Dark Moonlight, attorney at law, closed her briefcase and sighed in relief. Everything was still in it. The little stone T-Rex at her feet, her Cranidos, sighed as well. She was, after all, the one on trial, falsely accused of murder. Her name, all too appropriately, was The Defence. DM's briefcase contained all of the documents meant to prove her innocence. Neither trainer nor Pokemon could believe that it had been left behind when the trial went into recess earlier that day. In fact, both remembered bringing it with them.

The door opens. Very quietly, which DM takes notice of, but in the still silence of the courtroom at night they still hear it and turn around. There stands Osha-WHAT, a family member of the victim, and her Eevee Brooke. Their purpose here is apparent. They think The Defense is guilty, even though the evidence so far was leading both the judge and the jury to realize that she was innocent. They know what the verdict will be tomorrow. And they've come to get vengeance themselves.

The Defense really, really doesn't fight. Aside from being bad for the case, she has absolutely nothing against Brooke or Osha-WHAT. But she has no choice but to follow DM's instructions on this, and if her Trainer thinks that battling is the way to get out of this, she'll go with it. With full intent only to incapacitate Brooke, she runs forward, knowing that she's slightly faster than her opponent despite her heavy body. Her arm pulls back, and she punches, her tiny claw-like fingers pulled so the knuckles extend outwards. The blow clubs Brooke on the side of the head, dazing her slightly, but the Eevee quickly recovers and takes a jump back, landing in front of the Gallery where people sat to spectate.

Seeing that this is going to require the big guns, The Defense draws another fist, this time a normal one, and runs forward again, this time swinging her arm in a circle next to her body. Just as she reaches her opponent-she refuses the word enemy-Brooke jumps back, landing in one of the seats of the Gallery with her fur spiking up, hissing in a very feline way. The Defense's fist instead ends up buried in the wall of the Gallery, leaving a clear indentation.

Brooke glares at The Defense, the one who caused her Trainer pain by killing one of her pack. In the world of a Pokemon this was an unforgivable sin. Her mouth opens and a ball of swirling violet energy appears in front of it, the spectres of ghosts a thousand years dead whispering through it. The Shadow Ball fires, hurtling down the stands at its target, who had only just managed to pull her hand free and look back up at the Eevee who was so angrily trying to fight her. The blast nails her in the face, sending her skidding backwards across the ground. Brooke smirks humorlessly, but The Defense still stands back up, obviously ready to get rid of the only two who did not buy her innocent act.

Hmm, as long as they're out of the galley use Shadow Ball.
If they do jump in, use Toxic. If they use Encore/Substitute/Magic Coat use Iron Tail. Protect = Double Team. If you use Toxic on the first turn don't use it again, just use Iron Tail.

Come now, Defense, stop being so worried. You know you're innocent, and this fight will prove it.

Throw an AncientPower over there. Follow up with some Earth Power. FLING IT AT 'EM and make them regret jumping into that gallery view!

AncientPower ~ Earth Power

Round 2

Dark Moonlight

[The Defense] Cranidos (Female)
HP: 96

Status: Bolstered by DM's words.
Moves: AncientPower ~ Earth Power

Osha-WHAT

[Brooke] Eevee (F)
HP: 94
Energy: 86
Status: Pissed. Really pissed. Defense-1, In Gallery.
Moves: Shadow Ball/Toxic/Iron Tail/Double Team ~ Shadow Ball/Toxic/Iron Tail/Double Team

The Defense relaxes slightly, calmed by the soothing reminder of her trainer. Her eyes close, and she reaches deep into her ancestry, millions of years deep, to the power of the oldest and most powerful dinosaurs. Ancient energy of an era long past forms in front of her, forming into an orb of brilliant light. Her eyes pop open, and her arms fly up, sending the energy flying. Brooke stares on wide-eyed as the attack strikes her in the face, sending her flying three rows back.

