One of Poketopia's Colosseums, it is a haunted castle with ghostly flames on each corner of the courtyard. The battlefield courtyard is surrounded with tall concrete walls except for the stone archway which is the entrance and exit. Battles here always take place at night therefore moves that require the sun(i.e. Morning Sun, Sunny Day etc) will always fail. Occasionally a thick fog might set in. At the start of each round, there's a 20% chance of fog. The fog will stay for 2 rounds, unless it has been Defogged. When fog is in play, all Accuracy of moves are reduced by 10%. Here's a picture.

Challenger makes the thread, please. :)
Let's go you two!

Vudu the Claydol [-]
Ability: Levitate
Sig Move: None

Artex the Archeops [M]
Ability: Defeatist
Signature Move: Defiant Surge
Description:
Spoiler:
Archen and Archeops know that they have a need to stay in top form or they will lose power. Well Artex had just about enough of his stupid ability that was probably the cause of their kind becoming extinct in the first place. After his ability activates, Artex calls out in defiance, focusing his loss of power to another source: his endurance. Knowing it’s all for nothing, the prehistoric bird goes for it, trying to knock out his opponents as fast as he can before he wears himself down.
Type: Rock
Base Power: N/A
Accuracy: 100
Classification: Status
Energy Modifier: 10
Impact: Self
Priority: 0
Effects:
Defeatist’s ability affects Defense and Special Defense instead of Attack and Special Attack.
Loses 5% HP each round
Can only be used when Defeatist is active.
Causes Taunt status on self and can only use attacking moves.
Effects last until Artex is either knocked out, or switched out.
Usage Gap: Once per battle.

Come on out to play!

[Volk] Galvantula
Ability: Compoundeyes
Obtained: Starter
Signature Move: Static Suction
Spoiler:
Description: Ever since evolution, Galvantula’s appetite for electricity has become monstrous. Its static spinneret constantly uses up static and Galvantula has to find ways to refill it every time. Unfortunately during battles, he runs out on electricity at the most dire of times. However, his keen sense of sight has enabled him to detect body static on his opponent. Instead of clinging onto Pokemon when he was a Joltik, he rushes forward and latches his mandibles onto any part of his opponent and drains off the body static.
Type: Electric
Base Power: 75
Accuracy: 90
Classification: Physical
Energy Modifier: 0
Effects: User: +X HP and +X Energy, where X is the damage dealt by this attack multiplied by 0.5.
Usage Gap: Once every 2 rounds.

[Chandelite] Chandelure
Ability: Flash Fire
Obtained: Pokemon Trivia Centre
Signature Move: N/A

Volk, use Thunder Wave on Archeops then Charge Beam it. If Thunder Wave didn't work the first turn, repeat it. If Claydol Guards, switch to Bug Buzz instead.

Chandelite, spam Claydol with some lovely Shadow Balls!

Galvantula@Archeops: Thunder Wave/Bug Buzz ~ Charge Beam/Thunder Wave/Bug Buzz

Chandelure@Claydol: Shadow Ball ~ Shadow Ball

Artex avoid that Thunder Wave with Protect. Then follow up with a nice Rock Slide.

Vudu, use Safeguard to prevent any other status conditions for the moment, then follow up with Light Screen.

It was a spooky night, befitting of late October. Clouds covered all the stars in the sky, and the full moon shone through a break in the puffs of condensation. I shivered under my jacket as I hurried up to my place. They said they would be here at this time, but either I was a tad early or they were a tad late.

There they were - Sabi and Temporal Diamond, two acquaintances ready to have a friendly battle in a spooky place. They sent out their Pokemon, Sabi opting for an ancient, prismatic bird and a large, floating doll made of clay with creepily wide eyes. Diamond chose for himself a huge yellow spider and a chandelier lit by purple flames. Diamond's and Sabi's latter choices both seemed suitably mysterious for a dark night such as this. A bit creeped out, I gave the combatants the hasty signal to begin.

