if Gladewing shared his bounty. The Riolu needed some food as much as they did.

Gladewing let a trio of berries fall from his arms, then carefully prodded them towards the Riolu. "Here," he kindly offered. "Have some of these. They're Qualot berries."

The Scyther smiled expectantly as he waited for the Riolu to eat.

"I am Gladewing, by the way," he introduced himself as he remembered his manners.

Sy saw the Scyther release three berries from his schythes and prod them towards him.

"Here, have some of these. They're Qualot berries."

Sy glanced at the berries, his stomach begging him to accept this Scyther's kind offer. Sy hesitantly picked one up and took a bite. There was a combination of sweetness and spiciness with a slightly sour aftertaste but the Riolu found it delicious, especially after going without food for a while. Sy looked up at the Scyther who had introduced himself as Gladwing.

"I'm Symon." he introduced back, in the same quiet voice. "But....I like Sy better."

Sy always preferred the shortened variation of his name. It's what his brother always called him. His parents always called him by his full name, but they were his parents so he let them. Sy took another bite from his berry trying not to remember the horrors he saw back in the valley. He then realized he forgot his manners and mentally kicked himself for it. He was usually good in that area.

"Th...thank you for the berries." he said shyly.

"Mum! Dad! No!" Cobalt yelled. Suddenly he woke up. It was almost dusk, judging by the angle of the sun, and Cobalt had been woken up by the nightmare he lived a few days ago. The day the Army came and destroyed his home, then proceeding to kill his parents. Cobalt couldn't help but replay those few minutes in his mind. He was a Kirlia back then. He could remember perfectly, his father urging him and his mother into a cave, then fighting off three other pokemon. When they killed his father, they entered the cave, and killed his mother, who died trying to protect Cobalt. The one thing Cobalt was unsure of, was what happened next. Cobalt felt something click in his mind, and before he realised what was going on, the three murderous pokemon clutched their heads in pain, and then were blown away by an accidental telekinetic blast by Cobalt.

Cobalt attempted to stand up, but tripped doing so. He still needed to get used to being so much bigger. Looking at his now black and dark purple skin, he wondered why and how he evolved. He could only evolve into a Gallade if a Dawn stone was present. But there was none there. And if it were battle experience that made him evolve, he would have become Gardevior.

The sun was starting to set faster, and light disappeared from the barren wasteland that surrounded his once beautiful home. He knew he had to get moving. Gallade were a rare bunch, and him being a different colour made him stand out. Travelling at night was his best option. He didn't know what he was hiding from, but he knew that this was an unfamiliar place, and that things could get alot more dangerous.

Cobalt continued travelling until well after midnight. He was about to take a rest, when he heard something. The snapping of a twig, probably fallen from one of the dead trees that were nearby.

"Twigs don't just snap by themself." Cobalt thought.
"I know you're there. Come out, and things won't get violent." Cobalt yelled out. A few seconds later, four legged creature walked out. Cobalt couldn't identify it in the shadows.

"I'm afraid things are going to get violent, whether I come out or not." said a raspy voice. Suddenly a purple light appeared above the creatures head, as it ran towards Cobalt. Cobalt saw it was an Absol, and jumped out of the way. Though he was a fighter as a Gallade, he had no experience with hand-to-hand combat, and Absol had the type advantage in this situation.

Cobalt closed his eyes, and attempted to use Psychic. He had done it plenty of times before as a Kirlia, and thought he could pull it off as a Gallade. He was wrong.
There was a deep 'boom' and Cobalt felt himself pushed into the air by the blast. He hit the ground with a thud, and lost consciousness when his head slammed against the hard ground.

"Sorry mate, but I have a pack to feed, and slave trading is one of the few good ways to keep them from starving." Absol said to an unconscious Cobalt.

Making sure that he didn't injure Cobalt further (Injuring slaves lowers their value), Absol used the flat of his blade to lift Cobalt onto his back. He then holwed in the air to the rest of his group, signalling he had found something. The high pitched howl echoed across the flat wasteland.

