Try borrowing a friend's version of DPPt/HGSS that's been beat, and see if you can transfer Pokemon through that.
I'm thinking it might be your game that's the problem.

I bought diamond the other day so I'm just gonna replay it and get rid of my platinum because it's completely useless to me now. :P now I can get the shiny charmander that I want so bad!!
