Stay thirsty my Friends

Each week, besides the submissions from our employees for the Comics section of the URPG Times, we also welcome submissions from the community! Remember, qw pay $1,500 for each submission usually. The amount paid might be adjusted accordingly based on your comic and permanent employees will be paid slightly higher. You don't have to be a professional as well; the only criteria is for it to be funny! PM comic submissions to Alaskapigeon or Gmandiddy

Featured Member Interview
By MaverickKaiser

Favourite Pokemon: Snorlax, ***** don't take no sh*t.

Favourite Gym Mon: Hmm, in terms of usefulness, Dragonite. It's tough to bring down, and can wreck through teams easily. But my favorite mon in general would be Politoed because he makes it rain on dem hoes.

Memorable URPG Moment: Uh, I guess getting my first E4 victory. Being the first BMGer to do so was a pretty neat accomplishment.

What got you in to URPG: Well, I was somewhat active on BMG's forums already, and I had been seeing threads and stuff related to URPG, so I was finally curious enough to do some investigating. I joined, Alaska found/mindraped me, and here I am.

What do you think about the people in the URPG: Mostly p. cool people. Defs made some good friends here.

Why you chose your gym and if you like the type: Well, Water is viewed as a really good gym type to have, so when Pastoria opened I sorta jumped on it. Water isn't my favorite type, but it's definitely easy to defend, so no complaints there. If I could, I'd probably pick fighting, but I won't be giving up Pastoria anytime soon.

Are you looking for something to come to URPG: A new forum. If URPG needs anything, it's more members, and I would love to be a part of a merge with another forum. I also hope to complete my badge collection sometime in 2012, so that's something to look forward to.

Featured Gym Leader Interview
By MaverickKaiser
(Note: This is from when XALI was still a Gym Leader)

Favourite Pokemon: Gardevoir

Favourite Gym Mon: Jolteon

Memorable URPG Moment: When I became champ and then lost honourably to Dat Punk (Pidge)

What got you in to URPG: Snow Fairy Sugar from PE2K

What you think about the people in the URPG: Um...disregard females acquire currency. Everyone's p. chill, and I'm happy to see some activity going on AFTER I left >.>
No but seriously, I am lol.

Why you chose your gym and if you like the type: Because when I first started, I had more electric types than anything else, so I went with Mauville and it yielded good results, so I decided to head on over to Sunyshore when it opened up C:

Are you looking for something to come to URPG: The return of the Messiah.....Idk, I don't urpg anymore so...yeah. And I wanna send out a shout-out to Pidge and Ataro(Is he still here?) and to all of my peeps!

Pokemon Of The Bi-Week Article
By SLC and DynaVolt
In every issue of the URPG Times, either me or Dynavolt will randomly choose a "Pokιmon Of The Bi-Week". If you're a member of the URPG, and you happen to have that Pokιmon, you will win $1,000! Just reply to this thread to claim your money! It's that simple!

Hopefully you've taken your $1,000 last week if you own a Scizor, but if you haven't it's too late. Now, however, if you own a Reuniclus or any of it's prevolutions you can take another 1k. Now, let's see if I can get the next paragraph correct this week :smokin:

How to Obtain One

Solosis, the most basic form of Reuniclus, doesn't have the luxury of being available in the Pokιmart, meaning you have to get writing for one. Well, unless you're lucky enough to have a friend trade you one of these psychic-types. Solosis, however, can be captured in a story for 10000 characters which is a fair price to pay. It can also be found in the National Park (in Meteor Valley which is full of dark-types, ghost-types and other psychic-types) with just a 9000 MCR value. I recommend heading over to the park because the Valley is full of great Pokιmon which you can also catch while you are there.
At a glance
[S]Scizor[/S]Reun is obviously slow and has trick room, so it'd probably stand out to use a trick room sweep set. Next, it has magic guard and a large special attack, which makes Life Orb a pretty obvious choice for something of its form.
Reuniclus is very similar to the Musharna of earlier issues. It's a trick room sweeper, so basically all you have to do with it is Trick Room and then attack with the super effective moves. However, this is easier said than done. Reun isn't as bulky as Musharna, so it'll take some planning. However, if the Trick Room is set up, I'd suggest Calm Mind boosting. That way it has higher special bulk and can hit even harder. If items are in play, then I'd say giving it a Life Orb in conjecture with Magic Guard as it gives the boost while not giving Recoil in return. Another option is using a Thunder Wave set, which helps if Reun has speedier teammates which are crippled by Trick Room. Tricking a Flame Orb or a Toxic Orb is also not a bad idea to cripple attackers without an ability making them benefit.

Moves to buy
[CODF]Calm Mind (Great for getting Reun to set up and sweep in the Trick Room environment) 3.5K
Protect (A handy move to carry) 9K
Thunder (Helps against bulkier water types that aren't part Ground) 7K
Shadow Ball (Helps against Gengar or Jellicent, which trouble Reun) (6K)
Focus Blast (Helps especially against Steel types) 7K
Energy Ball (Gives great coverage and helps against threats like Swampert or Gastrodon) 5K
Thunder Wave (See strategy section) 4K
Substitute (Always a great move to carry) 7K
Trick Room (See strategy section) 5K

That adds up to 53.5K, which isn't a lot for the hefty buyer.

Roleplayer of the Week
Unfortunately, there isn't one this week. GG.

