How do you change your preferences so that you don't have to click a Quick Reply button in order to use the Quick Reply box?

Same. Post reply I find is much more efficient. Though this isn't my first time using quick reply, this is one of those rare times you find me using it.

Click QR on any post and just don't tick Quote Message in reply. It's easy, you don't need it set on.
My posts generally don't contain much so I basically always use Quick Reply. I know all the codes I need to know anyway.
