We’re right back at it again! Welcome to week 4!
This week went by fast and we’ve had some fantastic entries submitted. Thanks to all that participated, and please do come back for upcoming weeks.
The winner of this week’s Graphic Spotlight was Linchy’s banner, “Escaping to the Stars.”
The original render came from a Pokemon card. The inspiration for the banner, you may ask? “Anyhow, the Aron looking up was the inspiration.”
When we view pieces of artwork such as this, we let what our eyes see to help process the thoughts in our minds that help us try to imagine ourselves in the creator’s shoes and see what they saw. Luckily, we don’t have to do that. We were lucky enough for Linchy to give us her feedback!
“When the tag progressed, it looked like it was looking up at the sky. To add more effect I used the pentool to make it seem like it was going ‘up’, to the sky&stars.
And thus, it’s called ‘escaping to the stars.’”
Resources used by Linchy were a Pokemon card
, Brush 1
, and Brush 2
It is clear to see that the original render has been worked with a lot. Gradient Maps, C4Ds, and the path tool have all played their part in the final result of her work. The C4D helped establish a nice flow to it, as well as the lines created with the path tool.
Although the banner has its remarkable aspects to it, there are, as with virtually everything in life, flaws within. The brightness of the banner can hurt the eyes a bit if looked at for a long period of time which made it a little harder to review. The color scheme was nice, but it seems to be too monotonous. With the colors Aron has, there could have been three colors used to give this image a more diverse feel to it: silver, black, and blue. One more piece of advice to give is to make the text larger so it could be more visible. The font could’ve been worked on, too.
Aside from the nitpicking, the banner was definitely a really good one. It seems like she spent a lot of time and dedication rendering the image and working on it. The tag has been a pleasure to review and criticize, and I hope to see more works from you in the future, Linchy!
Be sure to give Linchy’s Shop
a visit and leave some nice comments or concerns.
With that out of the way, Week 5 should be starting very soon. We look forward to see what you all could whip up.
See you next week!
