I think it's probably like you said--the old folks are trying to beat around the bush. Course, I also think that Pokemon don't reproduce like normal animals, so... maybe they really don't know where the eggs come from xD

Young people often think of old people as completely oblivious to those kind of things, so it makes sense that they would say something like that and plenty of people wouldn't question it.

I guess no one does really know how Pokemon have eggs. I mean Pokemon can breed with a Ditto, the general principles of breeding may not apply. Heck, no one even knew Pokemon eggs existed until Johto! xD

I think the old people just don't want to go over the details of Pokemon reproduction.

It will be an awkward conversation to have with a ten year old that you just met an hour ago and explain that two Pokemon did a 'dance' to make an egg. (I would go into more detail but I rather not push the limits of the forum rules.)

Yup, I really do believe they just don't want to get into any awkward conversations with young trainers. There was just that "what if..." factor I had to bring up. ^^

And you're right. The specifics of Pokemon eggs are pretty vague. I have to say, one of the comics from this week ("Kit's Platinum Nuzlocke", I believe) had a rather interesting explanation. And coincidental with this week's topic as well. XD