Quiz of the Week (and Last Week's Results)
By WebMaster

Battle Scenario

Throh (M/Inner Focus) @ 100% vs. Swampert @ 23.00% Def+6 SpDef+6 Ref-3 LS-2

Looking pretty bad huh? That Swampert's gonna wall you into next year. However, there's one move that makes this a heck of a lot easier. You can use any move in Throh's movepool. Swampert will keep using Waterfall. Neither mon is holding an item. More points are given based on how few turns it takes

Ref this

Togekiss @ 100% (M/Serene Grace @ Lefties) vs. Zweilous @ 100% Spd+1 (M/Hustle @ Life Orb)

(1 point if you can give me the accuracy; assume all moves hit and no freeze or flinch occurs)
Togekiss uses Endeavor
Zweilous uses Ice Fang

Picture Time

There are three non-uber Pokemon whose speeds exceed 359. Name them

Brock has only seen one legendary completely on his own (movies don't count). Name it

Blend the following berries: Belue, Spelon, Hondew, Lum. (Blending guide in the berry store is considered accurate in this case) What Pokeblock would I get? (Color and stats)

Video Games

There are two gyms that have different leaders depending on your version. Name them

Where and in what games can you find where the character mentions the game's programming?

Anime 2

In what episode does Meowth rush Team Rocket saying they only have three minutes left in the episode?

Calculate the Attack of a level 68 Blaziken with a neutral nature, 31 IVs and no EVs.

Hint: Use this page to help you Stats - Bulbapedia, the community-driven Pokιmon encyclopedia

National Park

Swampert has disobeyed using Toxic after its first failed attempt and has just feel for a taunt that seemed easily avoidable. However, it loved to use its own Water Gun and Earthquake earlier in the fight due to his eagerness to use them. What nature is Swampert?

Pokemon 2

There are three Pokemon with no type weaknesses due to their typing or their abilities. Name them (omit evolutions)

Video Games 2

URPG History

What was the highest amount ever paid in an auction, what was it for, and who paid it?

Last Week's Results:

Pidge - $10750 (43/50)
We Taste Pies… - $10000 (40/50)
Kai-Mei - $9500 (38/50)
Xali - $9250 (37/50)
Eriazaa - $9250 (37/50)
TED - $9250 (37/50)
Pichu Boy - $9250 (37/50)
SLC - $9000 (36/50)
Hushie - $8250 (33/50)
DrStubbsberg - $8000 (32/50)
Jack of Clovers - $6000 (24/50)

I'm glad I had a few submissions however, I realize I need to adjust some things in the next one like eliminating the Trainer Search section. Hope this extra wad of cash helps you guys

NOTE: If you don't want your money to become uneven, you may choose to claim $250 less of what you won. This is completely optional though.

Battle Scenario: Use Imprison (one turn = 5 points; two-three turns = 3 points; four-five turns = 1 point; six or more turns = 0 points)

If you had a logical solution, I took it and gave you points for how many turns it took. The real solution was imprison which would cause Dusknoir to KO itself in one turn. (well technically two now that I realize it but I'll take it at max value)

Ref this: Haxorus @ 51.68%; Rotom-W @ 66.77% (3 points max)

A couple of you got caught by the Mold Breaker and didn't negate Levitate with it. Some of you were only off by a couple percents. However, over half of you got it right.

Video Games: Ekans, Oddish, Mankey, Growlithe, Scyther, Electabuzz (one half a point each)

This was an easy one. Just go to Bulbapedia. A lot of you put Mew but I wasn't looking for it since that can't be caught in any of the versions.

Moves: 77/256 (5 points max)

I was going to mark it wrong if you gave me 3/10 but I was convinced not to. Upokecenter says that it's 77/256 (approx 30%) to cause a freeze.

Math: 1.125% (3 points max)

Simple one. Just multiple .9 for acc, .125 for crit, and .1 for burn

Anime: Porygon (2 points)

Yeah. I was surprised many got this one but then again, I guess you can just search under banned episodes :P

Pokemon: Serperior (3 points)

Nicely done searching through the Pokedex entries. I was impressed with how many of you got this one.

Flavor: Route 28/29 (3 points)

I took either one. Check at the northern part of the route for a trainer saying he's taking a break and saving his game.

Trivia: Eevee, Ho-oh, Girafarig, Alomomola (1 point each)

Yeah a lot of you got these. Just look up one of them and go to trivia and it will tell you the others.

Math 2: 84% (5 points)

For starters, take 259 (Togekiss's speed) and multiply it by 32 which should get you 8288. Next take that number and divided by 44.75 (Rhydon's speed divided by 4) which should give you 185.2 approximately. Next add 30 to that number since 30 * 1 = 30 and that should give you 215.2. Finally, divided that by 256 and you should end up with 84.1% (I took 84% as well).

Picture Time: (3 points): New Bark Town

New Bark Town as seen in the episode Don't touch that 'Dile. Gman helped me come up with that one. I couldn't even get it at first glance. I'll make the next one a little easier.

Trainer Search: Rainbow Moondust; HKim; 3mod011 (1 point each)

I am officially dumping this section out of the Times from here on. I think we should just leave it at that but here are the answers.

Contests: (1 point each)
GRAY PokeBlock
****Feel: 34
****Spicy: 0
****Dry: 49
****Sweet: 0
****Bitter: 49
****Sour: 23

I'm surprised many of you did not attempt this. Just go to the berry store and do some math.

****2, cannot eat it

Trick question. The Feel would exceed 255.

URPG: Ataro (3 points)

Yep. Ataro's the only one that's held a gym in all 5 leagues. I don't know whether to say "Congrats" or "Show some consistency" loljk

Anime 2: Fuchsia Gym (3 points)

Yep. Fuchsia city gym has slanting rooms. I'm glad many of you are knowledgeable of the Kanto anime ;)

Total: 50 points

Well, that's about it for this one. The next one here is gonna be a little easier. Still, the goal remains the same as the last one: nobody gets 100% :P
Not bad for only sending in half the trivia answers. Just to clarify, since it isn't specifically mentioned anywhere, we still send results to Webmaster, ya?