Cobalt awoke a few hours later, unable to move. He was on the Absol's back, who was walking with a Zoroark and a Weaville.
"Who are you, and why did you attack me?" Cobalt yelled, looking around at his captors.

"Look who's awake." laughed the Zoroark.
"I attacked you, because you were there. Food is held by the powerful pokemon, and selling them slaves is the best way to keep our families fed." said the Absol, without looking back.
"And don't try to move. We slipped you some Omeda Berries when you were out cold. They paralyze from the neck down for a few hours. By the time they wear off, you will be sold, and we will be fed." added the Weaville.

"My parents died, so I could live as a slave.." Cobalt thought to himself. He continued to wonder his fate, and why his Psychic attack backfired.

The sun was starting to rise, and due to his temporary paralysis, Cobalt was only able to look in one direction from Absol's back. East, where the sun was blocked out by a large swamp...

(OOC: You swamp pokemon in for a bit of action? ;)...)

Yuri and Isla (Pikachu and Leafeon)

Yuri sighed as she slumped against the cave wall, despair filling every bit of her body. They hadn't been in the swamp for long, and the usually cheerful and optimistic Pikachu was already losing hope about how much longer they could stay. Food and water were very scarce, there were still injured Pokémon, and the young Pikachu wasn't sure how much more she could do to help - even with Torin's help.
Unhappily, the Pikachu let her eyes close, hoping she would finally get some decent rest.

Across the cave from her, Isla was pacing. The Leafeon was quickly getting uncomfortable in the small space and she just wanted to get out and run around for exercise, but did not want to risk getting separated from the group. She growled in frustration, glaring at the ground. It had been a few days but the Leafeon hated this swamp, it was unlike the beautiful meadow-like area she and her family had occupied and she missed it.

She missed them.

The sound of a Pokémon moving caught her attention and she glanced over at the Glaceon and Charmeleon that had not been with the group for very long. She hadn't gotten to know them yet, but she could remember the Charmeleon had been injured badly.

Hesitantly, she padded over to them. "Hey, I don't think she should be getting up yet. She was hurt pretty bad."

Flash (Flareon)

Flash groaned in pain as he continued to trek through the swamp that he had entered only the day before. Ever since the attack on the valley, he had been on his own. He missed his sisters, both had been killed when Firestorm's army had attacked the valley. Felicity and Serenity had both been Jolteon, and the pair had fought hard to escape when the valley was attacked

Only he made it out.

He wasn't sure if there were other survivors. Pausing to clean the large, deep cut on his right front paw, he grimaced. He hated the taste, but he kept the wound as clean as possible so that it wouldn't get infected. The limp that had come as a result from the deep cut was hindering his travel, but he wanted to get somewhere safe before he took time to rest and let it heal.

With a sigh, he continued on, hoping to reach the shadowy figure that appeared to be a cave that was in the distance.

...yays!

Chip, Poppy and Torin
Furret twins and shiny Pikachu
the group in the swamp

Chip watched as Poppy and Torin descended from the huge tree he was standing beside. They had climbed up to get a look at their position. The group had been traveling through the heavy fog for so long that it was difficult to get any kind of bearing. The massive tree had provided a vantage point. Bringing his gaze back down to earth, Chip noticed that Nightfang was still watching the haze uneasily. He really could not blame her. Even though he could see better than most of the others, the mist dampened everything else. Sounds were muffled and the smell of stagnant water was everywhere making it difficult to scent anything that might be in the area. A call from Poppy made him look up again.

“We could see the end of the fog!” she said, leaping off a thick root at the base of the tree. “Believe it or not, this grey soup actually ends. We might even reach the end of it by nightfall.” She trotted up to her brother, smiling. Despite being the same age, Poppy was smaller than the other Furret. But, that had never bothered her.

Torin followed and the shiny Pikachu quickly confirmed what she said. “The fog does end. But it’s impossible to see if the swamp actually ends there too. The soggy ground might go right up to the mountains.” Now that they were back on the damp ground, condensation was building on his fur again. A small spark leapt from the Pikachu’s dark red cheek making him roll his eyes. “And truthfully, I’ll be happy just to get out of this mist.”

