Yo Madge! You'll have a very hard time beating Morty with those levels. Would suggest raising them a few, maybe about 23-24? Still, keep hold of Magmar, he will be epic once you can evolve him to Magmotar :3

Anyways, I'll post my team in a bit

@Dartz: I've always found legendaries so boring to be honest dude. Normal pokemon are much more fun, and I've taken down a team of ubers with my 'normal' pokemon.

Cheers Altrius. Yeah, I just turned my DS on then, going to go and level my Pokemon for a little bit, definitely keeping hold of Magmar though, since I really want to evolve him into a Magmortar. (:

Wondering what I should do with my team? I'm happy with Sudo, Magmar and Bayleef, not really sure what I should do with the other three... ?

EDIT: Got a new addition to my team... Two new additions, actually. Replaced Sudowoodo and Butterfree with a level twenty-two Drowzee, and an egg from my Drowzee and Ditto. Two more permanent slots left in my team (for the time being, anyway, until I catch some better Pokémon)... Wonder who will get them?

Hmm. A good water pokemon could be handy for you. Perhaps a goldeen or a poliwag from surfing? (I would go for poliwag only because Poliwrath is awesome)

Drowzee's a good enough pokemon, especially when he evolves but if you fancy killing two birds with one stone, ditch pidgeotto (pun unintended) and drowzee, and head back to the ruins of alph. now that you can surf across to the grass, you can catch a natu - a neat little psychic flying pokemon.

With those replacements you'll have good type coverage on your team

Magmar - Fire
Natu - Psychic/Flying
Flaffy - Electric
Poliwrath - Fighting/Water
Bayleef - Grass

And that still gives you one more spot to fill up. Now looking at that your very weak to ghosts and psychic's, so I recommend a dark pokemon ... And the earliest one you can get iss. Umbreon. You should have seen bill in ecruteak by now, so head back to goldenrod and he will give you an eevee. Simply level that up at nightime with full happiness and voila you have an Umbreon. (Try not to get too high level though, Umbreon learns its first dark move at level 13)

Obviously this is just advice, but I hope it helps anyway :)

Except that Natu is a really terrible Pokemon in general with no real offensive abilities to speak of and limited supporting moves (it sort of fits into the same niche as bayleef actually..) and doesn't even get a flying type move besides Peck without using a TM/HM (Aerial Ace or Fly) or an egg move (Drill Peck, best choice) and also leaves you stuck with Peck and Night Shade as your offensive options for a long, long time (until 42, when you get Future Sight) unless you use a TM, which honestly doesn't make the Pokemon much better.

I'd honestly ditch Drowzee and fish up a Staryu or catch Slowpoke. The difference is basically that Staryu is stronger (as Starmie) but needs to be fed TMs and an evolution stone whereas Slowpoke does not.

For Starmie I'd recommend Surf, Ice Beam/Blizzard, Thunderbolt/Thunder, and then Psychic if you want to use him for a Psychic type, but Psychic is really not a necessary attacking type as it has rather poor coverage. He can also Recover for 50% of his health. He's strong and a well-trained one will be faster than most things you encounter.

For Slowbro, I'd recommend Surf and Zen Headbutt (only until you get Psychic via level or TM) and then just a smattering of TM moves, whichever suit what sorts of coverage you want him to be. He gets:

-Ice Beam/Blizzard
-Flamethrower/Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Brick Break/Focus Blast
-Grass Knot
-Signal Beam (Tutor)
-Shadow Ball

as good attacking moves.

He also gets Slack Off (heal 50% of health) at 39 if you wait two more levels before letting him evolve, or a few levels later as Slowbro.

Basically the key to type coverage isn't having all the types as Pokemon types, but as move types on Pokemon that make sense.

For example, putting your Psychic move on a Water-type makes sense, because Psychic covers Poison and Fighting, neither of which are especially threatening to a water-type Pokemon. The two Pokemon I've suggested are part Psychic which does help via STAB, but it isn't actually that necessary.

For example, if you wanted to include an electric type move to help with Water and Flying types, you don't necessary need an entire electric Pokemon, and sometimes ingame, with cases like Luxray (D/P) and Ampharos (G/S) those electric Pokemon have horrible movepools and don't end up having anything besides Electric and Normal coverage for a long time, when you could have just used one move slot on another Pokemon to provide all the coverage that they do.

Of course, when it comes down to it, you don't even need 6 Pokemon to play and beat this game. It comes down to putting the most into each Pokemon. :)

tl;dr hope it helps vaguely
