Post Graphic Spotlight Week 2: ragnarok0422!

It’s that time again folks. You guessed it. Graphic Spotlight Week 2!

We had a fair amount of entries sent in this week. I’d like to take this time to thank all who participated, and to encourage them to keep creating graphics.

This week we have chosen ragnarok0422′s entry, “Queen of Roses.”

Ragnarok0422 was inspired out of adoration rather than by the image itself. He “always had a thing for Blazblue’s Rachel Alucard”.

He did not clarify his thoughts on his own work, so we’ll give our own interpretations.

Resources used by ragnarok0422 were Planet Renders, Euphoria [PS] Brushes, Light Textures 1 and Light Textures 2.

In the banner, it is very clear that he made good use of the render. He went beyond just pasting the image over the background and helped give us the feeling that half of the render is within the background. Kudos on this.

As for criticism, I feel that the flow is hard to detect. Try using C4D’s and Brushes to create a well-established flow that goes smoothly with what you’re working with. The roses drifting throughout the banner fit with the title of the banner, but after looking at it several times, they seem a little out of place. But that doesn’t take away from the value and overall design of this well-made piece at all. Additionally, the text was nice, simple and straight to the point.

Overall, I feel that this banner was well done. It looks like a fair amount of time was placed into structuring the piece and adding the finishing touches. The only things missing were a visible flow and a light source, but other than that, great job ragnarok0422.

Week 3 will start soon. We look forward to your entries!

See you in a week!
