I doubt they think that deeply about it...
Ash is more of an ageless character, like Charlie Brown almost. Heck, if Charlie Brown aged accordingly, he'd be an old man now.

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
Yup, he isn't ageing.
If we do see him age it'll be one of those age jumps that I've seen a few times in anime. The guy is this age for a lot seasons and then one season the guy grew up and what happened in between doesn't matter or is vague. Kind of like Dragon Ball when Goku is a kid and then he just grew up. We didn't see much of his teenage years. Just childhood, and then he gets married plus the fights.
Another good example is Rugrats and All Grown Up.

He's getting better though, but not any smarter when it comes to handling his Charizard.

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
I know he is growing, because, the last time we heard of his age, he was 11. Remember in the 3rd Pokemon movie short, when Pikachu met the Pichu brothers? Ash, Brock, and Misty celebrated the day Ash and Pikachu met, which was Ash's tenth brithday, so, when that party took place, he was 11. I'd say, once the new Pokemon movie, Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea comes out, he'll be about 13 years of age. You can guess how I came to that conclusion .

While that may be true, don't expect to see any physical change to ever happen. It's just that Pokemon is a continous ongoing story, but that doesn't mean that in ten years, we can expect Ash and everyone else to have totally different appearances (In terms of psysical goes).
And that's already true with Pokemon being more than 10 years old.

A scan from an old book about the first episode. The first sentence says he's 11 when he starts, so I say 13 now.

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
He's not 11 when he starts though. In the anime it says numerous times that he's 10 years old and that Pokemon Trainers begin their journeys when they are 10. I'd say that was just a mess up in the book, they've done that kind of thing before.

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
I too think that he's about 12 or 13. Cause, if you really think about it, all of those journeys he's taken - Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and now Sinnoh - he has to have had at least a couple of birthdays.

Well, the anime has shown signs of age. He has a much deeper voice now. I can't even remember that old lauugh of his anymore.

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
Ash has changed through the years of pokemon he is not the same as he was for kanto
Misty on the other hand is the same i can tell from when she came back for a while twice(if you count the time with the mirage pokemon the 10th aniversery special) in the battle frontier

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
Well, I doubt he'd get anywhere near 14 until a few seasons. He looks not much different as the first Pokemon anime episode, which is "Pikachu, I Choose You!". :P
Anyways, who would go from region to region in such a young age? :P

Re: Is Ash ageing? -
Misty sorta grew after they seperated, so I think yes, Ash did grow. He's just more 00ber and arrogant now that he's the Legend That Has Never Won The League.
