Default HM's

I was just wondering if anyone ever thought of this. I mean everyone knows HM's are not good in competition battles and you dont want to have to put on of your favorite in the box to get past an obstacle. So I was thinking why dont they let us choose if we want to us a HM in battle. I mean it makes sense and that rule about 4 move only is old. I mean Pikachu still knows Quick Attack. He actually knows Quick Attack, Iron Tail, Volt Tackle, Thunder, Thunderbolt, and I think thats it. But it makes no sense that a flying pokemon needs to learn Fly. I mean they can fly already. Just make sure its the right size. I am just throwing the idea out there.

You might wanna take that up with the Pokemon Company. Also, this kind of topic doesn't belong here.

Isnt this thread movesets and strategies? I mean HMs affect both. And I am asking people here what they think and how they feel HM's affect them and if they should be able to choose. I mean I dont know where else to put it. And I doubt Nintendo would change cause 1 person said something but if enough people would say something I would email them a link to this forum.

But yeah what board should I put this in? For future reference.

First this is the right board. Second I only know of a few pokemon that origanly learn HM moves when my Shelgon evolved into salamence it instantly learned fly and I deposited my swellow.

Salamence is the only one. This should be in the general board, as its not a competitive/netbattle thing

Right. Also Seaking learns Waterfall naturally.

Not sure if I am understanding the topic correctly but if I am I will say this. I guess they just wanted to make them seperate moves so that you can't really have an advantage over your opponent.

Whats not to understand? Do you feel that we (people who play the pokemon games) should have a choice if our pokemon can use a HM move in battle. I mean I like Rock Smash in the field but in battle it sucks. And general board has nothing to do with HMs.

Lets not make this harder then what it is. LOL!!!! I just had the thought because I had to teach me Jolteon Flash but I dont want to use it in battle. I was wondering if anyone else felt the way I felt.

Nintendo realised about this after RBY, and that's why further generations have the so famous move deleter. If you don't want a HM move on your Pokemon, then just go an have it deleted. Simple as that

Many pokemon learn fly naturally. Same goes for most of the HMs. Rayquaza learns it naturally and there were a couple others I forgot. Farfy learns cut iirc. Wailmer learns waterfall. No one learns surf unless you count pikachu through NYPC. And there are heaps more.

Ok you also dont get what I am saying. Say your Machamp knows strength right. Now you want to go do some leveling up in a high level cave and want to bring your dream team. You dont want Machamp to use strength in battle but you do need it for the field. I am just thinking like why should I have to sacrafice one or the other. I think Flash is useless but at this time I am spending alot of time in a dark cave. I dont want to use it battle. I feel that the pokemon should know HM moves and we should choose if we want them to use it in battle or not simple as that. I mean you might be online battling then some one says hey I will trade you A for B. For you to get B you need to go in a dark cave so you have to go to the PC and put one of your dream team in the PC to get that pokemon. I think it would save time and also make battling more satisfying seeing that not everyone wants to put HMs into their strategy. I mean the only HM I like is surf. Hits both targets. Other then that I think all the other ones suck. Just throwing it out there.