Round One

Artex lifted his wings, his claws glowing a faint teal. Blue-green energy flickered around him, concentrating and forming a wide bubble around the fossilized lizard-bird. Artex was locked in an impenetrable fortress for the round - safe from both his opponents and the hidden horrorterrors of the night.
[Protect: Artex, -8% Energy]

Volk gave an angry chitter of frustration. How was he supposed to paralyze his prey now? Resolving to be a determinator if nothing else, he rubbed his little arms together, generating static on the coarse bristles of hair that coated them. Flinging his arms up, he sent a golden wave of electricity flying at Artex. The Archeops's shield was uncompromising and the electricity fizzled out of existence once the two met.
[Thunder Wave (Failed): Volk, -4% Energy]

Chandelite was, however, completely able to hit his own target. The flames of his candles burned higher and darker, forming a large orb of blackish-purple flames atop his centerpiece. The ball of flame launched directly at Vudu in the way that plasma energy launches from the cannon on a Wraith. The ball exploded in a burst of purple, causing Vudu to let out a rippling bellow of pain.
[Shadow Ball: Vudu, -15% HP; Chandelite, -5% Energy]

Vudu had something of a desire to retaliate, but she knew that it was worthwhile to lay down some protection in the early rounds. She closed her many eyes and focused. Several white rings of energy rippled into being around her, and then around Artex, still in his force field. These rings would protect against certain kinds of attacks for a while to come.
[Safeguard: Vudu, -8% Energy]

Artex's force field died down around him, but he didn't need it anymore. He was ready to take up the offensive. He flapped up high into the air, then came down hard and fast, slamming into the stony ground of the Colosseum. The stones lifted and began to fly in all directions, taking Volk and Chandelite by surprise. The rocks pelted them, bruising and battering them. Chandelite even felt his glass crack.
[Rock Slide: Artex, -6% Energy; Volk, -24% HP; Chandelite, -22% HP]

Now Volk was angry - really dang angry. Once again he rubbed his arms together and shot an arc of electricity at Artex, but the bird's protective rings saved him. Volk seethed with fury - would he accomplish nothing this round?
[Thunder Wave (Failed): Volk, -4% Energy]

Chadelite was not asking the same question; rather, he was lobbing balls of shadows at his voodoo-doll opponent. He created another ball of shadowy flames and once again lobbed it at Vudu. The Claydoll made an odd clacking noise in annoyance as her weakness, the touch of phantoms, filled her.
[Shadow Ball: Vudu, -15% HP; Chandelite, -5% Energy]

Vudu wanted to retaliate yet again, but her Trainer had other ideas. Instead of attacking, Vudu lifted her hands and formed a shimmering pink wall of psychic energy in front of her. It wasn't extremely strong, but it would keep most energy or projectile attacks from doing as much damage, as it would slow them down and partially deflect them. Now there were barriers all over Sabi's team, whereas Diamond's Pokemon were flagging. However, the battle was far from over. Spooky nights brought changes in fortune. Anything could happen and shocking twists were very real.

Artex use Substitute @ 20%, then use Smack Down on that Chandelure. If the living lamp tries to dodge or protect himself, go with Hone Claws instead.

Artex:
Sub @ 20% ~ Smack Down -> Chandelite/Hone Claws

Vudu go for a Rock Polish, then follow up with Bulldoze. However, if for some reason Artex's Smack Down failed, use Rock Slide on Volk and Chandelite instead.

Volk, began with a Thunderbolt on the Archeops' Substitute. Afterwards, give the Claydol a good dose of your Bug Buzz, muffliato-style~!

Chandelite, become ethereal! Then use a Shadow Ball on Claydol.