This made the small Furret giggle. “Me too! Definitely! So what do we do next?” she asked, looking around.

“Well,” Chip said, “whatever it is, we need to decide quick. Are we moving on?”

Torin looked around at the injuries that still remained untreated properly. Most of the Pokemon needed rest, but they needed proper care as well. Embyr and Bladestrike were in both in particularly bad shape. Glancing around the small area he could actually see, there were plenty of plants. Unfortunately, most were of no use for what he needed or had roots that were caked with rancid mud he had no real way of cleaning off. Others growing close to the ground were caught in puddles of decaying leaves that caused the small plants to rot.

“I vote moving on. There’s nothing for me to use here.” Torin’s cheeks sparked again and he gave a irritated growl. “Ugh! And the sooner the better!”

Poppy was not so sure leaving the swamp sooner would be better for her. Her mood had been improving. All the worries that were tugging at the back of her mind seemed to have lessened and she had not had a bad dream since entering the swamp. Strangely, it was as if the mist dampened her troubles as well as everything else. Still, she could not say that the group should stay there when things would clearly be better for everyone else. While she was thinking though, the Furret did remember something else. She leaned closer to her brother whispering quietly to keep from alarming any of the others.

“Y’know, we saw something else. A really big Pokemon was flying over the fog. It went toward the mountains.”

Chip looked a little concerned. “Are you sure?”

His sister nodded then smiled. “It’s okay though. He looked like he was really happy. I don’t think he was bad or anything.”

A bit confused by this, the Furret let his concern fade at Poppy’s sincere smile. While her instincts had been acting odd recently, they were fairly accurate. From what she said, the Pokemon they saw was most likely a dragon type. But if Poppy believed it was not a danger, he believed her. He would just have be a little wary when they made it closer to the mountains.

Torin meanwhile had been looking around. “Hey, where did that new kid, Gladewing, get to?”

Default Re: Journey from the Valley [RP]

(Everyone, to clarify, we're starting a bit further on in the swamp, not the cave!)

Nightfang listened to Chip, Poppy, and Torin's conversation, feeling a bit of unease at the fact that she herself had been able to do. She had become something of a leader, but now their situation was starting to cast doubts over her; she wasn't sure if she could really lead anyone at all. She was just as lost as they were in the end...what if she took them the wrong way?

As soon as Torin spoke of moving on, Nightfang felt a bit relieved. The pikachu had good points, and it helped that someone else was there to contribute to making a decision. Shaking drops of moisture from her fur again, the mightyena walked over to him. "I agree," she stated, realizing along with the fact that there was nothing the healer pikachu could use that there was also little food, which the injured pokemon especially needed to recover. "We should keep going. There's got to be a better chance of finding at least clean water somewhere near the mountains," she added, looking to Poppy. She wasn't sure what to think of the big pokemon the furret had described, and in all honesty, it frightened her a bit. Then again, if it had seemed friendly, maybe she shouldn't worry. She was simply so used to the idea of hostile inhabitants in these strange lands.

The mightyena then looked at the injured charmeleon, feeling another pang of worry. "We're going to have to find a way to bring her with us," she said. "There's certainly no way she can stay here."

"What do you mean?" a confused sounded voice stated, and she turned to see Bladestrike, the scyther looking at her with a wide-eyed and completely clueless gaze. It was so strange for her to see, much stranger than even the nasty wound on his head. This wasn't like the Bladestrike she knew at all.

"We can't stay here," she said quickly, turning away. "There's no food or water."

Bladestrike looked from left to right, as if trying to determine this for himself before conceding that she was right. "I don't want to keep going," he said, his voice edged with fear as he backed up near the large tree Chip and Poppy had climbed. "It's too far."

Nightfang noticed that he was still limping badly, but she certainly couldn't allow him to stay behind. "We're leaving," she told him simply. "Like I said, we can't stay here." The scyther didn't reply, seeming to understand she was right, but still looked frightened as he huddled next to the tree. Nightfang turned to look at the other gathered pokemon. "Once Gladewing gets back," she announced, "we move on toward the mountains."

