Teachers Whom You Miss

I've had a few really awesome teachers, but I'd have to say, these were a few my favorites:

Mr. Roman - Had him for two electronics classes in high school. The guy was always hilarious, extremely sarcastic, and if you've ever watched Scrubs, a LOT like a grizzly, biker version of Dr. Cox, even though everyone knew he was just kidding about his commentary in truth. Awesome guy.

Gary Kritz - Marketing Professor I had in college. Awesome and funny guy, I hope I get to take one of his classes again now that I'm back in school going for the MBA. I loved the day he showed us the recording of when he was a contestant on a game show. Totally epic.

Mr. Devore - Had him in seventh grade, and he was a really great social studies teacher. As an added bonus, every Friday the class played Trivia Pursuit, and the winning team got +5 extra credit points. You could not ask for a better Friday than that!

Ms Kahn - I had her in year four, which was.. wow, seven years ago now. She was just such a lovely woman, and she taught me how to play the drums. I still sometimes show up her doorstep.

Ms Morely - She was my German teacher in year eight. I hated German before I had her, but she made me really love it. I ended up dropping it halfway through last year, though, which I really regret.

Let's see, there's a couple.

Mrs. Hill, in sixth grade. You couldn't ask for a more understanding teacher. Looking back now, I feel bad for all the trouble we probably put her through, what with springing surprise parties in class every few weeks for no reason. Poor woman, get a message from the office, come back to chips, cookies, and soda. XD

My band directors in HS. They were definately a pair. One was quiet and very serious about music, the other loud, jumpy and just as serious about music. They could be fun though, especially Mr. Lutz. And they made those of us who actually wanted to be there into state champions that really love music.

Mr. Bookner, senior year English. He was an oddball. The football coach of all people, but he didn't slack on actually teaching. Probably cause he didn't HAVE to be there. He ran a good business before and during his time teaching. He was really more of a Literature teacher than English cause he spent so little time on grammar. We spent most of our time actually reading and discussing books more in-depth than I ever thought about. Of course, a lot of time was spent discussing whatever came up as a topic too. He was probably the best person to be a teacher.

The last would have to be my geography/meteorology professor from college, Dr. Henry. He was probably the BEST teacher I've had in college. How many other professors start the first day with a general knowledge quiz that doesn't count for anything but asks questions you never heard on a test before? The first day back from the weekend would come with the question "Who did something geologically significant?"

I miss my music teacher from 2009 & 2010, he let us swear at him, and he swore back.

Swearing with teachers is fun.

My grade four teacher was brilliant. When it was nice weather he'd take us outside and organise a basketball match in the middle of class. xD He also used to do a bunch of science 'experiments' with us, like making butter from cream or seeing who could make the best paper aeroplane. I like to credit him with beginning my love of science. =)

We also had a sticker reward chart with prizes like 'no homework' vouchers, extra recess or sport time, lollies or a hot chip lunch for the whole class. And he let me relate every piece of work I did to Pokemon... I'm pretty sure my 10 year old self was in love with him at that point. xD

I miss my old home-ech teacher, she was awesome, always so nice to everyone and she let us bake! :D

Then i miss my old biology teacher, she was awesome as well, had been voted teacher of the year for over 8 years i think.. xD

Grade 7: Ms Dube
She's a French Canadian woman, but dang was she a fun teach. It's too bad I don't remember much about her anymore though.

Grade 8: Mr Field
He's a really awesome teach. He gets out the watergun and sets some of the kids in the "splash zone". So...I guess he treated us like cats. He also doesn't hesitate to take potshots at us. I still remember this one day where I was asking a girl for her number (cuz we were doing a project together), and he came up and was like, "oh better hide under your desk." *wink* XD

High School Latin: Mrs. Dittmar
I think she's retired now. She's different in it that she's got one of the loudest laughs ever in a teach. That really wasn't the reason though. She taught Latin in a very fun manner and even managed to create fun projects every now and then for us to play around with. Heck, we had toga parties and watched the entire DVD collection of Claudius. She is also the model to which I derived a lot of my ethical standings, as I had many a time asked for her advice for many things.

Geography Teach: Mr Lister
Hilarious and has an incredible chessmaster mind. Helps that he's the advisor for the chess club and constantly woops every kid in existence there. I remember him still remembering me when I visited the school last time....5 years after my graduation. That's 9 years since he taught me a class. Talk about memory capacity!

Biology/Physics: Ms. Barton, Mrs. Bronson, Ms Rensink
The Bio/physics triad of science teaches that eventually led me into biology and medicine. though their influence wasn't nearly as much as the floor doctor at my volunteering hospital, they didn't make me hate biology, and I was thankful for that. Mrs. Bronson in particular was the main influence when it came to critical thinking. She was very unorthodox in her teaching style...in her examiinations. Known throughout the school as one of the hardest test makers, she made us think outside of the box and applied strategic thinking that went beyond biology. It's something that's still serving me now as I move on in medicine.

Dr. Bognar
My PI for 2 years. He's honestly not that great a teacher per se. His strength was in his heart. He is by far one of the nicest guys I know. His teaching abilities are nothing like his actual knowledge in the lab. You can always count on him to think of something, whether it's financial or practical of a problem in the lab. I have nothing but respect for this guy.

my elementary school teacher from 2nd to 5th grade, chris, he was so funny and had such a good moral until he moved to another school and i never saw him again :-(

mr Johnson understands me clearly. he taught me at 9th grade. now he is old and lives in countryside. sometimes i come back to visit him.

Mr Heely was this fat teacher with glasses who was a sub at my school. He was absolutely hilarious, telling us of the time he nearly got in a fight with this guy on the bus, and he told anyone who thought they were being cool "shut it, or I'll come up and batter yeez", with this glare in his eyes :')
Other than that...can't think of any :O

[Ridley]

12th grade English: Mr Lipschutz. He wasn't exactly a great teacher, as far as the school disctrict was concerned. As in, teaching wasn't really a high priority for him. He liked to sit back and get sidetracked in conversations with the class about anything and everything. He'd talk exsensively on his more interesting teaching days down in the bad neighborhoods in Philly. Analyzations of stories would turn into making fun of a given character or laughing at a dumb line someone said. He often felt reading was boring and usually replaced our book reading with watching the movie of the book. One day, he even decided he didn't want to teach and just put an episode of the simpsons on the projector. Oh, and the fact that he was stoned nearly every day may have contributed to all that.