Round Two

Artex took a deep breath and lifted his claws, forming a little ball of pure white life energy in front of him. He began to form this ball like clay, changing it into a life-sized copy of himself. The whiteness faded, replaced by dingier versions of his own feathers' vivid colors. The copy looked strangely alive, built by Artex's own life force and ready to defend said life.
[Substitute: Artex, -20% HP; -7% Energy]

Volk was annoyed but not put off. He began to rub his claws together, channeling the buildup of static into them until the limbs began to glow and crackle. He then lifted his claws, releasing the energy in a burst like a miniature lightning-bolt that hurtled straight toward Artex. However, Artex's double was more than ready. It hovered directly into the lightning, blocking the attack with its body. The clone seemed to crack and hiss, until it shattered under the force of the electricity.
[Thunderbolt: Artex-sub, -22% HP; Volk, -8% Energy]

Meanwhile, Chandelite decided that it would be the best idea for him to be completely invulnerable to all brute-force attacks, just like a proper ghost. His body shimmered and began to become semi-transparent, his flames the only things that kept complete clarity. He was ethereal, untouchable - a true specter.
[Phase Shift: Chandelite, -6% Energy]

Vudu was prepared to take self-boosting measures as well. She began to focus her energy inward, until her whole body began to glow a pure, dazzling white. All the dust and chips that marred her body slightly were removed, until she was smooth as silk. The glow faded and Vudu rotated her hands experimentally, loving the way she felt as fast as a Rapidash.
[Rock Polish: Vudu, -3% Energy; +2 SPD]

Artex looked at Chandelite with narrowed eyes, pretty sure that becoming intangible counted as self-protection. He began to scrape his claws together, sharpening the edges, making them keen to slash and cut his opponents and to strike them in the right places. His claws, as if to demonstrate their new power, flickered briefly with a red glow.
[Hone Claws: Artex, -4% Energy, +1 ATK, +1 ACC]

Vudu switched tack as she watched her partner avoid a direct assault. She lifted her arms, calling on the power of stone. Hundreds of tiny dots formed above her hands, merging with each other and becoming glowing rocks. She threw the rocks across the field. They passed straight through Chandelite, but Volk felt the full force of the blow. He chittered and hissed angrily, feeling bruised and battered by the rocks.
[Rock Slide: Vudu, -10% Energy; Volk, -13% HP]

Volk glared at the voodoo doll with loathing. He opened his jaws and emitted a shrill, piercing scream that came forward in the form of red arcs of light. The waves passed through Vudu, hurting her head tremendously and filling her mind with pain. Too much noise, and too high-pitched.
[Bug Buzz: Vudu, -13% HP; Volk, -8% Energy]

Chandelite's flames began to grow yet again. Spheres of purple fire formed above the wicks of his candles, before they flew out in a burst of violet light. A sphere of purple flame formed, flying at Vudu and striking her with a burst of dark energy. The Claydol warbled in anger as the attack hit.

Volk, time for a Thunder on Archeops. If Archeops protects, Bug Buzz Claydol instead. After that, blast some sound at the Claydol.

Volk: Thunder@Archeops/BugBuzz@Claydol ~ Bug Buzz@Claydol

CHandelite, begin with Trick Room to mess them up. If you're Taunted, hurl a Shadow Ball at that mud doll. If Trick Room is up, burn Archeops. If you are still under Taunt, Shadow Ball again.

Vudu you're going to be a wall. First guard Artex from the Thunder attack, then use Protect.

Artex, use Taunt on Chandelite, and while everyone else is targeting Vudu, use Stone Edge on Volk.

Tendrils of fog curled in around the battlefield, obscuring the vision of all four battlers. However, they weren’t put off by the lack of visibility – it would make things more difficult for all of them, but they were confident that it wouldn’t cause them too much trouble.

Vudu decided to kick off the round with a defensive move; it moved through the darkness and the fog to stand in front of Artex, who hovered behind it. The ancient bird seemed reassured by the doll’s presence – he knew that he would be safe as long as the doll was there to protect him.

However, while his partner was defending him, the Archeops knew that he had to help the cause in a different way. He began to hurl insults at the opposing team, especially Chandelite. He yelled at the lamp, accusing him of being a coward because of her early transformation into an ethereal state. Unfortunately, the abuse did its job and the Chandelure was soon incredibly angry. He flew right of the handle and went into a nearly uncontrollable rage. Artex just smirked – his job was done.