Gladewing (Scyther)
Currently: Talking to Sy

Gladewing was quite happy when the little Riolu accepted the berries. The Scyther had been concerned about the flavor of the Qualots, but the pup seemed to enjoy its flavor.

After nabbing a few bites, the Riolu glanced back up at Gladewing. “I’m Symon,” he spoke in his quiet voice. “But… I like Sy better.”

“Sy, then!” said Gladewing cheerfully. He have a little bow to the pup—though it was a little awkward, due to the armful of berries in his possession. “It is a pleasure to meet you, young master Sy!”

“Th…thank you for the berries…”

“Ah, think nothing of it,” Gladewing dismissed humbly. “I am merely doing what I can to help a stranger in need.” The Scyther thought for a moment, then added, “This land isn’t safe to travel alone… Why don’t you come with me? There’s a pack of Pokémon not too far from here, who are searching for new lands. They are friendly bunch—perhaps they can help you find your way?”

The Scyther ended his offer with another warm smile.

*****

Snowsong (Glaceon) // Embyr (Charmeleon)
Currently: Discussing with group

Snowsong’s hair stood on end as the Leafeon suddenly approached them. Bitter memories returned to her unbidden—memories that she would have rather kept hidden. She fought against her instinct to fight, barely managing to keep back a threatening growl. Breathing deeply, she counted as she endured the Leafeon’s comments.

What do you know? She wanted to snap at Isla. Fortunately, before her patience could break, the pack gathered around to discuss their next course of action. The Glaceon scowled and moved a short distance away from Isla and Embyr. She listened to their conversation, though she didn’t put any input in herself. For now, she was happy remaining aloof. But when Nightfang voiced her concern for Embyr she glanced back at the Charmeleon, who continued staring despondently at the ground. Snowsong sighed, wishing that the reptile could speak for herself. Since meeting her, she had only mumbled something once—her name, or at least, that’s what Snowsong surmised.

The mentally confused Scyther spoke up then, saying, “I don’t want to keep going.”

Snowsong noticed how awkwardly Nightfang behaved around this Pokémon—sometimes uncertain, sometimes irritated. While the Glaceon didn’t know quite what was going on between the two, she sensed that Nightfang expected something from him. And, she certainly wasn’t getting it.

“We’re leaving,” the Mightyena told him in words one would use to a pup. “Like I said, we can’t stay here.”

Snowsong flicked her tail in annoyance at Bladestrike. “Got any better ideas? No? Then tough it up.”

The Glaceon stood and prowled along the edge of their camp-site, searching for any sign of the other annoying Scyther. Seeing none, she turned to Nightfang. “We should just leave him—there’s no guaranteeing that he’ll come back, anyway. He’s not one of us.” She put emphasis on ‘us’.

Sy looked up at Gladwing from his second berry. He blushed at being called "master" he didn't feel like he was that important. When Gladwing offered Sy to go with him he looked back down to think. Sy never really felt comfortable around strangers, but what choice did he have? He was lost, injured and had nowhere to go.

Sy whimpered, dropped his half-eaten berry and held his left shoulder as another pang of pain shot through it. Sy decided that going with this Scyther would probably be the best option. He doubted he would know anyone in this pack of pokemon, but maybe someone would be able to do something about the Riolu's injury. Sy certainly didn't want to stay in this filthy swamp any longer than he had to either. Having made his decision Sy stood up and nodded.

"O...okay, I'll go with you." he whispered.

Sy knew that Gladwing was right about this land not being safe, and there was safety in numbers, so the Riolu knew he was making the right decision. Atleast now he won't be lonely.