Undaunted, she stands, her eyes glaring and her lips pulled up in a snarl. She forms a Shadow Ball in front of her face, and lets it loose. The Defense is taken by surprise, not having expected another attack so quickly-honestly she had hoped that that last attack would at least wind Brooke enough to let her talk some sense into the Eevee. The attack nails her directly between the eyes, and though she managed to remain on her feet, it stuns her momentarily, and sends a sharp pain through her brain, echoing in her skull in a way that will undoubtedly end in a headache.

Brooke smirks and draws up another Shadow Ball. The way this is going it will be far too easy. The Defense, however, recovers quickly enough to respond in kind, generating a similar ball of energy colored golden. They fire their attacks simultaneously, and for a brief moment it looks, from a side view, like the two attacks will collide. However, they aren't actually lined up against each other, and instead spin off of each other, striking their targets in the side rather than head on. No serious damage is done, but both are aware that this is far from over.

End of Round

These Shadow Balls are annoying. AncientPower! If she goes for a Shadow Ball, use Protect but not if you've already used it. If you have already used Protect, just go with the AncientPower.

Round Three

DarkMoonlight

[The Defense] Cranidos (F)

HP: 84%
Energy: 60%
Condition: None
Moves: Protect/Ancient Power ~ Protect/Ancient Power

Osha-WHAT?

[Brooke] Eevee (F)

HP: 84%
Energy: 62%
Condition: Defence -1; In Gallery
Moves: Shadow Ball ~ Shadow Ball

Following on from the rather dramatic ending to the last round, the beginning of this one was a little dull. Since DarkMoonlight had ordered a positive priority move, Protect, as a wait-and-see conditional, The Defense had no idea what to do. She had to see what Brooke would do before she would be able to make her own move but her own move could be a positive priority move, if Brooke used Shadow Ball that is, so she would have to manipulate the flow of time in order to block the attack before she knew it was coming. Surprisingly, The Defense knew little about how to alter time, that power was held by Dialga alone, and so was left to try and figure out a way around this tricky problem.

Meanwhile, Brooke was preparing her next assault on the accused dinosaur. The incredibly familiar ball of crackling energy formed in front of her mouth. The sound of the shrieking spirits filled the Eevee’s powerful ears until she could bear it no longer. She fired the violet-coloured ball down at the unsuspecting form of the Cranidos who had killed a member of her trainer’s pack. Once again, the attack hit The Defense between the eyes, which caused her to stagger back slightly, losing her defensive stance. “So it had been a Shadow Ball after all,” she thought. “Shame I can’t figure out how to go back in time yet.”

Unfortunately, she was destined to spend yet another round pondering how to do this as her second order had been the same as the first. When DarkMoonlight realised the mistake she had made, she knew that this had the potential to ruin not only the battle but her Pokémon’s chances of survival. This battle had an awful lot riding on the outcome and so far it wasn’t going too well.

For the fifth time, Brooke called upon the downright hatred of her opponent to create another ball of violet energy. The spirits had decided only to whisper this time so she didn’t have to put up with their constant shrieking. When the ball of ghostly energy was slightly larger than an orange, the Eevee fired it at the ponderous Cranidos, who had just figured out how to go back in time and save herself. However, the knock to the head she took from the Shadow Ball made her forget everything she had worked out and put her back to square one. Maybe the next round would bear a little more luck for the rock type dinosaur.

DarkMoonlight

[The Defense] Cranidos (F)

HP: 75%
Energy: 38%
Condition: Tired and might be getting the beginnings of a migraine; Special Defence -1.

Osha-WHAT?

[Brooke] Eevee (F)

HP: 84%
Energy: 38%
Condition: Also tired; Defence -1; in Gallery

Notes
For Cranidos’ actions, I took the mean average of the two attacks and rounded them to the nearest number to find the Energy (11).
Shadow Ball- (Eevee -12 Energy; Cranidos -4 HP; 1/5 rolled, 1 needed to lower Special Defence.)
Shadow Ball- (Eevee -12 Energy; Cranidos -5 HP; Special Defence cannot be lowered further.)

Arena Notes
Brooke is in the Gallery. The Defense isn't.