But now it was time for the pokémon he had been taunting to show him the fruits of his labour. First of all, electricity crackled in Volk’s fur, giving a bit of light to Temporal Diamond’s team for the time being. The charge built up and built up, until the bug’s body could barely contain it all. Then it burst out, leaping out in the general direction of where Artex’s voice had been. However, the fossil’s powerful defender blocked the attack and discharged it harmlessly to the ground. Volk chattered angrily, sensing that nothing had come of his attack; hopefully he’d be able to make up the time later.

And if he couldn’t, maybe Chandelite could. The flames on his branches flickered in time with the candles around the edge of the arena as she focused on tuning into her scary, ghostly side. She knew that there was no chance of her being able to keep calm long enough to twist the field to her advantage, so she decided to channel her energy into breaking down her opponents. Dark energy swirled, mixing with the fog to form a sinister looking orb. An evil sounding cackle rang, making everyone, including the Chandelure’s teammates, jump. The lamp shot off the ball of darkness, laughing as he did so. It shot through the fog like a rocket. Vudu watched it approach and knew that it had no choice other than to take the hit. It shifted its weight and braced itself for the impact. The ball impacted and knocked the giant doll to the ground – despite putting a lot of effort into resisting the attack, Chandelite’s malevolence was too much for it. A lot of damage had been done.

Trying not to focus on the pain, it began to prepare a shield around its broken body. Green energy swirled in the fog, creating a dome of light, which surrounded the old monster. Unlike Claydol’s body, the dome was unbreakable, so it was perfect to protect the damaged artefact for a little while. Vudu closed his eyes peacefully – he was safe.

Artex watched his friend, clearly worried by the beating it had taken. He was glad that it had decided to wrap itself in a protective cocoon; it would be sure to draw enemy fire now that it was weakened so much. Meanwhile, the Archeops would be left to try and beat off both opponents on his own. A little daunted by this, he decided that he needed to get on with it as soon as possible. Sweeping through the fog, he smashes part of the wall with his tail. He then channels energy into the broken pieces of stone, making them levitate around his body in rings. He fired off the stones into the fog a few at a time, hoping that he’d manage to hit something. His efforts were rewarded when he heard the sound of a screaming spider. Almost laughing with relief, he shot off the rest of the stones in the direction of the sound. Volk barely even saw them coming; the pointed stones bit into his skin, drawing blood from beneath his yellow hair. Anger fills his mind. He doesn’t care who hit him, he was going to get revenge quickly.

He began to rub his front legs together, making an irritating buzzing sound. The sound waves spread out into the fog towards where the Galvantula hoped that Vudu was. Unfortunately, although he was correct about where his opponent was, the Claydol’s shield was easily able to block out the annoying sound. Vudu didn’t even notice that it was being attacked. Volk continued the attack for a couple of moments out of sheer desperation before deciding that it really was useless and giving up. Maybe his teammate would have more success.

Chandelite hadn’t run out of malevolence and rage just yet. He had been gathering more dark energies from the area. Being the grounds of a haunted castle, this arena had a plentiful store of energy which a ghost could use as they wished. The energy was now swirling around the lantern’s translucent body, almost obscuring it completely. After gathering more than enough energy for the time being, he begins to compact it as much as possible to form the familiar ball of darkness and evil. The ball rockets through the mist like its predecessor, but only manages to hit Vudu’s shield and fizzle out of existence. Chendelite screamed in annoyance. He had hoped to finish the Claydol off with that move. Nevertheless, everyone knew that it wouldn’t take much to push him off the edge now – it was only a matter of time.

Use Stone Edge on Volk, then Ancient Power on Chandelite. If Volk protects the first action, use Ancient Power on Chandelite instead. If you are Disabled from using Ancient Power during your second action, use Dragon Pulse on Chandelite instead. If Volk is still standing by the second action, Stone Edge Volk instead.