Cobalt awoke in what looked like a hollowed out tree. he was tied in vines, which held his arms to his torso, and his feet together. After yelling for help in his paralyzed state a few hours earlier, the Weaville knocked him unconcious. This must be where they hold the slaves until they sell them. Cobalt stretched his stiff legs, which caused him to realize something. He could move! The berries must have worn off! But he was still stuck in the vines, unable to get out. After a few minutes, he had a flashback. From when he was a Ralts. His mother asked his father to make a fruit salad, with fruits from the numerous trees in the valley. Cobalt was playing with his father at the time, and didn't want to stop, so he made a game out of it. His father extended his blades from his elbows, and Cobalt would throw the fruit to him, which he would slice. It was one of the many happy memories he had with his family.
"Maybe I can do that?"
Cobalt thought to himself. he closed his eyes, and made the blades extend. Just as easy as raising an arm. The blades cut through the vines around his torso, and he then split those around his feet. Cautious as to the whereabouts of the slavers, Cobalt quietly walked over to the opening of the hollowed out tree, and looked for the Weaville, Zoroark and Absol. Zoroark and Absol were gone, but Weavile stood a few meters away from the opening, making sure nobody would take his pickings.

Remembering what happened in the fight with Absol, Cobalt decided against using Psychic. His only option was to fight hand-to-hand. He snuck up behind Weaville, and readied a fist. He punched Weavile in the back,

as he said "Surprise m**********r!".

Weaville fell to his knees, where Cobalt then punched him in the head, knocking him out.
"I was never this strong as a Kirlia." Cobalt thought as he smiled.
He ran past Weaville's unconcious body and through the trees. It was only now that Cobalt noticed he was in the swamp that he saw before he was knocked out.

After a hour of running, Cobalt finally stopped for a rest. He knew he had covered enough ground. He also learnt that he was alot faster as a Gallade. Maybe evolving wasn't such a bad thing after all! Cobalt sat down to catch his breath. Even though he had covered a fair bit of group, those pokemon were fast. He got up a few minutes later, and was about to keep moving until he heard voices. Cobalt moved through the trees to where the voices were coming from. There he found a Scyther, Mightyena, Two Furrets and a Pikachu. But the Mightyena interested Cobalt the most. It seemed to look familiar. Then he remembered where he saw it. Back home in the Valley. He didn't know her personally, but had seen her around.
Cobalt stepped out of the shadows of the trees into the open.
"Are you pokemon from the Valley?" He asked...

“Got any better ideas?" the glaceon was saying. "No? Then tough it up.”

It took a moment for Bladestrike to realize that the pokemon was talking to him. Somewhat startled, he looked in her direction, pure confusion crossing his face. He couldn't tell if this was a pokemon he was supposed to know or not, but she certainly didn't sound like a friend. A little taken aback, he stepped backward a few paces, still keeping his eyes on her. "We should stay here for a while," he stated loudly, though he sounded uncertain. All he knew was that he didn't know if he'd be able to keep up if he left, and this pokemon did not seem to understand why it was hard. He shook his head stubbornly. "It's not that easy!" he shouted, suddenly sounding angry, but it only lasted a moment before his fearful look returned, and, suddenly looking afraid of the glaceon, he shuffled back toward the tree.

Nightfang gave him a perplexed look before turning to the ice type herself. She understood where the eevee evolution was coming from, and in a way, she felt the same, but she didn't feel right about simply leaving the other scyther behind. "Let's wait just a bit longer," she said after a moment of thought. She then raised her voice so all the nearby pokemon could hear. "Everyone, start to get ready. We leave soon." She was about to say more, but was interrupted by a new voice.

"Are you pokemon from the Valley?"

The mightyena whirled around, a bit alarmed that she had been distracted enough not to notice the pokemon approaching before. That, along with the fact that the swamp disguised most other scents, unnerved her even more about being in a strange place. The startled feeling quickly passed, however, as she realized that this gallade did not seem hostile. Stepping a few paces toward him, she nodded her head. "Yes," she told him. "We are."

"Yes, we are." The Mightyena replied. Those words were like music to Cobalt's ears.
"I'm Cobalt." he said to the group. "My parents were Aqua, a Gardevior and Crimson, a Gallade. I was a Kirlia when the Valley was attacked. They killed my parents in front of my eyes."
Cobalt couldn't help but cry at the memory. Though he was fully evolved, he was still young.
"I don't know what happened next. The stress must have rushed my evolution. I evolved, but became this colour. I have been running since. Until I was captured by three slave traders and escaped."
Cobalt continued to cry as he spoke.
"Could I please come with you? It is too dangerous out there for me to travel alone." Cobalt asked...
