Cowaru gets an extra rush of excitement when he faces an opponent that he knows is of a higher stage in evolution from him. Refusing to back down, he psyches himself up for the battle and feels empowered. However, Cowaru loses his moxie if he faces an opponent of a weaker stage than him, therefore weakening his power. He may be a little ball of feathers, but by Rufflet he’s gonna make sure he’s remembered as the rough tuft battlin’ machine.

Cowaru ruffled his feathers as he looked at his opponent. Even though Almighty was small, like he was, he knew the Sentret could deal some damage. Closing his eyes, the little bird began to focus his energy in front of him. When he opened his eyes, a small copy of himself sat there. It stood in front of its creator, willing to protect it with its life.

The Almighty growled darkly as Cowaru created a substitute. He wanted to cause pain, and that’s exactly what he was going to do. He began to breath deeply, growling as he bounced from foot to foot before balancing on his tail. His body glowed slightly as he felt his spirit rise. He knew he could beat this bird!
[Almighty: -4 NRG; +1 ATK, +1 SPATK]

Cowaru watched the display before jumping into the air. He flew at Almighty, grabbing the small rodent in his tiny talons. With a secure grip, he flew up into the air. Almighty’s eyes widened as the ground fell away beneath him and he struggled against Cowaru’s grip. He couldn’t even get free to attack. Cowaru stopped, looking down at the Sentret that he was holding on to. A smirk appeared on his beak and Almighty’s eyes widened. Cowaru suddenly released the rodent, and Almighty fell back to the ground with a loud thump. He groaned as he pushed himself to his feet, glaring at Cowaru as the bird landed across from him.

The Almighty bounded forwards, scraping at Cowaru, but the sub appeared in the way, though he took it down in one neat rake of his claws before moving onto the real Cowaru, delivering three swipes to the real one before the little Rufflet flew a short distance away.

The Almighty was feeling fairly confident now that he had gotten in such a brutal hit on Cowaru. Surely a little baby bird was no match for him! He opened his mouth, calling to bear the power of frigid cold. A beam of glowing blue energy shot from his gaping jaws, lancing at high speed toward a defenseless-looking Cowaru.

However, Cowaru was prepared. He opened his own beak, but instead of cold he sent forth a rolling wave of glowing red flames. The fire met the Ice Beam in midair, changing it into a harmless puddle of steaming water on the floor. Cowaru ruffled his feathers smugly, while The Almighty gave him an irritated glare.
[Heat Wave: Cowaru, -26% Energy]

Cowaru then closed his eyes in concentration. A wall of flickering blue light began to shimmer in front of him; the light solidified with a bright flash. When Cowaru opened his eyes, he was surrounded by a dome-shaped force field of impenetrable turquoise energy.

The Almighty's jaw dropped slightly as he saw the barrier springing up, completely impassable. Then he scrunched up his little face, determined not to get discouraged. He had to at least try and break through. He opened his mouth once more, shooting out a jet of bright blue energy. However, the result was unsurprising: the beam fizzled into a shower of snow crystals as it hit the wall. The Almighty's shoulders sagged. He was exhausted, and he didn't feel very almighty.

Cowaru saw his opponent sitting there. TA was sitting there, worn out from all of the battling. With this occurring, he decided to make a clone of himself while the squirrel-thing wasn't looking. The Rufflet started to molt feathers of all different colors, sticking them together as they fell. In no time at all, Cowaru created a sturdy copy of himself. Though, there was a gray tint to it...

Finally, Almighty took notice of the bird again. Though as tired as he was, he started to attack. The Sentret rushed at Cowaru and jumped on his face, soon scratching away at it. Feeling pleased, he ran back to where he was, ready to relax, when he saw the bird again, without the scratches he had just given. He was now furious.
[TA: -4% ENG, Sub: Broken]
Effect: Roll 1 to 10. Result was 8.

Seeing as his opponent was still tired, Cowaru decided to attack. His claws started to glow white as he rushed to the scene. The Almighty was struck down hard by these claws, soon regretting attacking this small, strong bird as he was crying at the pain and watching the opponent fly back over to Sabi the Trainer.

Spite the recent events, TA decided to lie back and relax. He looked at his opponent peacefully as he started to take a short power nap.
