The original. He was never created to kill Sonic, it just sort of ended up with him trying because he was an obstacle to world destruction. You know, that he ended up stopping himself. YAY CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT.

Do you remember Sonic X? That's what I got my info from.

-Original Shadow: Made by Dr. Ivo Robotnik to protect Maria. Gets amnesia from explosion and tries to remember what "Maria" means.

-Clone Shadow: Made by Dr. Eggman to get rid of Sonic for world domination.

EDIT FROM ONE DAY LATER: Hay, guiz, I's gotz an idea for a friendly, little competition. How about an AIM Sonic 2 competition where when one of us loses a life, we pause, and wait until the other person loses a life! It rotates until someone beats Sonic 2/Last one with any lives left. Comments?

Actually, I have the Mega Collection GC disk. And I meant like one at a time. One person goes. "WHOOPS, I LOST A LIFE! IT'S YOUR TURN, _____!" That goes on until one of the above mentioned.

Hmm, the "clone" was really just a robotic copy. He made several of them, actually. Said "clone" in Heroes was thought to be just that, but in Shadow's game it was found out it was the original.

The robots were so much fun to destroy. They launched rockets and always looked like they were dancing. DANCE SHADOW BOTS DANCE.

Hmm, interesting...I haven't played Sonic 2 since I was like, 5. I have it for the 360 though :)

WHOA. YOU LOST ME WITH YOUR HIP, YOUNG LINGO, SON. I remember an episode when Angel Island (Was it?) or Ivo's lab was gonna explode and take the whole world with it, and it showed two pods. In which they were both Shadow. One was a "clone" and the other was the real deal.