You did a good job. If you can, try to dodge any attack aimed at you. If nothing is aimed at you try to get up a Light Screen. Then try a Guard Share with Artex.

Now's our chance to cripple that fluttering Plume Fossil. Sucker Punch its guts out. If there's no clump of mud blocking your way, add a little zing into Artex's wings to render it useless. If not, eliminate it with Bug Buzz.

Volk: Sucker Punch@Archeops ~ Thunder Wave@Archeops/Bug Buzz@Claydol

Now my eerie chandelier, I want you to harness the night's magic to shield your partner from any attack aimed at it.

Chandelite: Shadow Ball (Cover Volk) ~ Shadow Ball (Cover Volk)

Round Four

Volk chittered, walking forward and meeting Vudu's eyes. The Claydol watched warily as Volk circled it. The staredown seemed to go on for hours, until finally Artex got sick of waiting and decided to attack. He lifted his wings, ready to summon the power of the earth - when Volk ran right at him and, with a glowing purple claw, slashed him across the belly. The Archeops stared at his wound in shock - it had happened so fast he barely knew what had happened.
[Sucker Punch: Artex, -12% HP; Volk, -11% Energy]

Artex glared at Volk - that little idiot thought it could really beat a Rock-type with a Dark-type move? He lifted his claws, pulling more rubble out of the broken wall. He looked eerie in the fog: a flying, clawed figure with glowing blue claws, gathering a nimbus of glowing stone pieces around himself. What was even more eerie was the way this avalanche of stone flew directly at Volk at merely a twitch of Artex's claws. However, Chandelite was ready for the attack and was already floating in front of Volk. A huge ball of shadows flew from Chandelite, hitting one of the larger rocks and detonating in a violet explosion. Chandelite was pleased as he saw the situation: the Stone Edge, neutralized. His partner, unhurt.
[Stone Edge: Artex, -9% Energy]
[Shadow Ball: Chandelite, -5% Energy]

Vudu put the insect's weird behavior and her partner's failure out of its mind, drawing some energy together and hoping to offer itself a little bit of protection from future attacks. All of its eyes closed, and it raised its top-shaped arms, drawing a large square with them. Once its arms returned to its sides, a pink outline appeared where Vudu's arms had passed over, and a faint wall of magenta energy filled the outline. It wasn't an invincible wall, but it would provide some protection against anything but a direct assault.
[Light Screen: Vudu, -6% Energy]

Volk took a menacing step forward, ready to make up for its prior failure. It began to chatter at a furious pace and an extraordinarily shrill pitch, sending red-and-green sound waves flying at Vudu, cutting through the fog. The clay doll warbled in alarm, swooping to the side to avoid the barrage of noise. Volk hissed with frustration as he watched his attack miss by a mile.
[Bug Buzz (Dodged): Volk, -8% Energy; Vudu, -5% Energy]

Artex took a long, hard look at Volk, ready to give the bug something else to be frustrated about. He pulled more rubble out of the pile, sending it flying right at the Electric-type. Chandelite, however, would have none of it, and another violet explosion disrupted the attack. None of the combatants, however, seemed happy - this was a very annoying stalemate.
[Stone Edge: Artex, -9% Energy]
[Shadow Ball: Chandelite, -5% Energy]

Ref Notes
Sucker Punch's Crit Roll was 66; 1-6.25 for Crit. Volk's boosted Accuracy neutralized the fog's effects.
Shadow Ball = 20 BP < Stone Edge; it works both times. The Evasion and Accuracy changes neutralized the fog's effects.
Light Screen ends when the next round ends.
The fog has dispersed.

Temporal Diamond, your moves please.

Uh Velo, Sucker Punch was aimed at Artex not Vudu.

Hellfire.
That doesn't even make any sense! Isn't Dark NVE to Rock? Whatever, I'll edit the round accordingly.
