Default Pokemon Showdown

http://pokemonshowdown.com/

I don't know how many people know about it, or if it's already been posted, for that matter. But I thought it warranted attention. A free, web-browser based Pokemon simulator? Sounds cool to me. It's still in "beta" but it seems functional. Also, it is set up more for competitive play, but it also has a random mode that's good for pick-up-and-play matches.

I think it would be really cool if we could get the PE2K community to participate in this. I myself, for whatever reason, cannot connect to wifi on my games, so this is a wonderful alternative. Plus, if we're already using the forum, I think it's easier then pulling out your DS.

So, thoughts? Would anyone be interested?

Interesting, but I'd still much rather use the Pokemon Online battle simulator for competitive battling. It's a very nice program, although it requires a download.

It's pretty awesome that it's browswer based so people don't have to download. I don't really battle much, but it seems like a good alternative for those that don't have WiFi!

The battle system on there isn't too bad, really.

Pokemon Online is MUCH more well known, yes. But as you mentioned, and I agree with, it requires a download. I find that to be a major turn-off for many people.

I agree. And the set-up is pretty good as well. My gripe is that there is no "sign up", but it locks you via ip address. Or I believe so, as when I run incognito (oh, Chrome), it doesn't save my teams.

Yeah, it looks like it does it by I.P. address which isn't really convenient.

Yes, it does do it by IP. Which IS inconvenient. I think a log-in system would better utilize the program.
